While I shop from QVC, I rarely buy clothing.  I have never exchanged any item I did buy for another size.  However, I recently purchased something and need to size up.

How does QVC handle exchanges?  Do I just reorder in a new size and return the old one?  Or do I tell them I want a new one and they send it with no new shipping charge, or???

Thanks in advance.

Re: Silly question re exchanges

There is information on the website about returns and exchanges. You could also call customer service or do a live chat.

There really is no such thing as an exchange.  You pay return shipping and shipping to get the new size.  I would order the new size now and send the other one back.  If you're concerned about having two charges at once, you could return and wait for the return to be processed before the new size ships.

Re: Silly question re exchanges

Thanks.  I sort of remember doing an exchange at HSN and they covered the new shipping or something like that.  I will have to seriously decide if I want to try the new size if I have to pay S/H both ways again.

It's so hard to try a new brand of clothes when you have to pay so much in S/H each way (the $3 isn't bad at all, but returning gets expensive).

Re: Silly question re exchanges

I have exchanged for another size a few times. Here's what my experience has been:

If the size is in stock, they send it to me. It almost always is a return. I do not get charged any additional S&H.

If I go from a regular to a petite, that is considered a completely separate item number and I cannot do an even exchange.

If the size I want is not in stock, they refund as they would a returned item.

This has been my experience as well. I just had to return a pair of sandals that was defective but I still wanted them so on the paperwork I checked to exchange them and was sent a new pair (they are perfect and on my feet today!) and I was not charged any further shipping.

You don't pay return shipping or another shipping charge if the item is defective, but you do if it's a sizing issue or you don't like it.

Re: Silly question re exchanges

Agree with the other posts. I have found that if it's something I want very badly if I wait until the exchange is processed I can lose out because in the meantime what I want is sold out. If  I can afford it, I order the the new size or color etc upfront and do the other as a return. But then you really are paying shipping and handling twice. I also use the option of paying for the shipping return myself. This means taking it to the post office but it's usually so much less than what QVC charges for the return postage. On some items it's really outrageous.

As an aside, it seems that it takes forever for exchanges and returns to process.

Re: Silly question re exchanges

I have been shopping with QVC for 30 years, but I am finished!  I just called because I need to exchange a pair of shoes for a different size...the size I ordered IS my usual size, but they are too big.  Anyhow, I was told that I would have to pay return shipping and shipping again for the new pair!!!!  I have no intention of paying $20 total shipping...no intention whatsoever!  Good luck with your exchange...I'm shopping elsewhere.

Re: Silly question re exchanges

If you ordered a clothing item using the click here measurements and have to exchange for another size because it does not fit well that is on your dime.  You do not get your original S&H back and you have to pay another shipping charge for the replacement.  This really aggravates me when it comes to shoes because if you order your normal, size and the manufacturer does not follow standard sizing how are you to know when you order.  This is why QVC gets virtually none of my clothing money now.
