Same Fashion, Different Designer?

Is it just me or is QVC playing tricks on us.  The fashions are getting so "similar" but depending on the "designer" the cost fluctuates.  Thinking since all are coming from China, all that's different is the label being put on the garments.  Honesty? Ethics? Integrity? TRUTH IN ADVERTISING?

I don't know about QVC but I bought a dress for a wedding at Dillards Department store and saw the exact same dress and I mean exact in Macys with a different designer lable.

This complaint has been rather common in recent months.

I see similar styles at other retailers, but I also see more variety than at QVC.

The styles are similar, but the materials and fit can be different.  Need to check out the measurements, the material description, and know your "designer".  They can really vary.  It's been years since I purchase these, but an asymmetrical top from logo was very different from an asymmetrical top from Denim & Co.  My only across the board rule is no rayon/span.

It's the same with shoes.  I bought some shoes in JCP and saw the exact same shoes at Nordstrom's and a few places online under a different label ... and higher price.  Slight difference in colors and manmade* vs. leather.  Wide range of prices ... from $70 at JCP to over $200 at some other places.  Most were in the $150-$200 range.

One of my friends (now retired) spent almost her entire working life in the shoe industry ... we had a great chat about this the other day.

*  Manmade is definitely better for me for the "sidewalks of NY."  Easier to keep clean.

It has always been that way, most designers lean on the trendy side with a few doing some of their own thing also.  Nothing new.  Every designer made poodle skirts in the 50's as a good example.

I definitely notice similar styles across different brands whether it be the Q or other retailers.

Trends drive the industry and are used to get us to buy new items. I am old enough to have seen trends come, go, and come back again. Let’s face it, there are only so many shapes, designs, & styles in the fashion industry. It is very rare to see something totally new, and most of those designs are for the runway only and not for real life. I just sort through all the choices to find what I like and want to wear.
