Re: Talbot's Memorial Day Sale

@gidgetgh  Well, I made another trip to Talbots today and ... you have 100% credibility with me!   Remember a while back you bought the striped sweater with slight bell sleeves and tons and tons of embellishment on it?  I couldn't believe at the time you bought it, because I thought it looked kinda hideous online (too much embeliishment that I thought was gaudy) and when I saw it for the first time in person at the store, I thought the same thing although it didn't look quite as bad in person as it had online.

Well, since it's reduced and I have 50% off (having bought several items already yesterday - T's combines purchases for this sale) I tried it on and I really, really liked it!  Enough to buy it!  As soon as I tried it on and looked in the mirror, I thought "gidgetgh was right after all!"   I love the weight of the sweater also.  This sweater is really, really cute on!

The salesperson and I couldn't decide whether the stripes in the background are black (I think they are) or that really dark indigo of T's that looks like black but is really blue.  Can you tell me?   Gosh, if I hadn't had your post in mind when I saw that sweater on the rack, I would never have tried it on, and now I'm really glad I did.   The price was just under $50  for a $149-originally sweater.

I love this sale going on this weekend.   It really just got hot here in the midwest not too long ago, after an unusually cold spring, so there is plenty of time to wear these spring summer garments left - and  so the sale is just great!

By the way, that wasn't my only purchase today either!  Yikes, I'm doing damage and I also place two orders online for things I didn't see at the store.   My favorite purchase, though, is still that 1960s-looking tunic I bought yesterday.   And I got it for under $8  because of all the discounts and then I used a reward. It was originally $79.99 or something like that.

@Pearlee- I know!  Online, it looks like a wreck. Then, when I was in this store, all the beads and sequins and stuff caught my eye, but I was still undecided cause it’s just so different. And then I tried it on. That sweater is a winner.

Website says Ivory/Blue/red/yellow.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

@gidgetgh  I saw that online, but I think that's for the embellishments only.  There's only one block to click on as a color choice and that's ivory.   There are plenty of blue embellisments on the sweater so I'm thinking those colors describe the embellishments and I'm still not sure what color the stripe background it.

@LOL @ "looks like a wreck."   LOL    Yep, really gaudy.  But adorable on!

Re: Talbot's Memorial Day Sale

My indigo lace top came yesterday. It is a keeper. It has a lined bodice and a side zipper. The bell sleeves has a ribbon and small bow  around the seam that fits the top part of the  arm and bottom bell together. I saved over 50% on this item

It has to be dry cleaned, but it will take me all year round, for dressy events

My sailboat tee is being shipped from a store ,and my bluebell sweater is in the mail. I am done until fall/winter  fashion. I want a  indigo wool pant ,to wear with my blazers and tops

Re: Talbot's Memorial Day Sale

@Pearlee- it’s a black stripe in the sweater. I took it over to a window with some bright light and looked at it.

@gidgetgh, if I'm seeing the rignt sweater (P462886), Talbots answers that question on the item page. They say, "The stripes are indigo blue/navy." It's the last question.

@gidgetgh, unless Talbots is incorrect. If you check out the reviews, one did say that the stripes were black: "I think the stripes are black and not navy. Either way, wear with both."

Re: Talbot's Memorial Day Sale

@suzyQ3  @gidgetgh  Thank you for your responses.  No wonder I couldn't tell! Smiley Happy

Yeah, I guess you can wear it with both black and navy (esp. since there is blue in the embellished flowers then clearly that goes with other blues too).

I have to say, though, that I really hate when navy is so dark that you can't tell whether it is blue or black.  I wish clothes wouldn't come that way at all.  Talbots does it more than any other clothing place I've ever shopped at.   I was trying on a tank at the store too that I had concluded in the dressing room was probably a very dark navy but when I asked the clerk she said with certainty that it's black. (The clerks can tell by the number on the tag what color it is - I'd forgotten about that when I was still in the store).
