Happy New Year shopping friends!
I am hoping that the purchase I just made in the last 15 minutes will prove to be a wise one I ordered the Aeropilates Reformer that is the Today's Special on HSN. I also ordered the neck pillow.
Weight loss is not my concern. Improved posture and increased flexibility is what I'm after. When I had frozen shoulder in my left shoulder in 2004, I was able to regain full range of motion. When I had frozen should in my right shoulder in 2014, I don't know, I never regained full range of motion.
I did the same exercises (at home both time) so I don't know what went sideways with that right shoulder.
Movement is life and I'm tired of feeling stiff and creaky

Wishing you the best with that amazing machine. I had one years ago. It is the BEST.
Happy New Year!!!

@pugvette74 I'm so happy to read that it's a good machine from someone who had one. I have a treadmill and I don't know - I think I go at it too hard and give myself shin splints, rofl. I also worry about being in the proper position when I exercise.
Happy New Year to you and yours.

@Bird mama I had an impingement shoulder... Not the shots or PT really worked well. I couldn't raise my right arm up to the top of my head to wash my hair. I used that machine and it gave me back my full range of movement. The specialist wanted to break my shoulder, 6 weeks in a sling, but I said just give me time with the Aeropilates, he agreed and all good. I moved across country and couldn't take it with me.
Post how you are doing when you use it for a month and don't forget to believe in you!

Happy New Year and thanks for getting us started, Bernie. Hope you like your new Pilates, and it helps you achieve your goals. I do not have that machine, but I ordered an earlier version from Q many years ago. I thought it was amazing how I really felt different after using the machine. Like you, I was not interested in weight loss, but wanted to improve my posture, etc. Despite really liking the machine, it did not make the cut when I moved to Arizona.
I did see the famous "ball drop" in NY City last night since it was only 10 p.m. here. Really felt sorry for all the people standing around in the chilly and rainy weather. I ended up staying up later than I wanted (past 11:00 p.m.) since I had been busy dancing and singing while waiting for the big event, and then I got interested in the book I was reading (lightweight mystery).
Since I was up late, I decided to sleep in later this morning, and forced myself to stay in bed until 6:30 or so. I'm in the process of taking down my Christmas decorations and cleaning. Really hope to reduce the number/clutter of decorations, but I'm not sure that I will be successful.
I did watch a little of the Rose Parade while I was taking down decorations since several people have told me that I should really go there at least once. It isn't inexpensive, and I have been told that taking a tour is best since it is difficult to find accommodations and a good place to stand on your own.
I have a tradition of making beans or lentils for New Year's dinner, so I have cooked the lentils and some brown rice which I will use to make a "lucky" dish.
Waves to all of our posters and readers, hope everyone has a nice day!
Hugs,
Linda

Bird Mama. I hope that you like the TS from HSN. It's worth a try. We joined the Wellness Center at our local senior citizen center & have our orientation on Friday. The recumbent bike is what I am interested in. I used to have one, but I don't want to buy another one. It took up too much space. My DH can try out lots of other things. I want to try to get my legs a bit stronger or stay like I am now. It's only $150 a year for both of us.
Pugvette74 welcome to the boards.
Linda L, we saw the ball drop at 11:00 p.m. our time. We slept in until 8:00 this morning and my DH is now napping in his recliner. I took down all of the Christmas things this morning. The snowmen are my favorite so they will be up until we get tired of the snow. Probably in March. I have no desire to go see the Rose Bowl parade. Crowds make me nervous & crazy. Your NY day dinner sounds interesting.
We had a good dinner out last night. I had the whole catfish and my DH had the smothered chicken and said that it was delicious. Then us ladies beat the guys at cards. After seeing the Ball drop, we ushered in the New Year in the hot tub with a Peach Wine Cooler. Then we slept like a baby.
We are waiting to watch the WI Badger's playing in the Rose Bowl game this afternoon. I am not a football fan, but I am a big Badger fan. Christopher had to work last night, but will be watching the because as well as his family.
Supper is beef stew in the oven.
Hugs to all of you.

I got an AeroPilates from the Q 15 years ago; I'm on my second one now. They're the only exercise equipment I've had that didn't end up as clothes hangers. I started for the same reason as you: I wanted to maintain my flexibility. And I like the idea that most of the exercises were done lying down! 😄
It does work, although I don't use the rebounder as much as I should. (Another resolution for this coming year.) I injured my back a couple of years ago and couldn't use the machine for a while at all. And I'm ashamed to admit that when I did get back to it, I haven't kept up as diligently as I had in the past. And I sure can tell the difference, too. Yet another resolution. My chiropractor gave me a list of stretching exercises for me and many of them are the same as what I do on the machine.
Have fun!

Bernie--I do hope you find the Pilates a wise purchase and that you get the results you want. I know you made the decision after careful thinking and experiences.
Linda--When one moves, decisions have to be made about what can't go. If you really enjoyed the Pilates, perhaps you might want to consider investing in one again.
Twinny--I do hope you and DH find the fitness center to be beneficial to you in the coming year. The positives are the variety of machines and the reality that a machine is not taking up space in the home.
Barbara--Glad that you had an enjoyable time with friends.
geezerette and Pugvette74--Thank you for your input on Bernie's decision. Welcome to the thread, and post whenever you can.

Linda @LindaLatte I know that I couldn't stand in the cold and wet weather to watch any ball drop in Times Square. I have the same question of many others - how and where would I go to the bathroom?
I went to bed before 10 pm and I awoke feeling remarkably refreshed to the point I wandered into the kitchen to put the tea kettle on. It was 1:45 am I said, no way and I went back to bed and concentrated on falling back to sleep.
