An extra note to you.  If you are with grand babies, the Zoo could be a better choice if they are quite young.  There is a fantastic Explorer Base Camp designed specifically for kids....lots of animals and play areas.  The animals at the Zoo are in habitats that make them easier and closer for little ones to see.  Both the Zoo and Safari Park are a part of the same organization, San Diego Soo Wildlife Alliance.  I love them both.

Other attractions well worth visiting are the Midway aircraft carrier, and Birch Aquarium.

i hope you have a wonderful time!

hopei dint forget anyone!! thank yu so much and thanx for the tips!  i guess we'll play it by ear i think they went to a park recently, they sent pics with seals and other animals maybe it was the Aquarium.

they enjoy eating out with the kids who are very well-behaved at restaurants.   would like to go to Bali Hai restaurant . some reviews say kid-friendly but...anything they like will be fine!

they are so busy with the kids and work its like pulling teeth sometimes to get some ideas about what to pack!

@CatsyCline

I am wondering if they went to Sea World which is located in San Diego. When you mentioned the Seals that's the first thought that popped into my head.

I have been to the Bali Hai restaurant at least 10 years ago. I went with other adults, and then we took a ferry over to Coronado. We went during the work week for lunch, and it was perfect timing—not overcrowded.

I would go with the kids; it's a restaurant.

@icezeus   yes it was Sea World ...got confused.   i think they've hit all the attractions since they arrived in September! everything is so close by.  even SAN is just 20 min away v. the 2 hrs to/from SeaTac .

@CatsyCline

Check out LegoLand that is located in Carlsbad. They may have already taken the kids, since you mentioned that they have hit all of the attractions.  I use to take my niece there, when she was a little girl. She is now 30 years old, where did the time go?

@icezeus  just asked my son and they have not been to Legoland and my grandson loves Legos. its no more than 30 min. and there is a nice looking beach in Carlsbad too!   5 miles of beautiful sandy beach.

ikwym..about the time....!!

Not sure what the acronym means. LOL

Also Google "The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch". I have never been there, but over the years,  I have passed it on the freeway.  It's off the 5 freeway in Carlsbad, and absolutely gorgeous when the flowers are in bloom.
