Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, 3/10)

Marijane, DS doesn't go to anyplace that is mainly seafood, but hasn't had a problem, at least that I'm aware of, if he goes someplace where a few dishes are offered within a varied menu. Being a lot older now, may have helped too. The times he had problems we were in our kitchen at home, or that of friends he visited with DH. He won't eat fish of any kind, even now, though he's never had an issue with fish. Can't say I blame him...... pinky

Twinny....we got your snow instead of you this winter! That's what usually happens to us when wego out to lunch......too full to have supper. my husband is not a shopper either Gayle.....if we do happen to go together he just wants to go in get what he went for and is out in a nanosecond. He is like that in the supermarket too.....he does go sometime,es to pick something up but is in and out.......I always go alone.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, 3/10)

Jean I really like that jacket and imagine that you look great in it. I would be tempted to order one but my clothing needs have really changed. I thought I remembered that you built a little 'sad cushion' into your budget in other years. Way to go on losing an extra pound!!

Ann, I'm so happy that you had a good birthday! I love the little bunnies too, and there is at least one that lives in the RV park. We saw it hopping across the parking lot last night, of course Kyanne had a fit but they are so cute!! Then later went and looked over where all the water was running out, and it was hiding in a low spot on the ground frozen in place. So precious! I used to see them at home quite often, as a couple would play in our yard at night.

Gayle we had enough rain too - I was happy to get wet socks and boots off yesterday after working in them all day! Yuck! Did Dh go walking outdoors with you? I can't buy my DH Levis off the rack anymore, he's getting so picky.

Marijane I love stir fry, what time should I stop in? Sadly, it is just food to DH so I try not to fix it too much, and noticed our freezer is full of stir fry veggies! Smiley Very Happy

Twinny, we sure made a memory with dinner the other night! I'm so glad DH is better too, the steroid shot they gave him made him a bit emotional. It was a bit odd for my John Wayne to be like that, but I knew it was just the Rx because they make DD weepy and before have made DH angry. I told him I prefered to not have him angry. Smiley Happy

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, 3/10)

Hi girls! Well, the rain has begun and supposedly is going to continue on for the rest of the week. {#emotions_dlg.thumbdown} I guess I have no excuse to put off the spring cleaning; I know a lot of professionals advocate doing one job at a time throughout the house (like doing all the floors, polishing all the furniture, etc.), but I think I'm going to just do one room at a time; that way I'll see results quicker and hopefully it'll encourage me to continue. I really dislike cleaning but...it must be done.

I got two boxes packed and ready to go for the troops yesterday; today I'm going to prepare several boxes filled with goody bags for the guys who don't get mail from home; the chaplains will distribute them. That and cleaning are my projects for today - how exciting, huh? (Although preparing the packages is fun.)

Jean, how's your niece doing? I forgot to tell you I posted a prayer request for her on my board; over 100 people have been praying for her.

Gayle, I was right down the road from Beall's Outlet yesterday and remembered the Monday discount. I was tempted to go and look around for that reason alone, but to be honest, there's nothing I need or want - I have more clothing than I can use, and don't need anything for the house. One thing I decided I would like to get in the near future is a clock radio with a CD player. I had a nice 5-disc CD player, but it died after just a few months; the one I have now plays only one and doesn't have very good sound. I'm thinking it would be nice to have one in the bedroom so I can listen to Bible studies and such. Actually, it seems like CD players are getting harder to find; I guess MP3s are taking over.

I seem to have a leak in my roof; I noticed some water stains on my dining room ceiling, and there's only one of the big closets above it - nothing with water. I'm going to have to track down where it's coming from, and hopefully get someone who can patch it up for a reasonable price.

Pinky, I wonder where the animals go during the winter as well. My birds have been going through a feeder full of seed every two days, but I noticed that almost all the seed I put in the other day is now on the ground. Well...they'll just have to eat it from there!

Jean, that was a long time to wait for a repair! I love my mechanic; if something is going to take more than an hour they have someone drive me home, then pick up me again when the car is ready. Of course, I get some special treatment since I often bring them baked goods... {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Which reminds me, I haven't done any baking in almost a month; between the bad weather and the bad knee, I didn't have much opportunity to do things for others. Come to think of it, the last time I baked was for Valentine's Day - I made cupcakes for Victor (who does my odd jobs) and sugar-free whoopie pies for his wife.

LindaL, I so wish we had a book club here! My church in Hawaii has a ladies' book club, and it's another reason I miss it so much. This past week they also had their annual clothes swap party - everyone really enjoyed those.

I guess I'd better get a move on - nothing pressing to do, but I should get up from the couch. In fact, maybe I'll start my exercise program today; I have a Gazelle, which won't put any stress on my knees.

Have a blessed day, everyone!

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, 3/10)

I spent the afternoon finishing a novel on my Kindle, and turned on the Q to see them featuring the jacket I discussed earlier. I'm tempted to get it in the royal blue but will pass as it will always be available. The aqua looks better on Marybeth than it does on me. I like the more intense colors.

Arlene--My niece is still in the hospital but is expected to go home soon with hospice care. Thank you for asking. It is pouring the rain here also. Sometimes those roof leaks are hard to determine where they start as the water can run from the point of entry to where it stains the ceiling.

Kathleen--Steroid shots affect people in various ways, and the angry side is one that few would like to see. It is good that he is getting better. I know you can't wait to get a letter from DD but I know they are restricted to writing only on certain days.

Marijane--The rain combined with the amount of snow you had can lead to flooding, which is the concern in our area. I do hope that you escape flooding. Usually if I eat lunch out, I rarely have dinner as I am too full.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, 3/10)

Well I started looking at reservations and the first 2 places there was NO availability. I made a reservation at a Courtyard but once I started looking it was a (king) w/ little seating area/sofa and I was hoping for more room.

Then found a "suite" with queen bed with a sofa bed and full kitchen. They have a shuttle to the graduation (not from airport, too far) but no pool like the other place.

So I now have 2 reservations! What I'm reading is that DD will be very tired and might just want to sleep. I kind of like the full kitchen idea too, as DH might want to just cook there instead of go out to eat the whole time.

I can already feel my travel anxiety kicking in, and haven't even looked at airfare yet.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, 3/10)

Is this for your DD's graduation, Kathleen? DD had all sorts of trouble getting a room for DGS's graduation -- very pricey and limited availability. And, there was a lot of back and forth about how much time DGS had off the base. She found the restaurants very crowded, so having a kitchen sounds like a very good idea. They drove to the base, but I imagine that is too far for you. Hopefully, things will work out just fine, but I can understand your travel anxiety. Thinking of you.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, 3/10)

Marijane, I think that our DS & DDIL got the worst of the snow though. Jean, I really like that D & Co. jean jacket. I would probably get the white one. RC, I am glad that your DH is feeling better. I didn't realize that there were so many different side effects from the shot. Sometimes I get a cortisone shot in my big toe. It hurts a lot the next day, but then feels much better. I never even got the Highs from prednisone when I was on a high dose. Nothing jars me out of my skin.
