SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, AUG. 16)

Good morning, shopping friends. I am one very tired person, so tired that I slept through a call to go to work. When I get in a deep sleep, there is something about the phone's ring that does not awaken me. The cell phone will but not the regular. Have no idea. Of course, it doesn't help that I have a hearing deficit on certain tones.

I do work tomorrow and Friday so having today off is just fine with me. Right now, I'm getting ready to watch Deniim & Co. Of course, I don't need anything but that doesn't keep me from watching.

I like the idea of the Emeril TSV air fryer but I really don't know if I would use it that much. Then there is the issue of counter space. A friend who has one of these bought a cart to keep their air fryer on.

Have a great day. If you shop, shop wisely.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, AUG. 16)

I do love those Logo days and make-up days, computer days, many of the cooking days (I know I'm leaving something out)...Ha!  Why?  You ask?  Are you asking if I spend more money on those days?  Quite the opposite!  Ha!

Those are the days when I buy little or nothing.  I can't wear Logo, way too thin and at the age of 70, my life-style  and I don't care for the style, I don't own any of it.  I have  daughter that does and I send her things but...I save money on me....

I like Fall better than any time of year.  The weather is perfect...(like the 3 bears)..."not too hot and not too cold"..just right!

Here in Va, (and the DC area, ugh)...lawmakers (well, they're supposed to at least pretend to do something) come back so all's right with the world...Hummm???

I don't shop in stores anymore.  Although yesterday ladies I took my 2 oldest granddaughters to DSW massive shoe store (bought each of them 2 pair of shoes) and Ulta (the mega make-up store).  I ended up getting the one granddaughter close to $200 worth of make-up...  The kid can't wear much outside of the house, but it's almost weird the way she loves to 'play' with it.  She just turned 14 (you know these days that means going on 20) so this was part of her birthday gift.  It doesn't take long to run up a bill in that place.  I guess it's good that everything popular is in the 'nude' (otherwise known as barely able to see) color so she won't be looking like a clown (at home because, like I said, she can't wear it outside of the house)...Ha!

As for me...my purchase consisted of 3 tubes of Clinique Creamy Eye-Make-up remover and Benefit's brown stuff.  As I've gotten old(er) I find that my brows (which used to be one of my best features) has taken a vacation permanently, so I need to darken them.  Isn't that weird to be known in high school for your brows?  I just didn't touch them.  Maybe normal brows were in and I didn't even realize it?  Ha!  That'd be me...unaware.....

Well, better go for now.  I don't usually post here but I love the headline you guys go under "Shopaholics"....I think that's me...sometimes.

Take care ladies...you guys are great.  I love your positive, upbeat, not knocking each other down attitude.  Thanks for letting me post.

Here's to Fall and careful (but wonderful..) shopping.  Annabelle..

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, AUG. 16)

Annabelle--Welcome! Feel free to post at any time! We are about the same age, so I can identify with not needing as much as I once did. Oh, eyebrows! I still have mine but a few grey hairs sneak in, so I touch them up. There are some young teens doing their eyebrows so dark and too wide that all you see are the brows (exaggeration) but the empahsis is taken away from the face that the brows are supposed to accent.

Speaking of shoes, when I ordered the Clarks TSV, I also ordered the Ashland Lane slip on that was on easy payments.  I just received them. The fit is much more comfy than the TSV.  I went back to the Q to see what was left in them and about all colors except brown, black and pewter were sold out in my size and with no easy pay. I then went to Amazon and spotted them available there. Now, should I pay$72 plus shipping at the Q or should I pay $39 plus $9.99 for shipping (not Prime)? I'll give you one guess what I did. The Clarks TSV will be going back despite it working well; I just like these shoes much better.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, AUG. 16)

Good morning, trying hard to wrap things up here.  My boss asked me to work till 9/2 so I am , but will be taking a few hours here and there .  She has been good to me, not everyone is willing to hire a 57 year old...still can't believe I will be retiring.

I just recieved the Susan Graver TSV, love them but they are too  big, so I returned them and am now on wait list.  At 5'11" I am always looking for tall pants.

Mark and I have joined a bowling league, he surprised me with a pink bowling ball and a matching bag...now if I could just bowl!

I have lots of projects i want to do around the house, first I am going to go through every drawer and closet.  Then I want to paint 2 of my guest rooms.

One thing I am greatly looking forward to is not having to go out in snow and icey weather.  I plan on staying in and putting  something in the crock pot on those days.  I am looking forward to enjoyng many simple pleasures and well as some traveling.

I hope that everyone is well.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, AUG. 16)

Good Morning and thanks for getting us started, Jean.  Sorry you are so tired, but I hope you can rest up today to be ready for work tomorrow and Friday.  I am still not sleeping very well, but I am working on it.  I had the idea that I could start sleeping a bit later (closer to 6:00 than 5:30), but my internal time clock won't permit me to do so just yet.

I have looked at the product reviews, but nothing calling my name as far as the Denim & Co. show goes.  Good thing since I have too many clothes to start with and have zero need to add to my collection.

Hi Annabelle -- sounds like you had a good, if expensive, shopping trip with your "grands".  I have been scolded for calling them my grandchildren since my youngest is 16.  The others are 18 and up, so no longer "children".  Definitely makes me feel old, but.....  Interesting about your brows.  I have used a brow pencil for a while since mine have faded badly.  Can't say that they were ever my best feature like yours were.  Please feel free to post any time.  We always welcome new members to this "no bash" thread.

Yesterday was another good one for me.  I visited DH twice.  The first time, a group of the residents were next door (in one of the other "houses") listening to a musical group.  I managed to sing along with some of their songs (hopefully not loud enough to bother anyone).  They were very good guitar players, and played some hymns I knew in addition to other songs that were mostly familiar.  I walked DH back to his building, and he did not want to walk indoors.  So, we just sat down and talked in the "great room".  I went to the thrift store across the street after our visit, but no luck.  Also, no luck at a re-sale store where the prices are much higher.  I noticed that his sheets were in the laundry, so I decided to buy him another set which I found at a discount store that adds an extra discount for "seniors" on Monday.

After lunch, I went back to visit DH, and he was alert again -- good news.  We walked around a couple of times, but he wanted to go back to his room and listen to music.  As I was leaving, one of the caretakers told me that he is getting up and walking on his own sometimes, and he was able to take his night pills just with water rather than have them crushed and put into applesauce.  And, he is sleeping better.  She and another caretaker said that it seemed like he liked being there -- I could not ask for more.

Next it was on to the laundromat to wash our comforter -- boy, is that expensive.  I managed to make it to the pool after that, and the water was great.  My favorite pool buddy was there, but we were both concentrating on swimming rather than talking this time.

Anyway, I am so pleased that DH is settling in well, and I am getting a chance to do things without so much worry, etc.

Thanks to all of you for your support.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, AUG. 16)

Jean, it is probably a good thing that you didn't hear the phone this morning.  Hope that you have a good bunch of children the next two days.  The air fryer looks interesting, but I don't need any more gadgets.

Annabellethecat  It is nice to see you posting.  I keep wanting to go into an Ulta, but never make it.  Sounds like you had a fun time.  Yes, these ladies are SO nice.

I waited all afternoon yesterday for the lawyer to call & I am still waiting. Today is the last day that creditors can put in their claim.  I am so ready to be done with her estate.

I walked earlier this morning with a friend before the hot weather strikes.  I slept poorly last night as I took a 3 hour nap yesterday trying to sleep off my infusion.  DH is doing pork chops on the grill tonight.

Yesterday as I was coming home from the clinic, there were 3 police cars & fire chief at a house several blocks from us.  She has been known as the "cat lady."   Apparently they condemned the house &  confiscated 56 cats.  This is the 3rd nice home that she has done this to.  apparently they had a HUGE net & several police were bitten.  Such a sad story about our furry friends.

On a nicer note our niece & great niece are coming for a cookout tomorrow night.  I thought that I lost my post, but was able to download it.

Rosa, I am so happy for you & Mark & your near retirement. Have fun with your bowling league.

Linda L. It sounds like DH is doing well & it is so great that you can enjoy yourself too.

Hugs to all of you

Rosa--Retirement can be quite an adjustment and it is something many fail to plan for adequately but you are not one of them. I am sorry the SG pants didn't work out; hopefully, the new size will work for you.

Linda--You are so fortunate to have found a facility that is a good fit for DH as he seems to be doing well there. I know that gives you great peace of mind. With time, you internal clock will adjust and you will be able to get in some extra sleep.

Twinny--It is understandable that the infusion would make you tired, requiring a nap. That is such a sad story about the cats. Our furrry friends require good care. I do hope you sleep better tonight. We don't have an Ultra so I've never  been in one.The only Sephora we have is the one contained in JCP.

Nothing on Denim & Co. to entice me today. I do see that they are emphasizing in many lines the "only order for the season." I guess that is one way of cutting costs as they are not stocking more than might be sold.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, AUG. 16)

I am on an official rest day.,I took Syd out to brunch at I ho and that is it for tomorrow. The f the garage sale, humidity and my infusion tomorrow makes this not an easy one for me.

I purchased a rotisserie series chicken for dinner.,they are good and we do not get them very often.

Jean...I admire your for subbing.,that had to be one of the most difficult jobs on earth.,Venus a principal,,I did not enjot it...I love teaching but it is easier with your "own" students. I gave each teacher a free period each semester where I would teach the class.

Rosa..you will love retirement. It is the best thing I ever did.

annabelle ,nice to see you posting here.

i Received the Clariks boots and will keep them. Good you found something that you liked better, jean

it sounds as if dh is adjusting very well..

twinny glad lad your infusion went well.

(((((Hugs))) to all.
