SHOPOHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (SUNDAY, November 29th)

Good Afternoon!  It is a lovely sunny afternoon here with a high in the low 70's predicted.  It was only 30 degrees when I got up, so I decided to wait to take my walk -- that was a good idea.  I found out that my church services are posted on the internet earlier than I realized, which made things easy.

I plan to do one of my Leslie Sanson's DVD's later today.  Also plan to do a little ironing, cooking, and cleaning.

My SIL e-mailed me that she tested positive for the virus.  She works in an independent living/assisted living facility, and all the residents and staff members tested positive, so it is pretty certain that is where she picked up the virus.  I know she wears a mask and maybe a face shield, is tested often, etc., but.....    So far, her only symptom is tiredness.  Her facility is paying her salary while she is in quarantine for the next 10 days.  Hopefully, no other symptoms will arise.

I'm getting all sorts of requests for contributions via mail and e-mail, and I plan to give to some.  Just not all who ask.  As my friend Bev said, you no sooner contribute that they send you another request.

I don't plan to do any more clothing and shoe shopping, but I have to admit to have receiving some tempting offers.  By the way, I'm wearing my new Hane's sweatshirt today, and it is very nice.  Thanks for the tip, Jean.

Waves to all of our posters and readers.  Hope everyone has a nice Sunday and stays safe.  Please post if you have a chance.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPOHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (SUNDAY, November 29th)

Linda--Thank you for starting the thread. I am so sorry that your SIL tested positive for the virus. It is so unpredictable in how it affects people so I hope all goes well with her. I completely understand the frustrations over giving to a  charity, organization, etc. It seems that once you contribute to a cause you like, multiple contacts from other groups come in. We can't giv to all, so we just have to decide what is best. I'm glad your Hanes sweats work for you.

I have the car loaded as I had intended to go to the city today but that is now scheduled for tomorrow. Instead, I worked on the garage and now can get the car back in. It is so easy to use the garage for sorting, organizing, etc. when the weather is good but not so good when the threat of snow arrives. We are exxpecting measurable snow by Tuesday. I do hope that doesn't materialize and if it does, is in an amount that quickly disappears. Whatever, the car has its home back!

I liked the air fryer demonstration I saw this morning but it is something I can postpone until later. I've done without it and life has not been bad without one. I read that Eric who usually presents that brand has Covid. I do hope he has an easy recovery.

Re: SHOPOHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (SUNDAY, November 29th)

Hi Linda and Jean and all who follow, I agree about the all of the appeals that are coming through the mail.  I often wonder which charitable organization sold my contact information when I get appeals from places that I've never donated to.

There is so much need it can be overwhelming.  I have some organizations that will send me a letter of thanks with one hand and the appeal for more with the other - all in the same envelope.  The cynical part of me says - wow guess they think they got a live one Woman Frustrated

I try to think globally and act locally.  This means I'll give to local audubon societies, the local nature conservancy, etc.  I understand the big picture however I fund state wildlife and birds.

Because there is so much food insecurity in my own community, places like National Wildlife Federation and Environmental Defense Fund are further down on the list - yea I want to protect national wildlife and yea the Earth and Environment need a lawyer (lol) but folks around me gotta eat and I worry about the little ones dealing with food insecurity.
