SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME, Thursday, April 16th

Good Evening or Morning!  I am sorry to be so late in posting, but I've been pretty busy.  Hope your weather continues to be nice, Fressa.   I know some were complaining that it was too hot where they live.  It has been cooler here -- slightly below normal. But, normal is probably in the 80's.   Hope you were able to complete some of the outdoor projects you would like to now that the weather is cooperating.

Jean said their weather is nice, but she is not able to go outdoors to enjoy it.  She did not mention anything about her recovery progress.

I received an email about my river cruise and ended up calling them for more details about payment, etc.  Really hope that all goes well, and I enjoy the trip.

I finished watching the OLLI class on AI, and found it fascinating.  Not something that I expected to be of interest, and actually some amazing uses.

My dental appointment yesterday went fine, and today I contacted the audiology center that I have been thinking about (for hearing aids.)  It is quite a complicated process, but I may try to get pre-clearance from my insurance company to pay part of the hearing aids.  If not, I can always stick with the OTC variety.

I don't usually suffer this badly from allergies, but the pollen is crazy this year.  DD suggested a nasal spray that I will try.  Meanwhile, I bought gasoline today -- the price had come down, but was still pretty high $4.15 a gallon.  I feel sorry for people who need to drive long distances, particularly those who drive diesel trucks, etc.

The grocery prices were higher, particularly for produce, and several things -- like tomatoes, broccoli, etc. looked pretty bad.

I read on a different thread that QVC filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.  I certainly hope they are able to stay in business.

Waves to Fressa, Bernie, Susan, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone sleeps/slept well and has a good Friday.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME, Thursday, April 16th

Good Afternoon/Evening!  Our weather is nice -- cool in the mornings and warmed up quickly.  But, there is a wind advisory tomorrow afternoon.

It was pretty busy at the Sheriff's Auxiliary yesterday, which I enjoyed.  But, I took a walk in the afternoon after work, and it was too hot for comfort.

Hope the weather is okay where you live.

Today, the very informal caregivers group met for lunch.  We are down to five now since our oldest member (in her mid 90's I think) is really slowing down and sleeping a lot according to her daughter.  This daughter (I think she has three or four) and son-in-law bought her house a few years ago and are her caregivers.

Anyway, not much news, except one of our members has been diagnosed with angina and will need to have some testing or a procedure done.  She just finished elaborate treatment for a major seizure disorder -- pretty discouraging.

I like free shipping, but have not found anything that I want or need so far.  Hope any of you who order or purchase here or elsewhere are happy with what you find.

Have a nice evening and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Hi, sorry that I haven't posted much lately.  It's been a hectic week full of challenges however I'm in a pretty good place regarding my grief.

Yesterday was my sister's birthday and I met up with a few of her coworkers for dinner.

Belated Happy Heavenly Birthday to Mary.  I am glad you are doing pretty well with your grief and were able to go to dinner with her coworkers, Bernie.  Hope next week will be a little less hectic with fewer challenges.

Thanks for posting.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME, Thursday, April 16th

Hi Everyone!

Our weather is back to chilly. The forecast has it listed for the next two weeks with the cool temps and a few days of hot in the middle. I sure hope that the flowers don't get confused. We had cold and rain last night. The sun is out today Fingers crossed that it's enough to charge the solar lights.

I didn't see too much on the Q for free shipping or sale prices. My budget thanks me. The garden fence needs replacing and I cant put it off any longer. I'm moving ahead with that expense instead of the windows. I'm trying to get another year before I tackle that issue.(again)

I did a quick stop at the grocery store for pickles and chips, etc. I was surprised that the Vlasic pickles were $7.50 for the medium jar and the medium chip bag was 5.xx. The dairy  and cracker prices were good .

LindaLatte---Glad to hear your medical appointments are going well. It's such a good feeling when you can check something off the "to do" list.  Allergy season is the worse. I hope the nasal spray works for you. Thanks for the update on Jean.

Birdmama---I'm sending you good thoughts for the weeks ahead. I hope they are peaceful.

Have a good afternoon/evening.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME, Thursday, April 16th

Good Evening!  Hope your plants make it okay despite the cold/warm/cold weather, Fressa.  We are back to pretty hot weather here (high of 88 degrees), but very nice for my morning walk.  Sorry about the fence -- it always seems like something in the house/yard needs repair or replacement.

My neighbor had a piano concert in her home this morning -- nice.  I worked at the Sheriff's Auxiliary in the afternoon, and it was quiet for the first hour and then perked up after then.

I was very happy to receive my new passport today -- the picture is gross, but at least I don't need to worry about the renewal.

My husband's friend called yesterday, and he and his "roommate"/friend are planning to go on an Alaskan cruise later this month.  That is assuming that his friend's sister is doing okay -- she had been in the hospital a few days, and they had not diagnosed her problem yet.

I have been reading the threads and some news reports of the Q's Chapter 11 filling.  Certainly hope they can stay in business.

Hope everyone sleeps well.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME, Thursday, April 16th

Good Evening!  I continued to have allergy issues, so I asked DD for ideas on how to handle them -- particularly my eyes.  She suggested a couple of products that I purchased today (OTC eye drops and oral medication).

It was nice this morning on my walk, and made it up to the mid-80's this afternoon.  I went to the grocery stores and WalMart -- not many bargains to be found, but I was able to find most of what I needed.

One of my friends/neighbors has been in an improv comedy group for three years, and this afternoon was their final performance before disbanding.  I took a break before the third store to attend, and it was very nice.  She received special recognition by the leader for being the first one to sign up for the classes.  And, her DH was there (taking donations), and greeted me warmly.

I found out that DH's friend passed away 10 days ago -- via Facebook.  I kept waiting to hear something, but.... Anyway, his DD said they are doing okay.

There is a younger lady (probably around her low to mid 60's) who I often see in the gym.  She is very dedicated to exercise, and can do much more than me.  Anyway, I knew she was still working, but found out that she works from 5 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. every weekday (gets up at 3 a.m.), changes and comes to the gym.  In addition, she works 6 hours on the weekend.  I can't imagine that sort of schedule, even if I were that much younger.  Amazing!

Hope everyone has a nice evening and sleeps well.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME, Thursday, April 16th

Good Evening!  I had a quiet day, and accomplished some cleaning, decluttering, etc., plus went to the gym.  I am trying to push myself a little (trying some new exercises) to help with my gait/balance issues.  Wish me luck.

Bernie posted quite a bit on the other thread.  I am including part of what she said below, but urge you to look at her other thread for more details.

I've been traumatized and stressed to the maximum since my sister passed away.  I've never had to settle an estate let alone navigate the probate process.  I get stressed when I am in unfamiliar territory probably because I have a strain of control freak in me.  The process has been bumpy due to relative involvement (can't say more) and I've been burning it at both ends. Last time I weighed myself I lost 18 lbs.

... I was operating on 3 1/2 hours of sleep last Thursday night when I stepped over a 3 foot baby gate to leave one room and enter the hallway upstairs.  ......The toe of my left ... slide caught the top of the baby gate and I fell.

... as I was falling in the hallway and slamming my right side against the bedroom doorway woodwork I cried out ooooh nooooo please.  My life didn't flash before my eyes but the future lives of the animals in my care did.

It's funny how quickly your mind processes events as they happen.  I  know that I was on the floor in a matter of seconds however I saw myself unconscious or seriously injured and the animals in my care in jeopardy as a result.  I breathed in and out slowly to make sure I didn't collapse my right lung ...

When I went to bed a couple of hours later I said to myself - that was your wake up call.  Answer the phone and do better.  You are responsible for 4 living things and you are all that they have.  None of this is worth jeopardizing their future.

I felt pretty good on Friday and then ... the soreness settled in.  I pretty much bruised and strained the muscles (front, side and back) over my right rib cage.  It's amazing how many of these muscles flex when you move throughout your day.  OTC Motrin IB 3 times a day spaced 5 hours apart is working wonders.  I make sure that I have something on my stomach when I take Motrin so I've been eating more regularly.

......

I'm sleeping better and putting myself and my menagerie first.  I have a legal team to handle the rest of the B.S.

------------------

Certainly hope you are better soon, Bernie.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME, Thursday, April 16th

LindaLatte---Thanks for the post about Bernie. I'll check the other thread.

It sounds like you are making progress with your new exercises. The art of "pacing yourself" always escapes me so I have my fingers crossed that you are better than I am with that item. We're in a span of bad  breathing days so my to do list doesn't have much checked off. The flowers and veggies plants that I ordered have started to arrive. I have my fingers crossed that the gardens will be completed by tis weekend.

I did manage to declutter and organize a stack of Pieria storage cubes in the spare room. I tackled that instead of the dresser drawers. LOL

I did order the TSV sheets yesterday because I've been searching for a new set. I just noticed on the last few laundry days that the sheets were showing their age. I can't remember the last time I purchased them. Hopefully, these will work. I remember this brand from years ago but .....

Our weather is some of everything. UGH!!! It's hot during the day and cold at night, mixed clouds, storms. The last few days I was switching from A/C to heat and back again. Today....I decided that I was done with that and just set it to A/C. Crossing my fingers that helps with my migraines and running the fans for the dogs on both floors.

They are forecasting that we will have a brief spring/summer and move into the fall quickly. It still is not as severe as other states so that's always good.

Have a good afternoon/evening.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME, Thursday, April 16th

@Fressa   the sheet set was nice and I probably would have tried a set if I hadn't just bought 2 sheet sets from JCP last month.  What color/pattern did you select?
