Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, APRIL 29)

Jean, I heard the story on a nationwide news program that covers issues of interest to Christians. Apparently the Freedom From Religion Foundation has complained that the school's wrestling team's T-shirts have a Bible verse on the back. {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes} Boy, these atheists who claim that God doesn't exist sure do fight Him tooth and nail, don't they? {#emotions_dlg.unsure} Well, ultimately they'll end up in the one place where He isn't, but I doubt they'll be happy about it. Wink

BTW, Amazon was the first place I looked at for a sturdy but inexpensive shelving unit. They have one that would be perfect, but it's out of stock and they have no idea of when they'll get more in. It's not something I'm willing to wait a long time for, since I'm sick and tired of the inadequate storage cubes I have now. They're just joined together with plastic "thingies," and keep collapsing.

I love flowers too, but I have a black thumb. {#emotions_dlg.thumbdown} I have roses in front of my fence and do nothing with them, but they're thriving, and there are some other flowers that have made an appearance - daffodils, iris, etc. My front porch rails are covered in honeysuckle, which grow like crazy. The only thing I do with them is cut them back; I like that they cover the rails that need painting! {#emotions_dlg.laugh} My pond plants are the only ones that tHrive; in fact, they're so prolific that I'll make a little extra money selling them.

OK, off to Publix!

Arlene--That school is in the city 60 miles away but not in my school district. We didn't get too bent out of shape about that type of thing. Now, our school's nickname is the "Red Devils." The gym is informally called the "Devil's Den." No one has ever said we were worshiping the devil. I think you are under estimating your green thumb. Enjoy your flowers.

I am going to have carry out from the pizza place. I don't feel like fixing anything to eat, even something that can be popped in a microwave. I feel like comfort food.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, APRIL 29)

Jean I had pizza for lunch. I went to Target and got a couple things then ran through their little eatery that had a pizza hut pizza. Not good for me but like you said, nothing wrong with comfort food.

I also stopped by the Bath and Body outlet. Sprays were $6. I bought the 2 items I went for and got one free, and couldn't pass up a $6 spray. Now I will have a set with DH. Last night I took out some of my/his favorite tops and put them on my new huggable style hangers and put them in the RV. He is leaving in the morning.

It will be strange to rush home tomorrow and watch TV alone. I am looking forward to some new adventures though, 2 days and I will be headed up for the weekend.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, APRIL 29)

Very sorry to hear about the young lady Jean.

Yes, LindaR -- it is my "Army guy" -- what a sweet guy. I think that I will be there during his graduation time, but I will not be able to attend since tickets are limited. DD isn't sure that she will be able to get enough tickets for all the kids, and definitely not for me. It is a shame, but.....

Thanks for the additional information about Rosa, Arlene. I was thinking that she would need to close the insurance office. Hope that she won't have any financial issues since she will be out of a job.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, APRIL 29)

LindaL, I think that since Rosa's husband was an insurance agent, he left her well provided for, but the thing about having a job is it takes your mind off the grieving and loneliness - that was the worst thing for me after my husband died - he not only didn't have insurance, but I wasn't working so I had a real nightmare.

Well, the refrigerator is running again, but this is what happened the first time: it stopped running, and by the time the repairman came it had starting running again. That was the really lousy repair place (F rating with the BBB) and all he did was write down the serial number and tell me, "Oh, this happens sometimes when the weather changes." That was IT! {#emotions_dlg.angry} Needless to say, it died again a few weeks later - and I demanded they get a different repair company. Now I just want that piece of garbage outta here.

Anyway, I went to Publix, but don't want to take a chance on buying more food than I can eat right away; mostly I got cat food and a few snack items that don't need refrigeration. I took the girls around the walking trail once before the wind changed direction, indicating a front was coming through, then we stopped at Dollar Tree where they each got a new hula chicken toy (their favorite) and I got some car wash stuff. No Frosties today - they gouged themselves on melted ice cream yesterday! It's now clouding up a lot and looks like the storms are about to hit again.

Jean, I'm sick and tired of these people who find offense at every little thing that doesn't agree with their world view - in fact, it's they who offend me! {#emotions_dlg.mad} I was just reading that school caved, which is a shame.

Have a good night!

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, APRIL 29)

Rosa: Don't know if you are reading---prayers for you continue.

Karen: Prayers for your family.

I learned that my cousin will be having his leg amputated. He is a severe diabetic---prayers for him appreciated.

LindaL: I know of a young man who is going to join the Army while in HS also---his dad was in the Army---so I think it might be good for this young man. Even if you can't attend you will be there during the time. I know that seating/tickets are issues.

Hopefully the severe weather is not affecting any of our ladies---reports are heartbreaking. Have seen several beloved pets found in the rubble.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, APRIL 29)

I guess I should have mentioned that my DGS is in the Army Reserves. He will be going to basic training this summer and then having some sort of additional training after that. The current plan is that he will start college next January. Of course, the Army may have other plans, but.....

Sorry to hear about your cousin LindaR -- I'll be praying for him.
