My initial instinct would be to say no, but then velvets are usually made from cotton or rayon mixes, so why not?  Over the last several years they've even been pushing summer weight leather, so the only rules are there are no rules.

@Greeneyedlady21  That jumpsuit sounds great.

Well-made Velvet has such a luxurious, sensuous look about it.

I love Amal's dress, it looks perfect for a cool summer night.  Beyonce's reminds me of a velvet version of the Barefoot Dream's TSV from a few days ago, which I did not care for.

I don't ever see myself wearing velvet in the summer. That's like wearing a swimsuit during wintertime in the Rockies. Not happpenin'.

So funny you should mention this.  I was looking at photos of the MTV Movie and TV Awards last week, and I couldn’t help but notice the velvet being worn!

I was was a little surprised and assumed it was a new trend.  I think it looks silly in 80+ and sunny weather.

I don't care if it is sleeveless, I would not wear velvet in 85 degree weather.  If it is very high humidity and dew point absolutely no way would I wear velvet in the summer.  Velvet to me is for 60 degree weather and below.  You can't always follow the trend.  Amal has so much money she doesn't know what to do with it.  Amal did get George lookiing better too.  Cat Tongue  Amal looks lovely in this maroon dress.  She is tall and very lean.

To me, velvet is strictly a winter fabric and I can't imagine wearing it in spring and summer.  I sweat like no one's business without A/C or some type of coolness around me, and I could be wearing as little as possible, so this is one trend I'm staying away from. If the celebrities want to wear it, more power to them.

No, I wouldn’t wear velvet in the summer. I don’t own much of it anyway. I have a black velvet blazer and one pair of shoes that are velvet. I think of it more as a fall/winter fabric.

Not for me to me velvet evokes holiday dressing

Re: Velvet In Summer

[ Edited ]

I don't do drugs nor do I wear velvet in the summertime.  Two things many celebrities do that I would not.
