Re: Story of a pair of my beach pants

I wish I could solve this mystery.  I have two sweatshirts that have bleach-like stains on them, but I never use bleach in my laundry, and I quit using fabric softener a long time ago.  It almost makes me hesitant to wash anything "good".

I am only guessing ,but I suspect the mordant they used to set the die ,was  substandard ,or parts of the fabric was poorly saturated with it

Re: Story of a pair of my beach pants

I have bought jeans that have odd bleached streaks after machine washing them. and in cold water on gentle cycle. they were Diane Gilman and a bit pricey.. Ive had quaker factory dream jeans do the same thing. Im guessing it is how the fabric picks up the dye in the processing. Denim and company shirts are famous for uneven dying after laundering. send them back. with a note explaining what happened.

Got this from a Google search. Random Bleach Stains on Laundry. ... Laundry Detergent: Yes, this can cause the stains. If you have a detergent with "color safebleach" or a "whitener", be sure to shake the liquid before using, as you can get a concentration of the whitener in a cap of soap.
