Hi everyone!
I'm running behind on my Christmas duties. I came down with some "bug" over the weekend but feel a bit better today (at least I'm up and dressed) I still have more to do than usual but am trying to "pace" myself. That's something that I have yet to master.LOL
This afternoon I hope to accomplish the wrapping and make the final plans for Christmas dinner.
Our weather has taken an odd turn and we have sun and warmer temps for the afternoon. The snow has melted on the ground so I hope tihe ice will do the same on the patio and top of driveway.
So far, I've resisted the TSV for today. I had just ordered a few pair of the D&C jogger pants /sweatpants the last month. I find that I'm reaching for them more than times than not. I have to get back on track.
Have a good afternoon/evening.

What luck to have a person who can tackle those "fix it" issues. There's not too many any more. We had to replace a similar type lighting in our laundry room a few years ago and it's so much nicer now. It sounds like your ceiling /light connection is more complicated that what we have but lighting always seems to be a bit "tricky" regardless. I am becoming a fan of the LED bulbs. It does seem to make a difference.
I hope things calm down for everyone. The extra hours at any job is a big challenge in addtion to "life". I hope things calm down for all of them.

Good Evening! It does seem like the year has flown by, Bernie. I am very grateful that I am feeling much better than last year and was able to see my family this year. Fingers crossed 2026 will be another good year for me and for all of you.
Hope you were able to pick up the things you need and get the wrapping complete. Does your sister read the threads? If not, I would be interested in what gifts she will receive this year. I know you are very generous and she really appreciates it.
Sorry about that bug, Fressa. This area had record highs today -- 85 degrees, I think. They are predicting cooler weather later in the week and a chance of rain on Christmas Eve and Christmas. No chance of snow because it is too warm.
I have come to appreciate LED lights as well. Hope the ones I ordered do the trick.
Since I had the day off work, I decided to do some cooking and baking. I forgot how long that making Christmas cookies and panettone takes. I just made the spritz cookies that are my favorites. I plan to take some in to the senior lunch program plus a banana bread I made. Also may take a few pieces of panettone.
I took a walk in the morning and a walk around 4:30 p.m. Other than cooking (some food for dinner in addition to the baking), I have not done much except a little cleaning.
The TSV sparked my interest, but I decided not to order since I have purchased so many "at home" clothes lately -- some here, some at Walmart. But, DD texted me and asked if I would order the TSV in black for her. She has been having trouble finding something for around the house and simple errands in the local stores. They are predicting delivery on January 2nd -- so it will be an after Christmas gift.
Waves to Fressa, Bernie, SouthernFried, Susan, and all of our posters and readers.
Sleep well everyone!
Hugs,
Linda

@LindaLatte Linda my sister knows I post on the Q community. She was never one for message boards, facebook, reddit and such.
She mentioned that she wanted new flatware several months ago and I jumped on it and bought the pattern that she wanted. She knows she's getting silverware, lol. I'm giving her gift cards to Meijer's, Burger King (the one burger fast food type of place she will eat from) and her favorite pizza joint. I always get her milk chocolate covered pretzels and a box of Cella's cherries. The Cella's cherries date back to our childhood.
She was having recurrent tire issues this year. I'm talking about a new set where one kept leaking. Honestly she took her car back so many times and replaced that tire so many times that I thought she was going to lose her mind.
You know it's hard to find gas stations that have working air pumps. In August I sent her home with my small compression/air tire inflator. My sister doesn't fuss with her car like I do. The compressor that I sent home with her requires her to take her tire pressure (her monitoring system on the tired is kaput and not worth replacing due to the age of the car), connect the compressor to a heavy duty electrical cord and then attach the hose to the valve them by scrooing it on the tire.
I have an attached garage and using that tire compressor can be a PITA for me when it's cold outside.
I noticed about 2 weeks ago that thanks to the cold snap my own tires were down about 6 lbs of air pressure. I didn't go to her house or ask her to bring the compressor back to me. On a lark I picked this up from Meijer.
It took a couple of hours to charge and I said, okay let's put it to the test. Here's what I love about it. All you need to know what to do is read and find the recommended tire pressure on the driver side door area of your car.
Once it's charged up - you set the measurement type - in the US it's PSI.
You set the target PSI - mine was 32 lbs on a cold tire. The tip of the hose clamps on the valve stem. You hit start. It measures your current PSI on each tire, adds air until it hits the target PSI and shuts itself off.
I've been puttering with cars my entire life. Never topped off 4 tires so quickly in my life.
As soon as I was done I said, now this is the type of compressor/tire that was made for my sister. I went back to Meijer and bought one for her.
This may not be the most exciting gift but I can tell you that she will love it the first time that she has to use it. I'm going to deflate the tires on my car by a couple of pounds. After she opens presents tomorrow I am going to say - let me show you how to charge this and use this.
I paid cash and will include the receipt in the gift. If she hates it she can take it back.

Good Afternoon! I'm sure your sister will love those gifts, Bernie. I heard something on the radio that younger people are perfectly fine with cash or gift cards, but older people may prefer a gift.
Unfortunately, I do not have any older relatives at this point, and I know my DD and family, my younger friends, and "service workers" (like trash collectors, etc.) are happy with cash or gift cards.
The senior lunch program was not well attended yesterday, and we had a huge number of treats. So, I think those who attended were pretty happy, and all the cookies, banana bread, and panettone I brought were taken.
I volunteered at the White Elephant this morning, and it was not busy. We started having light rain yesterday night, and it continued today, which was no doubt part of the reason for the lower attendance -- just about half as many as the first time I volunteered. It is also chilly compared to our record highs -- in the 50's at the moment. Oh well, I still kept busy the whole time (mostly straighting up and collecting hangers). The White Elephant will be closed until January 2nd or 5th.
My replacement kitchen lights came yesterday, and my "handy man" is coming Friday morning to install them. And, my HVAC company called to set up my winter furnace check for New Years Eve morning.
Waves to Bernie, Fressa, SouthernFried, Susan, and all of our posters and readers.
Wishing all of you who celebrate a Very Merry Christmas!
Hugs,
Linda
I worked at the White Elephant this morning, and it was a bit disappointing compared to the first time. We had light showers

It felt like spring yesterday - 53 degrees and sunny. Today is a bit more seasonal (upper 30's). We're not expecting snow for Christmas and I'm okay with it because we got snow earlier in the month.
For the posters who celebrate Christmas Eve, I hope you have a wonderful and peaceful evening.
