These ladies were way ahead of the curve in "modern" fashion ... pants that were cut with a flare, silk blouses with a touch of "men's wear" look; and blazers and jackets that would stand the test of time. In other words the "Classics." These styles were later further defined by the likes of Perry Ellis, Wili Smith, Louis Dell O'lio and my favorite ... Armani. Some of the current designers such as Akris Punto and others have taken classics to cutting edge modern.
I love the styles of Diane and Alicia on the Good Wife; and Olivia on Scandal..
Sox, we are marathon watching Scandal on Netflix -- I'm sad that we only have two episodes left!
I do love the way Olivia dresses. Even my husband asked me if I noticed how Olivia always wears white? With her beautiful complexion, white is such a good color for her and I love her big collared wrap coat.

Magic ... I've never kept up with Scandal and keep telling myself that one day I will start watching. I do check from time to time, though, just to see what Olivia is wearing, lol.

I started putting things together and editing when I was a child. I was always drawn to color, patterns, and style from the time I could walk. I remember shopping for tennis shoes before I was in first grade and being so against a color I couldn't stand to look at it! (Still rarely wear that color.!!!). My mother was an artist and that's how that gene came out in me I guess. When I became a teenager, I discovered Seventeen magazine full of articles, pictures of Cheryl Teigs, and Jean Shrimpton; and advertisements. I learned to sew in high school and to tailor in college. I designed several pieces and loved Interior Design. Today, as in the past, I wear a variety of things, but with an edge. I wear a lot of jackets, scarves, Hepburn type pants, and longer skirts. I go for sweaters with an unusual yarn or collar. Lots of belts. I have some things that are more interesting like on Scandal. I like hand made jackets and silk scarves and I go to the artisan shows when I can. My reading now is Bazaar Magazine. If I particularly like a color palatte, I'll keep it. I dropped In Style when all they really did was show gowns on actresses! Often my students would ask if I would put their professional wardrobe together after they graduated college. I love color and design! I love to put things together!

There is a whole web site of the clothes worn on Scandal. They hinted that they had Olivia to wear white to show her lack of corruption?, to signify being unspoiled.

I buy what draws my eye and fits well. I don't go overboard worrying if I'm in style or not.

So do I.
I also like up to date accessories and get ideas from a lot of sources.
I got some colorful Ivanka Trump pumps - the kitten heel style - in burgundy patent and teal suede. They really ""pop"" my neutral outfits.
