Good Afternoon! Sorry the weather is so nasty in your areas Fressa and Bernie. Also sorry your health is being affected Fressa. It was 80 degrees here this morning at 5:30 a.m., and it was pretty hot on my walk half an hour or so later.
After my hair appointment, I plan to go to the grocery stores and Walmart. Very few specials that appeal to me. Oh well....
I have been reading/hearing about high energy prices this summer. It is a combination of people needing to use AC much more due to the heat plus the cost of electricity. Some people are spending 50% or more this summer. Not good.
My DGS' wife posted on FB a sort of Amazon "wish list" for their new baby expected next month. I was pleased that the list is much more sensible (in my opinion) than the things she wanted for the twins. Mostly practical things like diapers plus gift cards for food delivery. Anyway, I went ahead and ordered some things on the list. So easy with Amazon.
I also saw a very disturbing post on FB from DH's friend's son that said he (DH's friend) is suffering from Alzheimer's. I really hate that disease and other forms of dementia. Praying for a cure.
Waves to Fressa, Bernie, Barbara, Susan, Glenda, and all of our posters and readers.
Hope everyone sleeps well.
Hugs,
Linda

Linda @LindaLatte prices are sky rocketing and your granddaughter has wisely differentiated between the 'have to have' and 'want to have' items for the new baby. I'm glad that you got the shopping for baby out of the way before the prices go up even further.
I'm sorry that your DH's friend has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. You would know better than the rest of us how hard that is to navigate.

I,'m back...I spent the past couple of days Recovering from the flight home, it took me two days to get from New York to grand Forks.
My flight back was from LaGuardia to Chicago to Minneapolis to Grand Forks. They're obviously no round trips and I had to figure my flights with my brother who lives in Michigan, so the only had to make one trip to the airport. The flight from LaGuardia to Chicago ran into trouble because of terrible weather in Chicago. They actually close the airport down so we had a divert to Detroit.
because of the weather they could not fly out of Detroit to Chicago so we had an overnight in Chicago with hotel accommodations and food provided the hotel was quite lovely, but I was exhausted because I had to rebook my flights and that took about an hour and a half just sitting waiting and by the time I got to the hotel it was 1130. My flight to Minneapolis was at seven so I did not get much sleep
however I did make it back and spent Tuesday and yesterday cottage just taking care of myself. I had a wonderful visit with my brothers and wives. My sister-in-law isn't gourmet cook so we had wonderful healthy food. They ate a couple of times the big highlight was for they celebrated my birthday and my niece's birthday with fresh lobster it was so good
had lots of good visits with everyone. My youngest brother is really interested in getting some more family history so I shared that with him. we didn't do much sightseeing Jim my youngest brother kind of took care of me and Bonnie. My sister-in-law would take my other brother and sister-in-law out and about to do things
I had really had no pain and slept extremely well so all in all it was a good great visi
I'm in the process of getting my infusion and still having an impact my suitcase lol but at my age, I can take my time.
I am using voice to type this, so there are some errors in what I have said
so I just wanted to let you know that I am back in lovely North Dakota and will be feeling much better after my infusion
much love to all😎😎

Good afternoon ladies, hope all is well.
Linda - I am sorry to hear about DH's friend, lost my SIL a couple weeks ago ( not sure it I had posted that) to dementia and it is hard to see them decline. Glad to hear your Sheriffs Auxiliary job is going well. I do think it would be very interesting. I do have one question - Who would get close enough to a gila monster to be bitten?
sydsgma1 - Glad you enjoyed your trip and hope your back to your full self soon. It sounds like it was a lot of fun.
Glad to hear there has been some relief to the weather for some. Our weather has been slightly cooler this week. We are only at 74 degrees to day, I actually put a 3/4 length sleeve on. We are having Gutter Guard put new gutters on the house so I am sure the guys working on the house are enjoying the break in the weather.
Not much is happening around here, so I am off to make my own excitement.
Have a good afternoon everyone.

Good Afternoon! Good point about the price increases, Bernie. I am thinking about ordering some more diapers for my DGS' wife. I can't imagine how expensive it will be to keep all three children in diapers.
Great that you are home and getting your infusion, Barbara. What a nice visit, but getting home was certainly a challenge. Happy they celebrated your birthday while you were there.
If my house had gutters (which it does not). I would be interested in Gutter Guards, Susan. They look like such a good solution for many problems.
I do remember about your SIL, and watching the decline is horrible. Unlike DH's other friend (who helped me when I was in Maryland), this one pretty much stopped calling once DH developed dementia. So, I have not heard anything about what was going on with him for several years. He was a very active guy. Very sad.
The latest news is that a lady about my age who lives fairly close by was bitten by a rattlesnake right in her own backyard. I don't know any details, but yikes!
In answer to your question -- at least one (and I think both) of the people bitten by gila monsters were attempting to move them out of harms way (at least one was on the road not far from the gym). I remember one of the guys said that while being bitten was no fun (he was hospitalized for a few days), he would do it again. A real animal lover -- even gila monsters. Obviously, the gila monster was not much of a human lover. LOL
Still very hot weather here, but they are saying it might be cooler and maybe even rain by the middle of next week.
I have not been outside since I took my walk this morning. I do plan to go to the gym in a little while. Meanwhile, I am cleaning out my desk -- long overdue project that I can do indoors.
Waves to Susan, Barbara, Bernie, Fressa, Glenda, and all of our posters and readers.
Hugs,
Linda

Barbara @sydsgma1 I'm so glad that you had a good time despite the flight issues. I know you were glad to sleep in your own bed.

Susan @PAlady I offer my deepest sympathy on the loss of your SIL.

Linda @LindaLatte as scary looking as they are, I would probably try to help a Gila Monster too. I'd be praying out loud to God and everyone I knew in heaven (including deceased family members, lol) that the Gila Monster wouldn't bite me.
I was raised in the city so I grew up seeing all kinds of birds and mostly squirrels. Years ago, the night before an interview for a promotion I was sleeping on the sofa and heard the bird bath bowl topple. It was one of those concrete 2 piece birdbaths where the bottom of the bowl (male piece) fit into the female piece of the stem/base whatever you want to call it.
Everything goes sideways for me around the midnight hour and I shot up and said what in the hel* was THAT. I turned on the patio light and saw the bowl flipped off of the base onto the patio. The bowl had a fluted edge and I said, hmm, well if it broke, it broke and I lay back down. I had a feeling that I needed to check the patio so I stepped out of the family room with the patio light on and I could see a long pinkish tail poking out from under the fluted edge. I said Jesus Mary and Joseph is that a rat? What am I gonna do? I went into the garage addition and grabbed the square head shovel with the longest handle. I said out loud oh man, I don't know if I can do this. Maybe I should call police or someone to help me.
It was the strangest sensation. My fear FOR the little animal became greater than the fear OF the little animal and I said, okay little one under there I'm gonna help you. I was afraid it had a broken back or something and was injured.
I lgot the shovel under the fluted lip of the birdbath bowel and gently lifted it up. A baby possum scooted out towards me and I froze. It walked across the patio just fine and then took off like a dirty shirt when it got near the yew shrub.
I lowered the birdbath bowl back into position and left it there so nobody else would try to get a drink and flip it over and I got rid of that birdbath the following day.
Suffice it to say, my nerves were shot after the experience and later that morning had the easiest job interview ever. No nerves about the job after the possum.
