@KittySoftPaws wrote:Nothing against SG, but IMO her clothes are sub par in quality and 90% of what she sells is indeed hot, thin, 100% polyester fabric. I remember her saying on the air a while back that she would try bringing in other materials like cotton, as people were complaining all she put out was "liquid knit" which is a fancy name for poly. She did, but she still sells mostly poly and charges a lot for it.
It's cheaper for the designer, and then they make more selling it. I think it worked well for her for many years, but now more people demand better quality, and quality materials for those kinds of prices. A good example is Aimee kestenberg's new fashion line. 100% cotton beefy tees, 100% Lyocell jeans with cute details, and much more. I bought many of her pieces.
@KittySoftPaws Her clothes being sub par is so not ture. Her blazers for instance are gorgeous. Pants too. Great quality and tailoring. Her ponte blazers and pants especially.

@FranandZoe An opinion is considered subjective. To you it is good quality, to me it is not. Nothing wrong with either, that's why there are choices.

The price of everything everywhere has gone up. You are certainly entitled to your opinion but I do not see any reason to call out Susan Graver in particular.@PhilaLady1 Boy do I agree. I feel the same way about people complaining about her using polyester when so many lines use it. And nothing wrong with it.
@FranandZoe - The ones calling out polyester are old-school thinking of polyester.

@KittySoftPaws Sorry it's not just my opinion. I've bought better clothes my whole life from dept stores and specialty stores. I know quality.

I haven't worn polyester in years unless it's a small percentage blend in jeans.
Is polyester different now? 100% polyester was too hot for me before.

Since, at this time, you did not show pics of the items you are referring to @Bicher it's difficult to comment on it in particular.
For me, if I have a special event and the item looked exactly like what I was looking for, then no, the price is not ridiculous.
I also feel a blanket statement about the quality of ALL items from any specific brand discredits an opinion since nobody has purchased everything offered by one brand. I have purchased many SG items, most all of them were top quality. I also really like Kim Gravel's items, especially the athletic wear. Wow, I love them. But, I have purchased a couple I wasn't super happy with.
Of course, everything is subjective but to say a brand only produces bad or good loses merit. IF a specific item is mentioned, giving photos especially, really helps us identify and understand a post. Otherwise, in my opinion, it's irrelevant and not helpful as well as difficult to comment.

@FranandZoe Ummm... yes, it is just your opinion. And I have mine. We will agree to disagree, and leave it at that. This is after all a forum that welcomes any and all opinions. No need to take it personally, happy you like her clothes, not everyone will, and that's a-ok.

@cjm61 had a great response on another thread pertaining to synthetic material. I hope she doesn't mind that I am quoting what she said.
"Cotton is the least breathable. Check out the best workout clothing, the vast majority of modern workout clothing is made from synthetic materials like polyester, nylon, and elastane (spandex). These petroleum-based plastics are specifically engineered for athletic performance, as they are durable, lightweight, and moisture-wicking.
I think there's a lot of "old school" opinions here and many haven't realized polyester has come a long way. I won't disagree that there are inferior polyester out there but you get what you pay for. "

@rockygems123 I buy workout leggings and tanks with a blend of poly and elastic. I've spent a small fortune on my athletic wear. As I mentioned in a previous post, working out in polyester is the standard for high-intensity exercise due to its moisture-wicking and quick-drying properties. It pulls sweat away from your skin to the surface of the fabric, helping to keep you dry. But, I do not buy 100% poly, you need a little stretch. My favorite every day wear is a cotton/poly blend. Usually this is very soft, comfortable and breathable.
@San Antonio Gal Is correct, most of the opinions on this board are very old school regarding polyester. It's come a long way.

@cjm61 @Well said! What is quality and important to one may not be to another. I know many things I look for in a quality may not matter to others.
