I was at an event on Friday with lots of people. Just about all the young women were wearing what looked like wildly flowered sacks for dresses. They were mostly midi length and drapey, and truly unflattering. I just thought "Why do they want to make themselves look so dumpy?" I don't get it. Some wore ankle boots with them. Yikes.......

I must be getting old, but I still think a woman's body deserves better.

I just assume people like what they wear or why else would they wear it?

None of my business how others choose to dress.

I'm seeing lots more dresses out there than I have in previous years. I do think dresses are more comfortable, at least for me. I prefer shirt dresses or maxi dresses.

Its a growing trend,( among teens & 20's) looks cute and comfy to me.  This is a repeat of the same style back in the early 90's.

i find it truly unflattering to criticize what people are wearing.

One of the reasons for having this board is to transmit both positive and negative viewpoints on fashion.  Negative opinions are not reflective of the people, just their taste. Keep it light and fun.

I much prefer this than some other things.

@BriggsiePeawiggle They sound comfortable. Fashions come & go, but I am rarely fashionable. I do try to be comfortable. Sounds like they did both.

I hope you had fun at the event!

@BriggsiePeawiggle

My niece and her friends dress that way.  They are all in their early 20's - live a suburban life.  That's their "look."

She was the maid of honor for one of her friends - fancy dresses and cowboy boots!

Reminds me of the tent dresses I wore in the 1970s...but most of mine were mini tent dresses. We looked adorable in them because we were young...I do like the ones being shown today, but I would look like an old lady in a smock.

I think the younger women look great in them, but it also depends on what they are pairing it up with.
