On Wednesday we had a tornado that touched touch in the area between where me and my sister live. I had the TV on and heard a beep beep and the national weather service announcement as the warning scrolled across the TV screen.
I haven't tried to run since I broke my heel a year ago on Memorial Day. Let me just say this - I found out that I can run. The announcement said it was nearing Royal Oak (it's a city) and I knew the storms were travelling NE so I shot out of the chair, ran down the stairs, grabbed things on the first floor and took them into the basement. I called my sister who works remote and said take shelter a tornado has been spotted and it's coming for Royal Oak - gotta go.
I ran up 2 flights of stairs, grabbed the birds (Finley and Grayson) and we sheltered in the basement for about 15 minutes. I was not impacted and neither was my sister - it was like it threaded between us and ripped up some folks roofs and damaged patio furniture.
If there is one thing that I don't play with it's tornado and severe thunderstorms. If someone recommends that I should take shelter, I take shelter.

Regarding the new roof - the owner swears it's fine and water right. I reached out to GAF and got a copy of my warranty and I will get used to what the family room roof looks like.
This is what happens when you have a company that roofs 2 houses per day. They started my roof at 4:15 pm and were cleaning up at 8 pm. When you bring a crew of 10 people to roof a house you are going to have experienced roofers and newbies. The way my house is designed there are 3 roofs and I can tell just by looking at them which one was roofed by an experienced person.
This company roofed my sister's house in 2017 and they didn't work like this then. Live and learn.

Sure glad you didn't have problems with the tornado, Bernie. Just heard from Barbara -- she said the tornado hit about an hour south of her, so she is okay.
