Shopaholics ODAT - Wednesday, October 7th

Hello there fellow shoppers :-)

Yesterday was a drippy, droopy, foggy day so it's good to see the sun shining.  Other than that, not much excitement here - just working.

Re: Shopaholics ODAT - Wednesday, October 7th

Good evening, everyone! I worked today and will the next two days. Right now, I'm enjoying a cup of coffee while watching Carolyn host a jewelry show.

Time is really flying and it won't be long until I leave for Hawaii. The rate at which I am working may mean I will really need the relaxation time on the trip. On the 26th, I  have an appointment with the neurologist to see if a sleep study is needed. That week is one I don't have booked with sub days right now except for one.

I haven't had the problems others have had logging in and posting except for one time. It is frustrating, however, to want to be able to post but be faced with technical problems.

Re: Shopaholics ODAT - Wednesday, October 7th

Good Afternoon/Evening!  Thanks for getting us started, Bernie.  Glad your weather is improved.

Sorry you are having so much trouble logging in, Marijane.  I have a system that only requires three extra steps.  First, I compose my post, then I select post.  Then it takes me to my log-in.  I try to log in, and it puts up the log-in a second time.  At that point, I push the back arrow twice.  It takes me to my post.  I have to put my cursor on the body.  Then, I select post again, and it works.  Yikes, but at least it saves me from the continuing loop of trying to log in.

Thanks for your good wishes.  I got DH to the center not long after it opened, and they were quite nice to him.  They offered him coffee or hot chocolate, and I suggested hot chocolate.  He thought I was staying, but didn't get upset when I said that I was not, just picking him up later.  I also showed him the bathroom.  No calls from them, so I'm hoping things are going well.  But, I'll find out later if that is true.

After dropping him up, I went to the "farmers market" -- not much food, mostly jewelry, etc.  Didn't find any temptations there.  Then, I went to the thrift shop, and I found a long sleeve shirt for him.  Then to the library to pick up a book I had reserved.  My hairdresser was at the salon, so I went there and had my hair cut.  It might have waited another week, but I'm happy it is done.  I stopped by another thrift shop, but I couldn't find anything for him, so no purchases.   I'll be leaving to pick him up shortly.

DD woke up at 2:00 a.m. last night and decided it was time to get up, but I forced him to go back to bed.  Between his antics and my night pains (don't know why my knee, etc. hurt at night and not the day, but....) I did not get much sleep.  I thought about taking a nap while he was at the center, but that did not happen.

Nice to look forward to your next Hawaii trip, Jean.  Glad you were able to work today, and set up that sleep study.

Waves to Kathleen, Arlene, twinny, Susan, Charlene, snicks, Karen, LindaR, Rosa, Gayle and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone has a nice evening!

Hugs,

Linda

Re: Shopaholics ODAT - Wednesday, October 7th

LindaL - I'm so hoping DH doesn't have a rotten time at the club today.  Just reading the description brought tears to my eyes.

I'm a very direct person which can be offputting to some people.  Deep inside I'm a closet crybaby about saying goodbye.  For example - airports, train stations - I can guarantee I will cry saying goodbye to you when I drop you off and will cry saying hello when I pick you up.

I would have probably kept up a stiff upper lip if it had been me leaving DH at his new club, but I can guarantee you, I would have lost it in the car.

If DH settles in at the new place, you will probably be able to relax more the next times you take him.

I'm on the edge of my seat - hoping the news of his day is good.

Linda--I certainly hope that this arrangement works out well for DH. He may well enjoy it, and it will give you a needed break. I know it must have been difficult to leave him. We are all awaiting the news that he did well at his new experience.

I have no idea what grade it is that I am subbing in tomorrw as I don't know the teacher and the website handling sub assignments doesn't give the grade level.

Linda I'm hoping all went well and so glad you have this option and that he didn't give you a hard time about leaving.

Marijane, if this posts I will be surprised. I've had terrible trouble signing in for about a month now.  I still read pretty regularly but very irritating to lose posts and not be able to "converse".  So many times I go back to respond and it disappears.

Re: Shopaholics ODAT - Wednesday, October 7th

Hi girls! Oh, I hate this new board - always a new problem!   Cat Frustrated

Nothing much going on here; I had originally planned on getting some packages mailed to the troops - they've been sitting in my office for quite a while - and then going to Jasper for reimbursement on the postage, but I always take the bank staff some goodies and didn't feel like baking last night.  I guess I'll go Friday, which means baking tomorrow.

I've been trying to being Angelica into the house for an hour each day, to help stave off boredom.  I can't take my eyes off her for a second, as she's a chewer, but I don't feel I can trust her on the tie-up for more than an hour or so.  (sigh)

LindaL, don't get discouraged if DH doesn't like the day care at first - he'll be fine after he makes some friends and it's a more familiar place.

Time sure is flying...it seems like you just got back from Hawaii, Jean.

Guess I'll take my doggies for a drive - don't know where, but I need to get out of the house while the weather is good.

Hi to everyone - have a blessed day!

Re: Shopaholics ODAT - Wednesday, October 7th

Good news ladies -- DH did very well at the center.  And, he said that there were some nice, helpful people there.

We will be going back on Friday afternoon for a Fall party -- just one hour, but it should be fun with singing, snacks, etc.  And, then we will be going on Monday morning for his TB test.  Other than that, he will be attending Wednesdays on his own.

They played bingo (he doesn't know how to play, but the activities director helped), and he won a box of candy (Milk Duds).  And, they exercised, sang had little kids come in (they played balloon volleyball and he watched).  He thought the little kids (they have a kids daycare there) were cute.  All-in- all much better than I even hoped.  He was having a snack when I arrived, so I sat at the table while he finished.  He didn't seem in any hurry to leave, which was great.

Thanks for all your good wishes and prayers.  I'm so very happy that this seems to be a good fit for him (and me.)

Re: Shopaholics ODAT - Wednesday, October 7th

LindaL - From the bottom of my heart, I am so happy to read that he did well today and that he met some nice people (sniffle, sniffle).

Nothing says welcome to the new club like having a party :-)  Even if it's just an hour, it's still something fun.

Again, I am thrilled that the first day set up a good impression on him.

Now you can enjoy some time for yourself without guilt or anxiety.  As a caregiver, it's crucial.
