SUGGESTION FOR ROBE FOR POSTER REQUEST

[ Edited ]

A poster inquired about finding a robe which seems to be non-existent. I shared that several years ago, I had purchased an open front, lighter weight, long cardigan (size up for extra coverage across the chest). I find this comfortable over nighties, pjs around the house. Isaac had a good one yesterday (cotton/rayon) for $43.72 & 4 e/p. Many colors to choose from. Item # A 343205.

@Shanus I think that would be good when it's only DH & I here but I couldn't use that as a robe when we have guests.

@151949  My tailor added a “frog closure” at a strategic place between chest/waist (sized up to overlap, wrap). This keeps it closed when necessary. Just a suggestion.

@Shanus

Have you washed one made with this content? (60 cotton/40 rayon)?

Liking the idea of doing this as a robe, but hesitant due to the washing/pilling factor and would like to know how to prevent pilling. TIA

@LTT1  Was just on Isaac show yesterday. Didn’t & haven’t purchased one in this fabric. My “house cardigan” is a cotton blend...copy of Barefoot Dreams. I never put things I think will pill in the dryer...I wash on hand wash cycle and lay flat or put on hanger to dry. Since mine is med. heather grey, it doesn’t need laundering that often.

If you order one from Q, wash before wearing so within 30 day return period. You can always return it & call CS for free return if doesn’t wash well. I did this last week w/ 2 D&Co French terry long sleeve tees. Washed them before wearing and shrunk about one size. Back they went at no charge.

That Isaac long cardigan is nice but it would not work for me as a house robe. I need something that will cover, and not open, from above my cleavage to my knees. Otherwise I feel naked, especially if there's companyWoman Embarassed.

@SilleeMee  Just told another poster I had tailor add a closure (a frog type) at chest. I guess you could add 2 or 3. Robes seem to be scarce....especially attractive ones. I’m not big on pastels or flowers. If I have one, that’s my choices.

@LTT1  Agitation, rubbing and heat cause pilling, even in the finest of fabrics so if it contains fibers that tend to pill, washing on hand cycle and/or by hand and hanging or laying flat to dry would be key to prevent pilling but washing it only occasionally would not do for me.  I put my robe on after I shower and I use it only 1-2 times before it is washed.  I wear my robe after my shower until I choose to go to bed or until I get dressed to go out.  So, I get lots of wear out of one time.

I have to admit that I am such a homebody and I live in my robes all day long. Unless I'm expecting company then they stay on until I go to bed or until I have to leave the house. You don't even want to know how many robes I own...lol!Woman Very Happy
