SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WEDNESDAY, APR 24)

Good morning, shopping friends. I was up bright and early at 5:30 to put out the trash, a real highlight of t he week. I've been having some internet issues so I hope I can get this post submitted.

Lazy cook that I am, I was very tempted by a microwave pasta cooker that was shown this morning and has good reviews. It is perfect for one or two people. I resisted and put it on my wish list. I really don't want to ruin this non-want buying streak. I've made it through one month but two months would be super great for me.

I've started posting a few of the Australia pics on Facebook. I'm just doing a sampler of each day as I know people don't want to see all and also some pics are taken from different angles perspectives, etc.

I'm getting motivated to start sorting and decluttering again. I think it is a result of starting to sleep well again, resulting in more energy.

I'm still playing telephone tag. I really wish these people would call back when expected or convenient for me.

Have a great day. If you shop, shop wisely.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WEDNESDAY, APR 24)

I've spent the morning cleaning the bathroom and then going through clothes. I really don't think I need to order or buy any more for a long time. My problem is that things "out of sight" rapidly become "out of mind," so I forget I have them if tucked away where I don't easily find things.

I remember a person posting that they used a spreadsheet to enter every item ordered, the item number and cost. This was used as a refresher whenever the urge to order hit and eliminated duplicates. I might have to do this but have a column noting where things are stored.

I use empty suitcases, as an example.  The bag I checked to Australia now has in it an under the seat bag, a personal item, and towels. This bag is kept in one of the closets so it is easy to grab towels when the trusty ones have outlived their usefulness.

I have a big box out to toss in things for donation but I'm going to have lunch and then read while waiting for the telephone calls I don't think are being returned.

It's funny you mention not wanting to ruin your no spending streak Jean @KonaKat .  I'm in the same boat Woman Very Happy

I don't know if I mentioned this last week (speaking of waiting for a call).

I went to see the endocrinologist on Monday 4-8, learned the bloodwork results from the patient portal the next day and the day after that I learned from the pharmacy that the dose hadn't change.

I received the new bottle of medication on 4-16 and two days later on 4-18, the doctor's office called to let me know the bloodwork results.

I wish I would have heard the phone ring that morning instead of catching the message on voicemail.  I would have said, 10 days later and I'm looking at the new fill of the RX and you call me now?

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WEDNESDAY, APR 24)

Good Morning/Afternoon and thanks for getting us started, Jean.  Glad you got so much decluttering done already today.  I am in the same boat as far as clothes go -- no need for a very long time.  But, that doesn't mean that I won't be tempted by something new and different.  Enjoyed seeing your Australia pictures on FB.  I like the idea of a few at a time.  Sometimes people post huge numbers of pictures, and I can get tired of looking at one after another.

Funny thing,in  the picture I posted on FB today -- me and my "grands" from eight years ago, I was wearing a dress that is still in my closet.  I have been considering whether it should go or stay, but I haven't decided.  It actually looked pretty nice in the picture, but I don't often wear it.

Good for both you and Bernie on your shopping restraint.  During my walk this morning I decided to return some pumps that I had ordered from Amazon (after my old ones "rotted".)  I wore the new version around the house for a few minutes, but they just were not comfortable.  Very glad Amazon would let me return them, and there was no charge since I have Prime.  Anyway, I decided that I just won't replace the pumps until there is some sort of reason to do so.  No rush for sure.

That is pretty wild about your doctor's office, Bernie.  I'm pretty dissatisfied with my primary care doctor's office since they are not good about getting back with results. And, they have been very bad with getting insurance permission for my Prolia injections.  Unfortunately, there is a shortage of doctors in this area, particularly doctors who take my insurance.

No big plans for the day -- going to UPS to return the shoes and perhaps a walk in the garden club garden.  It was cool when I started my walk (upper 40's), but is supposed to make it into the 80's today.  I took down my Easter decorations, but need to put them away.

Waves to all of our posters and readers.  Hope everyone has a nice day!

Hugs,

Linda

P.S. Not sure if I mentioned it, but my SIL did get her old job back and has found an apartment (basement apartment in a single family home) to rent.  We are hoping to get together when I'm in Maryland next month.

Bernie--We are playing the medical game and some doctors are better than others at updating you. It is odd about shopping but  the longer one goes without buying wants, the easier it gets. Here is to not acting on "wants."

I am off to read. Still waiting on the returned calls.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WEDNESDAY, APR 24)

Jean, waking up at 5:30 isn't fun especially when you can't go back to sleep.  The pasta cooker sounds like a good idea to me too.  We cleaned the house a little bit each day and even got the pix window washed.  Since its supposed to rain here and there this week, I am not going to wash anymore of them this week.

Bird Mama, I have been playing phone tag and running to Walgreen's since last Friday. to see if they have a better price for my Xarelto and Uloric.  3 months ago Walgreens had a much better $$ on one of them, but my Superscript rx plan is quite a bit better on both of the rx's for these 3 months.  Then it will be hunting all over again.

Linda L, when I walked at 8:30 this morning it was almost 60° & I took off my spring jacket which was only needed when I was on my moped.  It's nice and sunny & should be in the upper 60's with a chance for rain tomorrow and Saturday.  I am glad that your sil got her job back & the apt too.

Lunch was grilled cheese sandwiches and cooked tomatoes.  Supper is meatloaf and mashed potatoes.

Tomorrow after lunch we are leaving for the Capitol City to do a little bit of shopping before we go to our dgd's band concert.  Easter was fun with them.  Even though we have 3 teenage dgc,  they still like to hunt for Easter eggs and get an Easter basketbasket.

My DH had his stress test yesterday after lunch and we got back good results a few hours later.  Sometimes they are quick and sometimes I am anxiously awaiting for them. Next thing is an appointment with a neurosurgeon in June.

Hugs to all of you.

Linda--I am glad that your SIL got her job back. The outlook is getting brighter. I love that photo you posted on FB and you did look great in that outfit. As far as posting pics on FB, I tend not to look at 40 to 50 or more posted at a time. I prefer to post a few with an intro descriptioon of the picture theme of the few pics I post at a time. I just went and put labels on the individual pics I posted of Darling Harbour but not of the Aquarium. After some time, it is hard to remember what each was.

Twinny--I am glad that your DH got good results back from the stress test. Good job on getting some of the windows washed. That pasta cooker is the biggest temptation I have had lately. I do hope you find good prices on your drugs. As someone who takes Xarelto, I know how expensive it is.

Telephone tag is over. My appointments have been rescheduled successfully. I just turned on the Q to see an order of food at $67. Now, we have Cheryl's cookies. That is more tempting than the fish.
