SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME. (Wednesday, June 11th)

[ Edited ]

Good Morning/Afternoon!  Not to be a broken record, but it is another hot/dry day here in Arizona.  And, even hotter weather is expected for the weekend.  Thank goodness my AC is working in the house and car.

Perhaps due to the weather and the reduced number of people here in the summer, there were not many people at the senior lunch program yesterday (less than 20).  They are still working out how things will be handled under the new arrangement.  Fingers crossed all works okay.

I called my provider this morning since I had not heard from the other doctor about my Prolia (bone density) medication.  Very happy that I was able to get an appointment -- not until mid-July, but.... The doctor is only in this area every other Friday afternoon so scheduling can be difficult.

This afternoon I will be going to the podiatrist, and I hope he can help me with my toe/toenail/feet issues.

Thanks for the information about the hose, Bernie.  I had ordered one from A, which I hope will work out okay.

Waves to Bernie, Fressa, Susan, Barbara, Glenda, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone has a nice evening.  Please post if you have a chance.

Hugs,

Linda

ETA --  I missed a message from Fressa this morning --

Birdmama---That's a shame how there is no regard for the wildlife. I swear none of them have any common sense.  Around here....they "expanded" the building of town homes into the park area which disturbed the wildlife that have no place to go. It must not be the only "park" area that has been "revised" judging by the wildlife posts from the townships further away.  Everytime they post a" wildlife watch post "it makes me question what's up. I didn't think that coyotes and bear moved around that much once they had established an area they could find shelter and food. I have more questions and concerns than answers. I didn't expect this in the suburbs.

They did the artificial turf  in the next township to us. They demolished the school and playyard and put in a huge m;ulti court area.  I think there are plans for a larger school in the next few years. They claimed it was more expensive to add on to the existing school than build a new one. I'm not buying that one but at least I don't have to pay tax on that one.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME. (Wednesday, June 11th)

Sorry about the flare, Barbara.  Hope you are feeling better today, and it is not as hazy.

On the wildlife theme -- there is continued development in this area as well.  And, these new residences are cutting into areas where wildlife -- particularly rattlesnakes, gila monsters, coyotes, etc. have lived.  This can lead to some pretty bad contacts.  The very local paper reported that an older man was walking in his neighborhood after dark, and was bitten by a rattlesnake twice.  He was fortunate to be able to get to the hospital and is recovering, but they cautioned against walking after dark without watching for snakes and other creatures.

So far, my volunteer job is going okay, Barbara.  Hope that it will be the case this afternoon.  There is a lot to learn and remember.

I had a good visit with the podiatrist.  He asked lots of questions, cut my toenails, dealt with a blister, etc.  He said that I have "hammer toes" which is pretty normal when you get older -- go figure.  I explained about my toes hurting and toenails bending back, bleeding, etc. after my walks despite feeling fine when I put them on.  He said that it is normal for feet to swell during long walks like I take, and that I should try the next size up for my "walking/exercise shoes" and lace them differently to avoid slippage in the heels.  I am busy today, but plan to go to the sports store and try on some shoes tomorrow afternoon.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME. (Wednesday, June 11th)

Good Evening!  Very hot and dry here today, and even hotter weather is predicted for tomorrow, Sunday, and Monday.

The Sheriff's Auxiliary was pretty quiet yesterday, but I handled a couple of phone calls and greeted people coming in for fingerprinting.  They gave me a polo shirt that they had ordered for the new recruits, and it was way, way, too long.  I took it to the alteration shop today, and was pleased that they are only charging $10.  It should be ready on Monday.

Before going to the alteration shop, I visited my former hospice patient who was not feeling well, but was able to visit.  Another visitor (I think a friend of her niece) came by toward the end of the visit.  She told me that she had known her for years and tried to visit at least twice a week.  I was surprised we had not met before.

I picked up some groceries (specials that were not available on Wednesday), and stopped by the sports store where I purchased a new pair of walking/exercise shoes.  I am trying them out at home -- hope they work out.

Late in the day, I went swimming -- first time in ages.  It really felt good.

In wildlife news -- a mourning dove has built a nest on a beam over the front patio.  This is a popular nesting place.  Hopefully, the nest will not fall down like several have done in the past.

Waves to Barbara, Bernie, Fressa, Susan, Glenda, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone sleeps/slept well.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME. (Wednesday, June 11th)

Hi Everyone!

It's been a weather mix between cloudy days and very sunny. We have quite a bit of rain in the forecast wich will be good for the gardens. I'm hoping that we have a few cooler and dry days so I can weed and install a few fence panels.

I did get a pick up appointment schedules for the 30th donations. I was surprised they were booked so heavy. That's a good thing.

My meat thermometer stopped working in the middle of last nights dinner. UGH!!! I searched on line today and think I've found one that I'll order. I just want something more of tne easy and basic style .

LindaLatte--I'm glad you enjoyed your swim.  When my son was little we had an above ground pool. I still remember how refreshing that was to come home from work and get in that pool for 20 minutes  before I started dinner. Enjoy it.

Have a good afternoon/evening.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME. (Wednesday, June 11th)

Good Afternoon/Evening!  Hope you get some drier weather soon, Fressa. DD tells me that they have had lots of rain in SC.

I grew up with an above ground pool, and it was very nice during the summer months.  The great thing about the pools here is that I do not have to maintain them -- that was a major job for my Dad.  In fact, my Mom had the pool removed after he died because she just could not keep up with it.

The dove seems to be okay just sitting on the nest.  It was pretty hot on my walk this morning, but I made it okay.  I tried out the new shoes, and so far, so good.

It is so hot that laundry dries very quickly -- most within a few hours.  I tend to hang most of the laundry and only use the drier for sheets, towels, and other bulky, heavy things.

Sleep well everyone!

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME. (Wednesday, June 11th)

Good afternoon. It s quite the lovely day again...highs in the 70s. 🤗

on days like today, Fathers Day, I miss my dad and my sweet Vyrn so much. I had a wonderful, brilliant , talented and so willing to listen to my ramblings during my teen years. I was blessed.

The legislator who was murdered in Mn, represented our district. I met her a couple of times. How very sad, how our country is deteriorating.

i did wear my Resist tee yesterday. Several of my friends attended the NO KING rallies. If I were more mobile, I would have attended the one here.

i am going to visit my brothers in Greenwich for a week in August. It will be a fun time. My niece has a birthday on the 15th . I have some pieces of my mother's jewelry and I will choose one to gift to her.

Linda...it is very hot in Az...I do not miss that heat. Your podiatrist gave you some good ideas. Have you thought about different Sox?  When new homes were being built in the lots across the streets from us, we had unwanted visitors. My bug guy was able to keep the scorpions away, but I was wary of rattlesnake.

Fressa..I wonder what the summer temps will be here. Farmers plant lots of sugar beets. My friends who came from farms, have said the weather has been ideal. Do you live in an area that has had lots of storms ?how are your doggies doing ?

I see my rheumatologist in 2 weeks. We need to find a solution for my flares.

Greetings to all of our readers and posters.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME. (Wednesday, June 11th)

Good Afternoon!  I completely understand about Father's Day, Barbara. It has been many years since my Dad passed, but I still particularly miss him on this day.  Also think about my DH whose oldest DGD graduated from college yesterday.  He would have been so proud of her.

There are several people in my church from Minnesota, and after he did the scripture reading, one mentioned how yesterday was such a rough day for many, including him (he was weeping).  Just horrible.  I really hope that they catch the killer before he strikes again.

Your August trip sounds fun.

Definitely too hot here, but that is to be expected in southern AZ.  At least it is not humid.

I wear "planter fascitis relief socks" over my low cut socks when I take my morning walks.  They seem to help with heel pain.  But, I would like to find regular low cut socks that are not too thick and perhaps have a little padding for the rest of the time.  I will have to check out Amazon again.

Hope you can get some help with the flares.

Waves to Barbara, Fressa, Bernie, Susan, Glenda, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone has a nice evening.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME. (Wednesday, June 11th)

Hello all, the weather and the air quality have been pretty nice over the last couple of days.  Rain keeps skating by my part of Michigan so I've been watering this weekend.  My water bill will be high for the month and I'll deal with it then because I can't stand watching the robins run from morning to night looking for food.  Are they running after I water, yea, but I know they are getting something.  I think we might get rain Tuesday.  I wished my father, husband and brother in law a happy father's day in heaven as soon as I opened my eyes this morning.

With all of the chaos and disorder going on these days I find that I am relieved my loved ones are not here to see it unfold.

There are times when you must speak, not because you are going to change the opposing side, but because if you do not speak, they have changed you.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME. (Wednesday, June 11th)

Good Evening!  Glad your air quality has not been bad, Bernie.  It reached 111 here yesterday, and 108 today.  It should be cooler (still in the 100's) the next couple of days, and then very hot again Thursday and Friday. We could really use some rain.

I made it to the alteration shop this morning and picked up my new shirt for the Sheriffs Auxiliary. Then I visited my former hospice patient, but she was sound asleep the whole time I was there.  Hopefully, she will be awake next Monday.  I ran into the hospice chaplain, and we had a nice, if brief conversation.

Very quiet at the Sheriff's Auxiliary this afternoon, but I had a few calls and one visitor.  My regular badge had arrived, and I was pleased with the picture.

Hope everyone sleeps well.
