Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, JULY 21)

I'm having a heck of a time with Photobucket - time to switch to someone else!  Anyway, if you're having a problem with that link (it keeps switching back to private from public), check out this one (and please let me know which one works for you):

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, JULY 21)

After lunch, Midnight and I did some readig on the Kindle, as he curled up beside me. I'm having problems with the site today, so I will keep this short.

I have yet to order that D&Co jacket as much as I like it. I keep telling myself that if I had not seen it and on clearance, I would not have thught about buying another jacket. I still have the jackets from last year and the year before from a variety of lines and they are in good shape. The washable suede jacket I had, however, became too big after 3 years of use. This would have been a good replacement. Still thinking!

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, JULY 21)

Hi everyone - from a previous thread, can you tell me where OOB is?  I've never been to New England if it's in that part of the country so I don't know.  Snicks - hope your cold gets better soon.  Are you doing anything special to lose weight?  LindaL - glad you like your personal trainer, I admire your discipline concerning your health.  Jean - I love ham and au gratin potatoes - that's comfort food to me.  LindaR - sorry about the potentially expensive leak that needs to be fixed.  Arlene - glad your like your new smaller pool.  Enjoy!

I am having a grumpy yucky day today.  First I saw a suspicious debit from our checking account.  I called and it was an online order from Hot Topics (the teen clothing store in malls) and the order was mailed to South Carolina.  Obviously someone got my debit card number.  GRRRR!!!!!  I spent over an hour on the phone with the bank.  Thankfully they had declined additional, more expensive debits from South Carolina to places like Best Buy.  For now my card is cancelled and I have to wait for a new one. Later I picked up plenty of cash from the bank  to tide me over.

Then I had a check up and cleaning at the dentist.  I was informed after I arrived there that my elderly dentist had retired and his son is taking over his patients.  I'm fine with that, in fact, I'm surprised my dentist didn't retire sooner, but they could have informed me ahead of time.  I've had a bit of a sore tooth which I told them about and found out that I'll need to have a crown replaced.  I'll found out when, after it gets approved by our insurance.  It'll still cost us money, but the insurance will pay for maybe half.  Yuckers to having dental work done.

My DC are in Heidelberg today.  They were looking forward to seeing the old "student jail" at the university there.  Hundreds of years ago, students who were late to class or didn't do their work, could be thrown in jail for a while.  My DC think that's the funniest thing.  My DD continues to complain about her brother.  Hope her patience will hold out.

I'm going to take it easy the rest of the day.  I'm planning on eating leftovers for now, and I'm going to heat up some Bear Creek soup mix for dinner.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, JULY 21)

hello Ladies, another hot day here and it' been cloudy off and on...tomorrow more sun they are saying.
Charlene...Old Orchard Beach ,OOB, is the Maine....we used to live up in Maine in a small town beach town.....Cape Elizabeth. Twinny has been going there for the past few years and wanted to know why so many Canadian tourists..... I think this is probably the closest beach to go to if you live in Quebec....about a 10 hr drive or so. It has a big boardwalk with rides etc....we used to take the kids a few times during the summer when we lived up there.

Arlene I got both your links to work...what a nice tribute.

LindaR sorry about your plumbing work.....I hope it is not too expensive....usually the labor costs more than a part!

LindaL I hope those socks solve the problem for your DH....I had never heard of them either.
Snicks Hoping you feel better...knock on wood, Imhaven't had a cold either summer ,winter for a few years.
I checked out the jacket Jean....it's nice looking. what have you decided to do?

Not much going on here......I did order a top on sale and reduced again from JJill...also some long necklaces....for about $9.00 each. ( necklaces) I like their jewelry..usually only buy when they are on sale.
Twinny hope you had a nice time with your friend today in the hot tub. Marijane

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, JULY 21)

Charlene--It is good that you caught the unauthorized charges early. This is a reason I like to check my accounts daily. It doesn't take long and really saves a lot of time and misery trying to get things straightened out.

Arlene--The Memorial is very nice; great pictures. We can never let our guard down at any time in this country.

Marijane--I haven't decided on the jacket. I really should get one which means I would go for a basic color that would go with everything....good old black. I'm tired of basic  colors, however. Time will tell what I will do but I'm leaning toward not getting it if it is black.

I hope Kathleen is doing well with her job search. I saw that she and her DH were out enjoying a meal and the time they have together.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, JULY 21)

My plumbing issue turned out to be more complicated. I did see the water when they turned the water on. The had to cut a hole in the drywall to access the plumbing. It wasn't cheap but I was pleased with the cost. Two fellas earned their pay. They showed me the culprit pipe that hget a ad developed the hole. Fortunately I had found it early. I had gotten up and the floor was dry. About two hours later the floor was wet. I turned the toilet off and still water. So I asked my neighbor to turn the water off at the meter until I could get a plumber

Fortunately this did not happen when I was out of town. I know Twinny had that experience.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, JULY 21)

I'm glad you discovered the leak rather quickly, LindaR, and that it is repaired.  When I had the huge leak (pipe from the meter), the plumber was concerned that water might be coming up through the floor as well.  The only way to be sure would have been to hire specialists in leak detection (not cheap), and if that was an issue, rip up the floors.  I had visions of having an uninhabitable house for a while.  Anyway, once the plumber changed the toilets, he said that there didn't appear to be any leaks, and the water bills went back to normal.  I will need to have the dry wall opened up at some point (there is a problem with the bathtub faucet, and no other way to fix it.)  But, hopefully that is a long way off.  House repairs go away.

I'm sure the guys earned their pay, and I'm relieved for you.

DH's sock problem has to do with not being able to get the socks on Bernie, not them falling down or being torn off.  I haven't had shoes that ate my socks like that, but I have had a lot of trouble with socks falling down.  I need to pay careful attention to the fiber content since that seems to make a difference.

Sounds like you had a nice lunch and leftovers, Jean.  I haven't made au gratin potatoes in ages.  Maybe I'll do so.   That jacket looked nice and was a good price.  But, like Arlene, I don't have much use for jackets.  It would end up with the rest of my jackets cooling their heels in the coat closet most of the time.  You will have to let us know if you ordered it or not.

As for our temperatures -- June is our hottest month.  That still surprises me, and it isn't like the temperatures for July or August are exactly how, but June wins the prize -- usually our hottest and driest month.  With July, our "monsoon" rains come, which help to cool it down a bit.  The other funny thing is that Tucson (south of Phoenix), is cooler than Phoenix and our area is south of Tucson, and usually cooler than Tucson.  I always think that it will be hotter in the south, but not true here.  All that being said, I think it made it to 100 here today, and the AC is still working.

Sorry you aren't feeling well snicks.  Summer cold -- yuck!

Hope you enjoyed the hot tub time with your friend, twinny.

Thanks for sharing those photos, Arlene.  Wonderful tributes, but I'm still so very sad about these killings.

Glad you caught those fraudulent charges, Charlene, but what a hassle.  Sorry you will need the dental work -- no fun.

Hope you like your new top and jewelry, Marijane.

Hi Kathleen -- glad you enjoyed time with your DH.  How is the job search going?

Guess it is time for me to make dinner now (I needed a break after my workout or it would already be cooking.  LOL)

Sleep well everyone!

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, JULY 21)

Thank you for asking Linda!  I got a job offer this week and I went ahead and accepted it, though I have been a bit bummed and anxious about it all.  I think I was not quite ready to jump back into work - did not expect an offer so soon, and really would have liked to have a few more days off. Also a bit anxious about getting back into a job that might not be a good fit, and this one does not have benefits.  That wouldn't have been an issue 2 weeks ago, but today it is something to consider.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, JULY 21)

I sort of suspected something was up, Kathleen when you said you only had a few more days of freedom/relaxation (not sure that was the exact wording) with your DH.

I don't blame you for feeling a bit anxious after your last job experience, and the lack of benefits.  But, you can only do the best you can do.

I'll be praying for you and your DH.
