Shopaholics One Day at a Time (Tuesday, Feb 1st)

Hello all, it's a balmy 42 degrees and the sun is shining outside of my window.  I've been up since 4:30 am; guess I got all of the sleep that my body needed.  I ran the lawnmower to burn the trace of gas that was still in the tank.  I don't want a lecture from the equipment maintenance guy, lol.  We're probably going to get at least a foot of snow tomorrow so I'm glad that the wildlife is eating like crazy today.

Since I don't know how my back will react to all of the shoveling, I dragged the Ariens snow thrower into the main part of the garage from the garage addition, added gas and ran it awhile.  I haven't started it in a couple of years so it was a bit fussy.  Thank goodness for electronic starter buttons.

Even though the snow blower has 5 speeds forward and 2 speeds back and is self propelled, I find it's like wrestling a dead man so that's why I prefer to use the snow joe shovel.  My husband bought the 824 when we bought this house and I'd swear that snowblower is a man's snowblower.  If worse comes to worse it's nice to have on hand.

I've done all I can to prepare for the snow so I'll sleep good tonight.

Bird Mama, we might get a few snow flurries.  I hope you don't get a foot of snow tomorrow.  It's a good thing to be prepared.  My dh bought a new snowblower last year and it's a workout for me.  I am glad the wildlife are eating like crazy.

My infusion went well yesterday, but I am very sore where the needle went in/came out.   I was able to go to the gym though.

We had a good lunch with our eldest dgs yesterday.  He got a free lunch to take home as they fixed the wrong thing for him & which he didn't notice until the counter gal came out and gave it to him.

I was able to get to BB&B & get the shower/wedding gifts for our nephew's fiance'.  The bridal shower is next month and the wedding is in May.

Off to get dinner.

Hugs to all of you.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time (Tuesday, Feb 1st)

meallen616, thanks for the beautiful picture.

January flew by.  So far our weather has been good.  I am waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Nothing exciting going on here.

Yesterday, I had a good talk with my nurses and they said to do what we feel safe doing so I told her we want to hit the road for a few weeks.  She said that's a NO right now.  I know she is right, but I was testing the water.  Our DD was sick with Covid on her birthday a couple of weeks ago, but since she was vaccinnated & Boosted, she had mild symptoms and is fine now.

Good Evening and thanks for getting us started, Bernie.  Good luck with the snow blower if you need to use it.  I imagine it is not easy to use.

A couple of musicians who used to live in the area and were in charge of the music for the "contemporary" service at my church moved to Michigan last year.  They had been very busy with performances prior to COVID, and had a second home in St. Joseph, Michigan.  I looked at a map, and I don't think that is near where you live.  Anyway, not long after COVID canceled all their performances, they started doing on-line concerts every Tuesday.  I usually try to attend, and today they were talking about the expected bad weather.  They were expecting a bunch of rain followed by a foot of snow.  Quite a contrast to Arizona weather, but they could no longer afford two homes once their income dried up.

Today was a cloudy day here, and it only made it up into the low 60's. Starting tomorrow, they are predicting cooler highs, and lows in the mid 20's for a few days.

Nice picture meallen.

I'm not surprised the nurse advised against travel at this time, Glenda.  I didn't realize your DD had COVID.  At least it was mild.

Today I had a handyman come to fix the dryer hose  inside the house (broken) that went from the dryer to the outside from the storage closet (fell off).  To prepare for his visit, I spent quite a bit of time pulling things out of the small laundry area and the storage closet.  And, I found things to donate and trash. I was pleased that he could do the job in an hour, so I only needed to pay his hourly fee ($50).  It used to be $40, but he raised it twice since the last time I used him (more than a year ago.)

I heard from Jean that she had to go into the city today, and needs to return tomorrow for her cardiology appointment.

Bev just called me, and said she really appreciates you doing the novena for her, Bernie.  She was busy today -- first having a shot in her eye, and then seeing a doctor about her hyperbaric (?) treatments.  Turns out that she will need to go Monday - Friday for eight weeks.  The facility is 1 1/2 hours away, and she needs to be in a chamber of sorts for two hours.  There are many restrictions when she is in the chamber -- no lotions, no cell phone, no hearing aids, etc., etc.   What a difficult time for her.

Waves to all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone sleeps well.

Hugs,

Linda

Glenda @twinny70   I know you and your beloved have cabin fever and will be glad when you can travel more.

Linda @LindaLatte  Bev's fight for life humbles me.  I don't know that I have that kind of strength.  My sister Mary is also praying the novena.  The musicians are on the west coast of the state.  I'm north of Detroit, not quite the east coast - they're gonna get hit before me and I'm sure this storm is really going to make them miss beautiful AZ.
