Shopaholics One Day At A Time: Friday, 11/14

Good morning ladies, hope all is well.

LInda - Glad you SIL made it out to see the family.  I am sure he was very excited to see everyone, hope he has no trouble getting home.  It is nice when people worry if you don't show up for something.  I guess it shows you are a very dependable person.

Fressa - Three trees??!!!  I barely get one up, and I would not put it up but, DH wants a tree.  I know I am the Grinch.

Bernie - Are you keeping the wildlife taken care of?  Our bird feeders have been very busy.  It is funny to see the change of birds.  The summer birds have left and the winter birds are arriving.  I still miss my humming birds.

Been a little busy around here, my mom ended up in the hospital for a couple days and now is home, but I have not gotten anything done around my house (and it is starting to look like it to).  So hopefully I can get a few things done today.  Not much on the schedule except washing clothes and doing some cleaning.

Hope everyone has a great morning.

Re: Shopaholics One Day At A Time: Friday, 11/14

Good Morning!  Thanks for getting us started, Susan.  Hope your Mom will feel better soon.  Also hope you can get some things done around the house.  I certainly have some housework and cooking to do, but it will need to wait until tomorrow.  I do not like a messy or dirty house, but many other things are more of a priority with me.

Yesterday, I ended up spending several hours with the Sheriff's Auxiliary Volunteers at my favorite thrift store.  Since there is an overabundance of front desk volunteers, I am not getting as many hours as I would like.  So, I tried out the thrift store "patrol" option. The volunteers are in uniform, and can help identify issues (like theft and things blocking the aisles, etc.), I really enjoyed it -- got in a ton of steps and helped out with keeping the place in order (people come in and do not always put back where they found them).  And, I helped some of the clients who had questions.  Did not see any theft, but... They were open three hours and had 999 patrons!

I had my annual eye doctor appointment late in the day, and that went well.  Need stronger reading glasses (I have progressives, so the reading part of the glasses).  It was getting dark, so I decided to go there this morning.  And, I work at the front desk in the afternoon.

Fingers crossed my SIL will make it home with no problems today.

Waves to Susan, Fressa, Bernie, Barbara (please check in if you are able), and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone has a nice day!

Hugs,

Linda

Hi Everyone!

I've been dealing with a delivery "mess" for the dogs chow, etc. this week and a stand-off between the vet's office and pharmachy for the dogs prescriptions.  UGH!!!  I'm waiting for the last "rush" shipment of chow to arrive (hopefully) today so I can calm myself.

I do enj;oy the holiday decorating ...just not the putting away part or the finding everything for the season part .LOL  I started with the multiple tree option when I had moved Mom in with me. It became a habit since then. This year I'm scaling back the seasonal decorating a bit. The plan is a little more for the next few years until I have some empty space in the storage room for "whatever".  Crossing my fingers that plan works better than the peeling wallpaper project.

I'm crossing my fingers for those that are traveling these next few weeks. I always remember those years when I was flying back and forth for the holidays and crossing my fingers not to "hit" weather woes or delays with the travel arrangements.

We did another round of leaf bagging yesterday so crossing my fingers this is "really" the last time. We have 2 trees that have a leaf the size of a football and what a mess when those drop.

Have a good aftenoon/evening.

LindaLatte---

Glad your eye doctor appointment went as planned. I need to get back on schedule with my appointments . I'm nearsighted  and I think I want a more simple style of lens instead of the what I have in my current glasses. I can't wear the contacs anymore with my allergies.

What an interesting afternoon with the store and the Sheriff's Auxiliary. I haven't seen that in local stores here but it might just be this area of the city. You certainly keep very busy. I wish I had your energy.

I'm crossing my fingers that your SIL makes it home without any "surprises".

Re: Shopaholics One Day At A Time: Friday, 11/14

Sorry, I posted this on the wrong thread --

Good Afternoon/Evening!  It is pretty cloudy this afternoon, but no rain is expected until tomorrow.  We are also expecting much cooler weather (lows in the 40's rather than the mid 50's and highs in the high 60's or low 70's).  When I changed sheets this morning, I brought out a light blanket just in case.

I took a nice walk this morning, and have been doing laundry and cooking.  It is extremely quiet, so I have watched some Q programming in between football games, etc.  So far, I have resisted ordering anything.  Certainly do not really need anything.  But, they sure make things look tempting.

Hope you were able to get your dog chow and medication for the dogs, Fressa.

My SIL made it home from Idaho with no problems.  DD's car in with the mechanic and apparently needs quite a bit of work.  Not good timing since my SIL is no longer employed and she is only working part-time.  Hopefully, he will find a job soon, and she will get more hours.

Waves to Fressa, Susan, Bernie, Barbara, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone sleeps well.

Hugs,

I'm catching up on posts which seems to be the norm these days Woman Frustrated

Susan @PAlady  I'm probably a bad wildlife supporter, lol.  I tend to give the birds and squirrels foods that are already shelled.  I don't make them work harder than they have to when they visit my yard.

I was giving the songbirds sunflower hearts until I ran out and I switched them over to suet nuggets this week.

My squirrels receive shelled raw unsalted peanuts and shelled raw almonds.

I started giving the squirrels the raw unsalted almonds in the spring/summer when they were reproducing and my intention was to harvest the walnuts from my black walnut tree.  I watched videos on how to do it and thought that I would have a bumper crop to harvest in the garage addition that would lead me at least into November.

Wouldn't you know, the black walnut tree didn't produce this year.  The squirrels know me so it's not like I could ignore them when they come into the backyard and stare at the kitchen window all the while putting their front feet together in a prayer position.

At this time my local stores are holding pretty good prices on the almonds and I stock up when they are on sale.

I'm sorry that your mother was recently hospitalized.  I've been there and done that for both of my parents and lots of things have to be left undone while you are working with a hospitalized parent.

@Fressa   My 'son' (dog) Max passed away in 2008.  Back then pet pharmacies were kind of new.  1-800-Pet Meds might have been in business back then, not sure.  I remember what it was like buying prescription food for Max and some meds like heartworm prevention, etc.

My vet had me where he wanted me because there weren't alot of options back then. They made big $$$ on prescriptions.

I can tell you sincerely that I would have a problem if a veterinarian gave me grief about sending prescriptions to a pet pharmacy today.

Linda @LindaLatte  oy, when it rains it pours.  I'm sorry that your daughter's car needs so much work.

We had mid 50's and 60 degree weather on Friday and Saturday.

I cleared the leaves in the backyard for the final time.  I did the front and think that one more time should do it.  I'm waiting for the neighbor's smaller sugar maple tree (curbside) to drop the rest of its leaves and the 3 leafy shrubs in my front yard garden bed to drop theirs.
