Good evening ladies, hope all is well.
Bernie - I did not do any Black Friday shopping, I did go out for Small Business Saturday. I would rather support the small business over the large box stores.
I put up my Christmas decorations today, it does not take real long because I got rid of a lot of them last year. I don't have the flat surfaces I used to have and some of them were getting over 20 years old They were still in good shape so I donated a bunch to St. Vincent DePaul. I have decided that I was going to buy new packing supplies and get rid of all the styrofoam used in the boxes of the decorations. It looked like it snowed in my familyroom.
Our weather has not been bad, we have had snow flurries a few days ago but that was it. Today was in the 40's but dropping the rest of the week. I love fall, but I am not ready for snow and cold weather.
Not much else going on here, hope everyone has a great evening.

Good Evening! Glad the weather was not too bad in your area, Bernie. It has been nice here -- highs in the low 70's and lows in the mid 40's when I take my walks. I would prefer it to be warmer in the morning, but I certainly cannot complain. They are predicting cooler weather this week -- highs only in the 60's and a chance of rain and wind.
I was wondering about what I have been doing -- seems like I'm very busy, but not accomplishing as much as I would like. My back has been bothering me, and I'm not sleeping as well as I could. It was really bad yesterday because it was pretty late when I did my weekly financial review, and I made some ridiculous errors. It bothered me enough that I spent a couple of hours this morning straightening things out. By the time I took my walk and ate breakfast, it was too late to go to church. Very happy that they stream the service on FB.
I didn't buy anything on Friday, but I have taken advantage of some "Black Friday" sales. From here, I ordered a couple of flashlights V89625. They were expensive (in my opinion), but I thought they could be helpful when my kitchen light malfunctions as it did the other day.
Lands End was having a big sale with free shipping, and I ordered a nice 3/4 cotton tunic. I have another one, and find it quite nice for the warmer weather.
A few other practical items from Amazon (like furnace filters.
There are some really nice small businesses in the area, but I could not think of anything they carried that I need/want.
My house is pretty much decorated, but I need to put away a lot of boxes, etc.

Hope everyone sleeps well.
Hugs,
Linda

Hi Everyone!
We've had rain and wind gusts for the the last few days. Not sure why we are getting so much wind this season but.....Today we had a bit of sun and then the clouds arrived.Weather warnings have been posted for an ugly snow storm arriving around midnight. UGH!! I'd prefer if we're going to have a bd storm that it arrive during the daylight hours. I had some trouble signing in over the weekend but today it seemed fine.
The trees are up and decorated. The yard display with Frosty looks good considering how old the Frosty blow mold is. I got that when my son was little and he's 52 now. The shed must be doing a decent job of keeping it dry. The Bethlehem lights wreath that I purchased this year actually looks better in person than id did on air. It has the new mini lights which throw a nice broad swath of light.
I'm running behind on the small gift purchases and the holiday cards and postage I need for the season. Hopefully, I can tackle that this week sooner than later. I still want to bake some cookes this year. Crossing my fingers that I can get a few dozen. I do enjoy the desserts and treats!
Have a good afternoon and evening.

Good Evening! Hope none of you had bad storms. Jean posted something about Walmart delivering even in the snow, so I guess they had snow in her area. According to the weather report, they had ice in my MD DGS' area this morning. Ice is not good for sure.
I still have not put away the empty boxes or my Fall decorations -- yes, I am ashamed. Just seems to be more important things to do plus my back is still bothering me. Hopefully, most will be done later this evening or tomorrow.
The Sheriff's Auxiliary was pretty good yesterday afternoon, but I was very sorry to learn that a couple of pedestrians (some said bicyclists) were hit by a car coming off the highway exit ramp very nearby. I guess the driver didn't see them, but.... Anyway, one of the individuals (there was a man and a woman) was in critical condition the last I heard.
The Sheriff's Auxiliary Scam squad made a presentation before the senior lunch program this morning -- very good and interesting from what I could hear (I was busy getting things ready for lunch). There were quite a few people at lunch -- several new people and it mostly went well. But, one lady falsely accused another of jumping into line. She was shouting and most disagreeable. The other lady ended up in tears. Yikes!
The really good news is that my SIL has found another job which he is starting next Monday. I do not know any details, but hopefully he will be happy there and have much nicer bosses.

Hope everyone sleeps well.

We had a dusting of snow Monday night and it was easy to get up Tuesday morning. It looks like we can expect snow on and off for the next week - nothing dramatic. I need to get myself off of dead center this week and decorate for the holidays. I tend to keep my decor up until MLK day so I have time, lol.
Linda I am so happy to read that your SIL has found another job. As far as the dust up at the senior lunch program - I don't even know what to say.

Hi Everyone!
We have snow! The temps are cold with a winter forecast for the remainder of the week. The dogs and I are enjoying this while it lasts.
LindaLatte---What good news about you SIL finding a job. Such a relief.
We had some excitment on Monday evening. The neighbor took her dog for a walk down the street and smelled gas. She called the gas company and they were here with quite a few tucks and lights until early morning. The end result was that there was a gas leak under the street near the water line main issue in the spring/fall. It's repaired but the gas company is saying that the water line repair is what dmaged the gas line. I don't know if that solves the issue or just postpones a follow-up in better weather. I'm still trying to understand why you would put either line under the road instead of running it down the sides.(as they do on the other areas here) Thank goodness the neighbor had the quick response. You just never know.
I think I'm done with holiday shoping except for gift cards. I'm at the mid level panic of not getting the delivery guys gifts in time with the last few deliveries and the birthday and Christmas cards posted in time. We have quite a few birthdays around the holidays in our family. Today I'm pushing the Dyson around the house to calm myself. LOL I know lots of people shop or do other choices but I need to clean when I get stressed.
Have a nice afternoon/evening.

Good Afternoon/Evening! Hope you get around to decorating soon, Bernie. But, please don't push it since you do leave them up until MLK day. I always try to take mine down by January 2nd -- just habit.
Hope you are less stressed after cleaning, Fressa. I do not have the same solution for calming myself -- but for each her own. That is scary about the gas line.
After I posted yesterday, I did put away my Fall decorations and the boxes from my Christmas ones. Found a couple of things to donate (not Christmas decorations, but.....) I was busy patting myself on the back. LOL
DD has been busy with work, but she sent a few updates via email this morning. She is feeling much better now that my SIL has a job and benefits. The stress has caused her to lose 8 pounds which she really did not need to lose. Fingers crossed she will feel more like eating now.
I went to the grocery store and Walmart this morning -- fortunately, I did not need too much. Walmart was not crowded, but the grocery store was since it is "senior day" where many of us get a discount (10%, I think). The latest was that the self checkouts no longer accept cash since there is a penny shortage. Not a problem today, but when I only buy a few things, I prefer paying cash. Oh well.
This afternoon I had my hair cut, and I plan to watch the rest of one of my OLLI class recordings this afternoon.
It is very cloudy and cool here -- 52 degrees at the moment, and we may have some light rain this afternoon. They are predicting a low of 35 degrees tonight. That probably sounds warm to most of you, but it is pretty chilly for me.
Waves to Fressa, Bernie, Susan, Barbara, and all of our posters and readers.
Hope everyone sleeps well.
Hugs,
Linda
