SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WEDNESDAY, 2/4)

Good morning, shopping friends. It is a beautiful sunny day. I can tolerate Winter when there is little snow and it is SUNNY outside.

I waited to see if someone else would start the thread. I'm watching the Q right now but am in no mood to buy. Right now, I'm contributing to the economic coffers of the medical community. I have a new med added to my cardiac routine and will have to return on February 12 for another cardiac appointment. On the morning of the same day, I will be having a CAT scan of the kidneys, and on March 3, a scope of the bladder which is a procedure similar to a colonoscopy but involves the bladder. I'm not looking forward to drinking the junk.

On a positive note, the scales at the urologist yesterday agreed with the scales at the cardiologist which shows a 6 pound weight loss.

I do go to work in the afternoon which means I really have to leave at 11am. I am so enjoying relaxing here that I could easily relax the rest of the day.

I have the trunk of the car full of stuff for Good Will but didn't have time yesterday to drop it. The appointment ran long and I had to go to the hospital to pick up the wonderful stuff to drink for the CAT scan. I just wanted to get home. I didn't even eat out.

Right now, I'm not in the mood to shop; that day will come but right now there is nothing calling "buy me" right now.

Have a great day. If you shop, shop wisely

Good morning!

Kona congrats on the weight loss. I pray that your tests go well.

No shopping on my agenda. I would like to find some sweaters for next year on super clearance. Many of my tops and sweaters are too big.

Today is sunny and will be in the 50s', love it!

I have book club tonight, loved the book. The Invention of Wings

Rosa--Enjoy the book club tonight. Shopping can be enjoyable when you find what you need at a great savings. In my case, there is usually not much left in my size in those clearance sales.

I really need to get ready. I am so enjoying sitting here and relaxing. Sometimes, adult life and its responsibilities can be a pain.

Yes, I agree sometimes adult responsibilities are NO fun. Good luck with your medical procedures. Those concoctions are so yucky. Very good job on your weight loss.

I need to schedule some medical appointments also (routine).

No shopping on my radar---I have plenty of clothing items. I do need to make a grocery run. Need to make my list.

Jean, Hope work is ok today. I wish you the best on all of the tests. I've had plenty, but nothing to do with kidneys, so far.... I hope the required drink is more palatable than the colonoscopy one is. Ick...... Do some of your meds require these more involved tests to be sure things stay ok? I know some have to be very closely monitored. DH has the monthly blood work for one of his, but since he uses the VA, they won't cover the newer one that doesn't require testing. Your diligence with food really pays off, as you had a great loss.

Rosa, Have fun shopping for smaller clothes! I hope your book club continues to have good reads. I bought a book in town this morning called "Hope in a Jar". It looked like a light, fun read, and I hope I made a good call in choosing it.

Hi Linda R.! Hope all is well with you and the furkids.

There was yet another inch or so of snow this morning. It's made the back roads here more slick, as the cinders are now covered. I had no problems thankfully. There weren't too many folks around town, but I seem to run into the same few people in the grocery no matter when I'm there. We laughed as I said we have no need of a bar to get together as we always meet there. We can also drive freely afterwards! lol

I'm going upstairs to take a break, and hope my head will settle down. All the weather changes and storms are taking their toll on my sinuses, and kind of peaked today. The piles of snow will be here a very long time as they are just enormous. I hate to wish away time, but spring cannot come soon enough for me. Be back later. pinky

Good Morning/Afternoon! Thanks for getting us started Jean. Hope work goes well today. Sorry you need to go through more testing, drinking yucky stuff, etc. Hugs to you. Good news about the weight loss -- that is substantial -- congratulations.

Hi Rosa -- hope you find some nice clothes in your smaller size. Enjoy your bookclub, and your nice weather.

Good luck with your grocery shopping LindaR. The increasing prices are making grocery shopping less fun for me, but I do try to find the best deals. That can involve going to several stores, but it really burns me up to pay twice the price for one store versus another.

That is pretty funny about your grocery store friends pinky ann. Sorry about your sinus problems and the weather. Hope you feel better soon and the ice melts.

Waves to Kathleen, Arlene, twinny, Marijane, Susan, Karen, cert, and all of our posters and readers.

The "class" about Turkey was great yesterday, and work went fine. DH and I took our walk between the two activities, and it was plenty warm. It should reach the mid-70's again today. DH received some tax information from his broker yesterday that was very upsetting to me. While it was nice that his investment made a lot of money, the increase (which just goes back into the account), will result in a significant tax increase for us (since we file jointly). I was so concerned that I called the broker today, and now I feel a bit better since he has the money to pay for the extra taxes in his account. Nonetheless, I am not thrilled to expecting a tax refund to owing taxes. Oh well.....

It should be a quiet day here today -- I plan to go to Curves and take a walk. Hopefully, I will get some cleaning/organizing done as well.

Have a good day everyone!

Hugs,

Linda

Jean, Good luck with your appt. today. Your weight loss is great too. Another reason to buy new tops soon. I agree drinking that stuff sis YUCKY!.

Rosa, have fun at your book club tonight. I haven't heard of that book.

pinky ann, we got 3" of snow yesterday afternoon. Our city plows do a great job. I have had my share of nasty tests too. Next week I get lab work done & a liver function check. I get this done every 6 months. I have a new Dr. as my other 1 left our clinic for a different place. It seems that when I get a Dr. that I really like, they are soon gone elsewhere.

LL, We got nasty news last year when we went to pay our taxes. What we did with our IRA accounts cost us $1,000 & we lost money as we didn't buy anything & we lost some interest. Oh well, like they say, "live & learn."

We got 3" of snow yesterday but light & fluffy. Today it is cold but refreshing out. DH & I went to Shopko for the sr. citizen discount. I bought a cute thin short sleeved top for $2.71. It will be perfect for our upcoming vacation to Mexico & the heat of summer.

We had breakfast out which was nice. DH had an appt.at the hearing center. All is good & he goes back in another month. I am watching QF while eating a light lunch. Then it is hot tub time. maybe a nap too if I am lucky.

Tomorrow we take my mom for her lab work & Dr. visit. Then on to the tax lady. I just hope we break even this year.

Hugs to all of you.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (WEDNESDAY, 2/4)

Hi girls! Well, thanks to my friend, I'm back on-line; he repaired the loose connection in my laptop so it can charge again. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup1} It stopped working the evening before his birthday, when I already had his doberge cake started (which he didn't know about), and when I posted the fact that the laptop wasn't working on FB he offered to try and fix it. Well, that blasted cake took me almost seven hours to make (it's basically six different recipes that then have to be assembled), and spending so much time on my feet really exacerbated the sciatica (I couldn't walk for two days afterwards), but he was so thrilled to have the traditional New Orleans birthday cake that I was glad I did it; he's a sweet guy.

Susan, so sorry to hear about your furbaby; I know all too well how much it hurts when one dies; you're in my prayers. I do hope you get another dog - not as a replacement, but as another one to love. There's not a day I miss my Angel and Angelica by no means takes his place in my heart, but she does help ease the pain a bit. I"m so looking forward to see my many little sweethearts again.

I envy you both, Jean and Rosa - I'd love to lose some weight, but after being pretty much immobile for the last week, I think I've put some on. {#emotions_dlg.crying} Normally when I can't get on the internet I get a lot of cleaning done, but it was out of the question given the pain I was in. Today for the first time in weeks I can walk without a limp, but need to take things slow. In any case, I need to get caught up on homework before I do anything else.

Sorry to hear about the taxes, LindaL. Funny, but we think about the poor, oppressed serfs of olden times, but all they had to give their land lords was 15%. It's really gotten out of hand; they'd take it ALL if they could as they think they're entitled to it. {#emotions_dlg.mad} Take out the space between THE IRS... Wink

Hope you're feeling better, pinky ann - sinus headaches are the worse!

Well, it's a nice day out - sunny and not too cold. I need to get moving here - I'm meeting a friend for dinner at a new restaurant that opened just before Christmas: Old Chicago. Hopefully it'll be good. I already moved the car so the dogs can't hop in it when I leave....they all love to ride.

Have a blessed day, everyone!
