Hi Everyone!
It's cloudy and raining today and cool temps. It's like a swamp in the patio yard for the dogs. UGH!!! We have snow in the forecast for the end of the week so I'm hoping that there's some dry time in between to prevent icing.
I'm trying to get my desk organized for tax season but I'm still sorting thru the Christmas receipts. These stacks of papers on my desk drives me nuts. LOL I still have to decide on a final revised budget. I think all the bills are in with the new charges.
We finally viewed the camera cards from the sports cameras for the last two months. Lots of deer and the cat that hunts at night. Nothing dangerous in our yards. Good to see.
I did some laundry in the mornings the last two days because there was just too much with the two baskets of towels from the dogs. LOL I did watch some of the Q in the mornings in between switching loads. I'm on a almost zero purchase mind set for this new year. Fingers crossed that I stick to that with the exception of birthday presents.
Hope all is well with everyone.

Hi @Fressa my comment is related to something you posted yesterday. My sister is on vacation this week so I suggested we hit the Target and Walmart nearest her yesterday. I also wanted to finally meet her cat that she rescued off the street (long story, neighbor lady just tossed cat out) 3 months ago. Walmart was fine and I picked up a couple of rolls of Christmas wrapping paper and a couple of Hallmark Christmas gift bags and gift tags - all 75% off. The shocker for me was when we hit Target and I saw price increases on things I sometimes pick up there. Suffice it to say, Target didn't get much business for me.
We had sunshine for a few hours yesterday morning. It's been overcast, dreary and raining on and off all day. We won't be hitting 60 degrees like they thought today, should reach highs around 50.

@Fressa Happy New Year! Busy day today with laundry, housecleaning, landfill trip and some grocery shopping to take advantage of certain sales.
For some odd reason, I started working on my tax stuff early this year. It's all ready to go when I get the forms in the mail.
I do have returns to make this week and I hate returns.

Good evening ladies, hope all is well.
Fressa - Thank you for starting us today. You are really on the ball getting tax information ready now. We had very nice temps today, also, we had over an inch of rain and some more coming tomorrow. I haven't watch any Q lately, and also have no desire to purchase anything. Can you tell I got my credit cards bills the last couple days.
Bernie - I know that Walmart is less expensive, but, I do shop Target more often. At ours, it is quieter, and people know how to drive better in the parking lot. I have watched more close calls in Walmarts lots than I would like to. Glad you got to stock up on Christmas wrap.
cindyNC - Happy New Year!
We are finally getting the house cleaned up after the open house, we had 31 people here. Some could not make it because of illness, I was glad they decided to stay home. I don't think we will do that again. After the terrible weather only days before the party, it would of been terrible if that happened the day of our party. Just not worth chancing it, we would have wasted a lot of money if no one could have made it.
Okay off my soap box.
I am trying to get organized around here (not a new year resolution, a must), going to start cleaning out again - still have too much stuff here.
Well off to watch some tv, have a good evening everyone.

Good Evening! Sorry about your weather and the swampy patio yard. We have had rainy and cool weather here lately. I guess I can't complain since we always need rain (as long as it is not torrential) in the desert, but it is pretty dreary.
Like you and Susan, I am trying to avoid purchasing more "stuff" even if it is nice and on a good sale. It helps if I keep busy and don't watch TV or surf the internet. For some reason, I tend to be a little more restrained when I am at the store.
Good for you with getting things ready for your taxes cindyNC. I'm still trying to settle on my budget for the year. I have made some baby steps toward getting my tax materials together, but not much.
The nearest Target is about 20 miles away from my house, and Walmart is about 3 miles. With COVID, gas prices, etc., etc., I haven't been to Target in quite a while. But, I agree with Susan about the parking lot.
It would be terrible to waste that much food, Susan. The weather can certainly cause problems for winter gatherings in most areas. Wise idea to consider something else for next year.
DGS and his wife didn't make it home until 2:00 a.m. due to flight delays and snow in Utah. Is it any wonder that I don't enjoy traveling to colder areas in the winter? LOL
I was the only regular volunteer who made it to the senior lunch program today since others were sick or traveling. So, it took quite a while for me to get everything done. I went to the gym late today, and it was very busy. But, I did my workout.
Waves to all of our posters and readers. Hope everyone sleeps well.
Hugs,
Linda

Birdmama---I think some of the retailers hiked the prices as of Jan.1st. I noticed that the Q had increased prices on the "new" items and even Kohl's when I was searching for a toaster. Looks like all of retail and utilities are adding in some extra % . UGH!!!
Glad you got some deals at Walmart.

cindyNC--I hate returns as well. It seems to make me hesitate to purchase any clothing item (especially) dreading a possible return.
You're way ahead of me on the tax prep. It usually takes me quite a few days to gather up all the info and put my post it notes on the forms with my questions or comments. I also use that time to switch the files over and destroy the old documents no longer needed to keep. Good luck.

PaLady---I'm glad your open house went well. Thank heavens the ones feeling ill stayed home. I always am concerned about that when we have our gang over here. I have very low resistence to any "bug" so it's always on my mind.
I agree with you on the "too much stuff". I still have sections that I didn't finish or get to last year and want it out of here. I spend so much time trying to find a donation center or charity for some items that it just gets too cluttered. In our area, they have all these specifics with what they will an will not accept. It's even difficult to find a donation bin in a parking lot.

LindaLatte----I agree with the parking lots dangerous drivers. Mine is the supermarket. Last year I had 3 hits on my car (and I was parked!!) with others backing out or trying to pull in. Honestly....you wonder how these people got a license.
Most of the stores that I used to frequent have closed in our area due to downsizing of there numbers in the city. I usually order via the web now and try to catch a free shipping offer. The discount malls and Wallmart are a bit of a drive and the Wallmart lot seems to be crazy all the time. They are still trying to redesign the supermarket parking lot to accomodate the shoppers and the grocery pick up demand. This will be the third try within 9 months. I think staffing is at the root of the problem. Quite a few of the employees who were part time were changed to part-part time. What a mess.

LindaLatte---I bet you had your hands full with being the sole person for the seniors lunch. What a challenge.
I remember flying back and forth out West during the winter (starting in July some years)Back then you could get a direct flight. Once we started to travel and had to switch planes in Dallas or Chicago the thrill was gone. I don't think I could handle it now and it wouldn't work with my prescription schedule.
I'm glad your family finally made it.
I find that it's a sense of relief when you can finally return to your "normal" schedule after the holidays or special ocassion. Glad you made it to the gym.
