Re: Suggestions for comfortable pants...

Ditto on the Rafella!   Those are my go-to.    Department stores carry that line, you can order true to size online.   I also wear a size 16 on bottom due to many tummy surgeries and I don't want anything tight or clingy.    They have button type as well as pull on.   They are a bit pricy but worth it, wait for a sale.

I love the slacks from Rafella, Belks and other stores.  If you have hips,, they have some to accomodate that too.  They also have slim.

Sweet_Serenity, do you have a preference of fabric -- knit or twill; pull-on vs set-in waistband?  That is key information which would help me make a wiser suggestion for you.

Off the top of my head if you don't mind elastic waist, D&C original waist pants are about as comfortable pants as I've ever worn. I wear mine for landscaping gardening work, but that's not to say they can't look nice as regular apparel.  If I changed the garden boots to sandals, and the workshirt to a nice pretty blouse, the pants look fine.

@Sweet_Serenity

Nothing more comfy cozy than a pull on palazzo pant!

I totally LOVE these. I'm a 16 tall, but these also come in regular (and I think petite) length:  http://www.qvc.com/Denim-&-Co.-Active-Tall-French-Terry-Pants-with.product.A266336.html?upsh=1&sc=A2...

Oh and BTW I also have the Starfish line of slacks from Landsend, and they are also comfy, but I prefer the D&C above for everyday wear in the winter. They wash really really well and I throw them in the dryer on low and they have not changed size at all. I have every color by burgundy.
