Re: Shopaholics One Day At A Time - Wednesday July, 6

Linda L, it is nice to hear that you are having a good day.  We had chicken for dinner & I feel good.  Dinner is our main meal & going without a potato is why I don't feel full.  I can't eat a baked potato without butter & mashed without milk/butter.  Tonight I had a slice of bread dry.

Jean, It is great news that you got a new printer.  I hope that the setup is easy.  It was nice that you got lunch out with your niece too.

SNICK's, I hope that your doggie feels better real soon.  That mess sounded awful.  I also did nothing all afternoon.  I am enjoying the A/C, but would rather have a nice breeze blowing in the windows.

FHG, That is great news about getting a new Eureka.  My first vacuum cleaner was Eureka & it lasted 30 years.  No water is aggravating as they always  tell us when they are going to turn the water off.

I am waiting for them to announce the $30,000 winner.  She is from WI & NO it is not me!

If anyone was interested in the pics Arlene posted about the bandit bird, I did update yesterday's thread.  Found it online.

I think it's a Starling.

@PAlady, thanks for the info about the chicken and rice. I did give her the ground beef and it seems to have made a difference. I think she is feeling better now, has got up and moseyed around the house and yard a bit, not running yet, but at least not just laying. No further diarrhea occurences anyway. Fur babies do cause us some worry, don't they, just like our human babies did, lol.

@twinny70, lol, it was not too pleasant, but she was trying to get to the door, so I was not upset with her. Anyway, she was sick. I prefer having windows open too, but in my state that doesn't happen too often from mid-May till maybe September. BTW, trucker girl spent her 4th of July weekend in your state, around Appleton somewhere, with a friend. She was born in Wi., and she has loved it ever since she started going there in the truck, again.

@Snicks1

I'm sorry your pup is under the weather.  Could it be summer complaint from the heat?  Also, when Max got an upset digestive tract, chicken and rice was the ticket.  Several days in a row.  I would buy a chicken (I have no idea what kind its called - a fryer?).  Anyway it was bare skinned and no head or feet.  I would boil the chicken in a stock pot then skin it when it was done.

The first time I cooked the chicken I cried - it was that upsetting.  After the first time I got good at it :-)

Sorry you were not the winner, twinny.  I forgot to ask, but I have to say that I wondered.  Oh well....  Glad you enjoyed the chicken, and I do understand about not wanting other foods without the regular accompaniments.

Sorry about the sick little dog, snicks.  I was told to use chicken and rice as well, but hopefully, the ground beef will work.

For some reason, DH was very sleepy at the club today.  He was sleeping in the "library" when I went to pick him up, and he has been sleeping since we got home.  I really don't understand why since he slept well last night.  Hope that doesn't mean he will be up tonight.

I saw a report about those birds, Bernie.  Pretty wild.

100 degrees without water is not good, Arlene.  Glad you will be able to have your car repaired for not too much money.

Sleep well everyone!

Re: Shopaholics One Day At A Time - Wednesday July, 6

@Bird mama, a couple years ago when she (dog) was sick (can't remember exactly with what, but I think it was diarrhea then too), I asked my vet and she told me to feed her the mix or rice and ground beef for a couple days. She does seem much better this evening, it may just have been the heat of the last couple days.

Thanks everyone for your concern for her.
