Shopaholics One Day at a Time (Mon., Feb. 15th)

Good Morning Woman Happy  I would add from the 'winter wonderland that is Michigan' however it looks like much of the country is a winter wonderland these days.

Me and Snowjoe (my shovel) are going to be besties this week.  I shoveled yesterday morning, will be shoveling this morning, could be shoveling tonight and will definitely be shoveling tomorrow.  We're expecting 5-8 inches of heavy snow that should start around 6 pm tonight.

Somebody reading this might think, what in the heck does this have to do with fashion?  Well, I'll tell ya.  All of this snow shoveling makes me miss the Lizden washable suede gloves that QVC used to sell.

I was never clear if Lizden was a stand alone brand or a QVC house brand.  I bought many pairs of these gloves and am down to my last two, one of which hasn't been worn yet.

Right now I'm using a decent pair of suede lined gloves that I bought from Kmart a few years ago (Jaclyn Smith brand).

Suede gloves really grip a snow shovel well.  Knowing that the Q stopped selling Lizden gloves years ago I've been on the hunt for a few years for ladies lined suede gloves and it's hard to find them for sale.  Maybe this is like everything else fashion and it trends until it doesn't.  Maybe suede gloves will come back into favor and when it does, I'll be ready, lol.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time (Mon., Feb. 15th)

Bernie--Thank you for starting the thread. Our Snow Jo shovels are ready to handle whatever nature hands us. We have just had primarily ice with a little snow cover. I do remember those gloves. There are many things that the Q used to carry that are missed.

Now, this really goes way back but one of my favorite suits was made by Fashion Formulas which I think evolved into Denim & Co and a little more casual. I really liked the Dialogue line which had items that were a little more classy and good for professional purposes. I also liked the White Mountain line of shoes. They wore well and were reasonably  priced.

Right now, I am watching Susan Graver.  I don't have a need for anything from that line. I did like the Anybody jogging pants so well that I ordered another pair while there was free shipping. The price was good also.

As soon as the SG hour is over, I will have lunch and then read before returning to doing something around the house.  I can't wait for this nasty winter to be over.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time (Mon., Feb. 15th)

Hi Everyone!

Birdmama--I have those same gloves in teal blue and use them for throwing ice melter on the driveway. They were great!!!!

We have snow, ice and sleet. It's like a skating rink on the patio. I'm hoping that the additional snowfall will create a cushion out there for the dogs. They Understand the command "slow" so they don't go charging outside for games. I had to wear my hiking boots just to get to the bench. Like many we have more of this coming today and tonight.

The only item I ordered on free shipping Sunday was a wood polish. That's sad. The pop-it slider shelves were sold out. That's what I had on my list. I do need a new polish for the kitchen cabinets and have had good luck with the Don Astlet and Campenelli lines.

KomKat---I saw a pair of knit Anybody jogger pants that keeps catching my eye. Now, I'm kicking myself that I did not order them yesterday. I prefer leggings just for the support for my leg but I do like the joggers when I'm doing chores around the house.

Our snowblower keeps blowing out the bolts so there's a snag. Now, we have a trip to the hardware store (after the blizzard) to see if we can find a replacement. Our blower is old so replacement parts are difficult to locate. Late Friday night we started searching online for snowblowers. I just had this nagging feeling that winter might be here longer than this storm. Well....we found a SnowJoe at HomeDepot (who knew?) and it was on a super sale. That was our big purchase for Feb. I hope it makes the snow removal a bit easier for the hubby. We'll have to rearrange the garage to fit it in because he still wants to keep the gas blower. (one project always leads to another..)

I received the Kalorik air fryer already so that's on the list for this afternoon. I also received the garden statue that I ordered last week . QVC was fast or I was lucky with these two.

Have a good afternoon/evening.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time (Mon., Feb. 15th)

Bird Mama, I am going to be searching for warm gloves and mittens as I have lost 3 pairs so far.  We have a winter  advisory until noon today.  It's going to be a high of 5° today.  Still better than the Icey areas with no power.  We lost power for one day on 03/04/77.    It was a niusance, but it would be much worse for me not to have A.C. in the summertime.

Jean, I never bought Dialogue as I was no longer working at that time.  D & Co,  Sport Savvy & SG were my go to.  I can still remember wanting to get the D & Co long denim coat so bad, but it sold out and they never got it back in.

I just got a call from our pharmacist that we can get our next vaccination at 1:00 this afternoon.   That's the excitement for the day!

I will let you know how we are doing.

Hugs to all of you.

Re: Shopaholics One Day at a Time (Mon., Feb. 15th)

Good Morning/Afternoon and thanks for getting us started, Bernie.  I hope you are able to find more gloves like you want.  I have extremely cold hands and feet when it is even slightly cold out, so I even wear gloves sometimes here in southern Arizona.  When I lived in Maryland, I kept buying more and more gloves since I had the bad habit of losing them (like Glenda, I guess).   I think one pair of gloves that was really warm came from REI.  It was a gift pair, so I have no idea about the cost, etc.

Hi Jean.  As you know, I ended up ordering a pair of the Anybody joggers you like since there was free shipping.  Hope that I like them.  The day before, I ordered the Vera Bradley "face coverings" that were on sale.  Those were the first two purchases from the Q this year.  At least I resisted for a bit more than a month.   I used to buy those "old" brands here as well, and Dialogue made some very nice blazers and skirts that I wore to work.

Hi Fressa -- hope you and your DH like your new snowblower and air fryer.

Glad you and your DH are getting the second vaccine today, Glenda.  DH's DD called yesterday evening, and I asked -- she had no more than a sore arm from the second shot.  But, she said some of her colleagues had very bad headaches, etc.

Hope all of you in the cold/icy/snowy zone stay safe. I know from FB that Kathleen's area of Texas is having lots of issues like power outages, etc.  Definitely a cold winter in many areas.  It is chilly here this morning (went down to the mid 30's last night), but should make it up to the mid 60's today and no snow or rain is predicted.  That is much more to my liking than cold and icy weather.

I had my OLLI American Revolution class this morning, and it concentrated on George Washington -- how appropriate for "President's Day".  Good class as usual.  I have a Zoom church meeting this afternoon, and I have a few other chores to do.

DD said it wasn't icy there -- thank goodness and everyone seems to be doing okay today.

Waves to all of our posters and readers.  Have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda
