Sizing & Sizing Charts….. such a big problem

I ordered the beautiful Isaac Mizrahi Gingham Organza Box Pleat Skirt in black. I looked at the size chart and followed the measurements as stated for my waist and hips. Normally, I wear a size 12, sometimes even a 10, but went with a 14 because of the chart measurements. Well....it is huge!!!! Times like this, I just tell myself, "no more buying clothes without trying them on" I have ordered from Isaac's line before and the items have been all over the place in terms of fit. Now I have to send it back and I really hate having to spend the time and money doing this. So frustrated!

Great suggestion @gigy.  I just ordered some Susan Graver & Denim & Company clothing and sure hope the fit is right.  I dread the thought of returning them, because I live in Hawaii and the QVC shipping costs are exponentially higher than on the mainland.

Re: Sizing & Sizing Charts….. such a big problem

The sizing issue is getting worse not better with all the lines of clothing...everywhere. Yes, there may be a few exceptions which are a great find but those are few. I check the sizing charts and read the description. If I can, I try to watch the presentaion or the video (if posted) on line. The one thing that drives me crazy is why they have only size xxs or xs models in  the clothes. What about a size Medium? The other fact that I would like to know is if they are wearing spanx or not and how many layers. I assume they are. Not all hosts state if an item is running true to size or noi. It is such a frustration and expense for the customer. QVC does not want so many returns and customers would like to keep what they purchased provideing that it fits properly. Seems to me that quality control left the bullding. What I really don't understand is with the buying power that QVC has why they have not utilized that power with this issue.

Agree. I follow the size chart and it's wrong more often than not. I've spent more money on returns due to sizing. If it's something that I really really want, I'll order one in my regular size and one a size larger just in case it sells out by the time I get sizing figured out.

@gigy @Mimi 1883  Did you look at the actual garment measurements?  Many people don't know they're available.  Read the text describing the garment and at the end it mentions the measurement and says "click here".  It is wise to measure something in your closet that fits well, then find similar measurements on the garment.

If the click here measurements don't match the item you received then you don't have to pay return shipping. Just call customer service and they will have you send it back on their dime. If more people did this then maybe they'd address their quality control problem!

Re: Sizing & Sizing Charts….. such a big problem

I don't think QVC sizing is any worse than clothing from other sources.  I've found items from the same brand in department stores can vary wildly in size.  Items cut at the same time can even vary.  The one on the top of the pile can be quite different from those on the bottom.  That's just the nature of the garment industry.

Re: Sizing & Sizing Charts….. such a big problem

I used to order all my shoes at the Q because I wear an 11 wide which is impossible to find in a department store. But lately, the sizes have become too long or too short for the same size I have always gotten and it costs $12.95 to get them and return them.  So I switched to the online sites like 6pm, Online shoes or amazon. Free shipping and free returns. And they have 11 wides galore. Too bad QVC, you lose. I know they don't care.

@geegerbee   Hmmm, I wear a size 11B shoes and have ordered many from QVC as well as dozens from Zulily and a few from Zappo's.  I've never returned a pair to QVC and found one brand whose shoes run short, Spring Step, and Zulily agreed to take them back.  Maybe the problem is your shrinking/expanding feet?

Re: Sizing & Sizing Charts….. such a big problem

The sizing has gotten ridiculous over the last few years...I'll buy two pairs of the same pants and one will fit significantly different. I buy the same size I always have of something, and it won't fit the same.

Just last week, I bought two pairs of sandals--same size, two different colors. While both are wearable, one pair is noticeably longer than the other!

It wouldn't be so bad if we weren't charged shipping both ways, but still, it shouldn't be happening SO OFTEN!
