SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, 3/10)

Good Morning, Ladies! Hope everyone is having a nice Tuesday. It is a beautiful sunny day here, and it is unseasonably warm (may reach 80 degrees). That suits me for sure, since I like warm weather. Unseasonably warm other times of the year (like June) would not be good, however.

Our bookclub meeting yesterday was great, and we have picked books for the next few months. Although I am not officially the "leader" of the bookclub, I do take notes, send out information by e-mail, etc., etc. Nice when things go relatively smoothly.

Today, DH and I have the senior lunch program, and I plan to go to the gym and take a walk in the afternoon. Nothing else exciting going on here.

Waves to Jean, Kathleen, Arlene, twinny, pinky ann, Gayle, Susan, Marijane, LindaR, Rosa, Karen, cerb, and all of our posters and readers.

Please stop by and let us know what is happening with you.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, 3/10)

Good morning friends! Linda our weather is nicer today too, though no sun. You never seem to complain much in the summer like I do. I'm glad you like your locale so much.

DH was feeling better last night and even better today so I expect that the prescriptions will "do the trick". I did get my 10,000 steps in last night, but this morning when my alarm went off I went right back to sleep so no walking this morning.

Last night we went out to eat and I ate all my chicken fried steak. Was so happy to take my baked potato and steamed veggies home. Got home, did what I needed to do, looked around, no leftovers. I was sad, left them sitting right there. DH said "don't feel bad, I will take you again tomorrow night."

I got my vacuum but did not even unpack it last night. I also got the letter I've been waiting on so have an address to start mailing cards to DD. It was just a form letter so no news, but now I am able to make travel arrangements for next month.

Not much else to report. Thanks for starting the thread!! Hugs to all!

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, 3/10)

Hi Linda, Have a good lunch with DH. I'm glad your book club went well yesterday. It's nice to know what you'll be reading in advance, since you have plenty of time to find the books.

Arlene, Thanks for the birthday wishes, it was a very good one. I had considered inviting our guest from last night to post with us, but was unsure how it would be received, so I let it go....

Nice and quiet here today. I'm just doing odds and ends around the house, after a short grocery trip earlier. It's warming up this week, continuing well into the weekend, and not a moment too soon! Smiley Happy

I noticed the birds and squirrels are leaving most of the food I put out for them, so they must be finding plenty to eat again. The first rabbit of the season hopped through the carport the other day as I was getting in the car. It's so nice to see them return, though I have no idea where they're hiding all winter. It was also a welcome sound hearing a flock of geese yesterday morning when I was outside for a few minutes. Love the animals and birds we have here!

Not much else going on, so I'll check back later. Have a nice afternoon! pinky

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, 3/10)

Linda--Thank you for starting the thread. 80 degrees sounds good to me. You sound like a very efficient member of the book club. Enjoy your senior lunch and the gym.

Kathleen--Good news on DH. Eating out is also good medicine! Enjoy the new vac!

Ann--Thanks for taking care of the animals. Although yours seem to be finding food, many don't.

I'm watching my favorite Denim & Co. hour with Carolyn. I had thought about venturing out again today as I didn't have time yesterday with the car recall, but the rain changed that along with the flood warnings for our area.

I did take the car in yesterday for the oil change and the recall. The recall letter said that the service for the recall would be long. I managed to get to the dealership at 11:45 and left at 3:45. The tablet certainly came in handy to pass the time. I could have taken the courtesy van to the mall but I wasn't in the mood for retail therapy there. I just enjoyed sitting there and relaxing. In the process, they discovered the car battery wasn't charging right so it had to be replaced. That was a zero cost as the battery was still within the warranty period.

I think with the purchase of the convection toaster oven, the Vionic sandals, and the QF crops, I'll not come in less than the balance of my pay in full card when it posts tomorrow compared to the same month last year. I think the cabin fever and being snow bound derailed my attempt to be conservative in spending. I'll just have to try better for the next statement month.

I do like the Denim & Co. jacket being shown today but I prefer the 3/4 sleeve version to the hi-lo hem version with long sleeves. I noticed the long sleeves were very long on the tall models which means down on the hand for me requiring the sleeves to be turned back.

I am down another pound, so there is good news in that department. I also took time to make an appointment to get my hair styled on Saturday. Today, I'll be finding more things for donation when I go to the city on Saturday.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, 3/10)

Hi Kathleen, Happy to hear good news about DH! I hope you love your new vacuum cleaner. DD will be excited to receive mail, and I know you must feel better knowing where she is and how to reach her. Enjoy your dinner with DH!

Jean, I'm happy they found your battery issue while they had the car, and it was no cost to replace. I think that a tough winter, combined with the stress of all the tests for health concerns could be good reasons for a few treats for yourself. Why not? Hope you're feeling ok today. pinky

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, 3/10)

LL, Your book club sounds like fun & I am sure that you are a real asset to them. I just had my haircut & my hair stylist is leaving on Thursday for Mesa with friends for a week. They will be golfing & seeing some baseball games.

FHG, I am glad that you had a fun outing yesterday. The surprises were a nice thought for you too.

RC, I am glad that DH is feeling better. It is good news that you can send your DD letters. I am sure she will really cherish them. The restaurant story the other night was funny. DH & I did that same thing about 10 years ago. We were heading to a town about an hour away for a Friday night fish fry. The town is in a cove. You can see it but can't get to it. We left home at 4:00 p.m. in nice weather & arrived at our destination at 7:00 in a blizzard. I was a nervous wreck as our DD was expecting their baby girl any moment. She was born 3 days later.

Jean, I was watching D & Co. too. I am looking for a new jean jacket. I did like the one that they showed but I don't know about the longer hem in the back. I am glad that your car battery was replaced for free. That was a long time at the shop. Good thing for your Kindle.

DH took his walk today & said it was very nice out. We were in the 50's yesterday & it will be upper 50's all week. They said 60's by next Monday. This is much above normal for this time of year. The snow is all gone except by the road where the plows did their thing. I am sure that March will go out like a lion as he came in like a gentle lamb.

Since my hair looks so nice we are having lunch out today. It is short & a little spikey just like I like it. It will be wonderful for when we are in the pool & ocean.

I am trying to take it easy again this week. Things going on each day but still quiet for me. Hot tub & a nap do wonders for me.

I did talk to mom today. She still sees no improvement in her eyesight, but her spirits are up. She keeps asking when we are going on vacation & where.

Hugs to all of you.

Twinny--When it comes to Denim & Co. jean jackets, I have 3 of these: A223022. The reviews are great for a reason; it is a great jacket. I have it in bright pink, aqua and white. I wear the white and pink the most.

Denim & Co. 3/4 Sleeve Colored Denim Jean Jacket

Enjoy your lunch out and it is good that your mother's spirits are good.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, 3/10)

Hello Ladies.....I also have several of these D&C jean jackets Twinny....some have the regular sleeve length I have in darker colors for the fall...I even have 2 swirl print ones....and also the same colors Jean has. Glad you like your hair cut and it will be an easy care for when you are away. I go tomorrow to get my regular 4week cut and color. Still praying that your mom will have some improvement in her eyes.

Kathleen hopefully you will be nearing from your DD soon....I remember when my DS went into the Marinesboot camp I would wait for a letter and wrote to him every day... Glad that your DH is feeling better too.

Pinky I did see that post last night but did not respond. The snow is starting to melt here too and we are expecting RAIN later...it's in the low 40's now. I guess I never realized how people can be so allergic to things as to not even be able in the same place . So your DS can't even go into a store/resturant that serves shell fish?

Have a nice time at your senior lunch today LindaL.. I think the 80's temps sound good to me any time of year!

Not much here, tonight I'm making stir fried chicken /veggies for supper .

Have a nice afternoon everyone......Marijane

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, 3/10)

Hello All,

Jean, I love that jacket, hope to get one someday.

Today, I ventured out to the grocery store after an hour of outdoors walking. I need to get a pedometer to track better. We had a guy doing some minor repairs on our roof so I didn't want to mess with showering and getting "all pulled together" with workers running afoot. On the way home, I stopped at a Bealls Dept store (senior day which warrants a discount) and bought my husband a new pair of Levi's. He has 2 pairs now but they are definitely at the end of their life. He was pleased as he not much of a clothes shopper.

I am so glad the rain has passed, 30 hours on and off was enough for me.

I hope everyone has a great day! Gayle

Re: SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (TUESDAY, 3/10)

Marijane, it has been sunny here for over a week until today when we had dense fog early this morning. Then more sunshine. I talked to our DS Saturday night & he said some of the snow is melting but they still have a lot to get rid of yet. On TV last evening they said we have only gotten 31" of snow this year--12" less than our normal snowfall for the year. I think DH only used the snow blower 3 times this year. Most of the snowfalls were 2" or less. We only had a couple in the 8" range. Snow is good for us as it puts moisture in the soil & if we don't get much rain we aren't in a drought situation. Have a fun day at the salon tomorrow.

Gayle, I would rather have snow than rain any day. My DH is the shopper around here. I am good for a store or two then I mall watch. Kohl's & JCP are his favorite's. We are planning to go to the mall in the "capital city" on Friday, but there is a lot of unrest going on up there right now. A gang related mall shooting about 10 days ago in the food court. The fight started outside in the parking lot, but ended in the food court. Thank goodness no injuries. Then over the weekend a 19 year old was shot & killed by a police officer. He was unarmed but considered dangerous. Yesterday the HS's & university up there walked out & did some big time picketing. It is usually a very peaceful city.

I was going to fix a nice dinner tonight, but we are pretty full from lunch so that dinner will be tomorrow night.
