Hi Everyone!
HAPPY GARDEN DAY!!! We're in the middle of a snow/ice storm and more on the way thru the weekend. I do like winter. (not the ice) but at this point I'm tired of trying to break icicles from the gutters. We use our SnowJoe Snowblower (battery style) yesterday and it did a great job. So pleased!! It is so quiet compared to our gas blower. We have more snow today so it will be another test run.
I stuck to my list of just replacing and scaling back the gardens for this coming year with any new purchases. I bought the bamboo greenery screens to replace the old ones and the tomatoes. Since these are for pots I will give them a try. I miss having the tomatoes in the garden so I hope to spread these around to any of the enclosed areas and see what grows where.
I noticed that Carolyn was wearing the D&Co TSV. I think I will try to pass on this one...maybe. I did the final decluttering of the lingerie drawers and a few old sweatshirts that I wear for gardening. It felt great just to have some task 'DONE"!
Today I hope to switch out the wreaths on the doors. Having the iced evergreen swags in February is starting to "bug' me. Hopefully, I'll get something dusted or the masterbath sink rearranged to accomodate the new toothbrush. I'll have some snow chores as well.
Birdmama---You certainly got your workout with the snowshovels. That assist lever seems to be on more and more of the shovels. It certainly makes a difference with your back.
LindaLatte--Your OLLI classes about different points of travel and history reminded me of a few series that I watched on PBS. I watched a program Sunday night about George Washington in his younger days right before he met Mary. It was interesting and a different view of George.
Have a good afternoon/evening. Stay safe from the storms.

Fressa--Thank you for starting the thread. I no longer order any plants from the Q. The zone is correct for planting or was at one time, but the problem is that we are on the border of two planting zones and spring has been launching itself later and later. As a result, the plants are received too early.
We had the worst snow we have had in a few years. Winter is getting old, especially when it aggravates arthritis more than rain. I spent the morning working inside the house. I had no desire to look at the white stuff.
You don't know how many clothes you have until they are all pulled out. I think that is one of the reasons some suggest you take all the clothes and dump them on the bed. I am doing a Lent challenge of finding something to donate each day. 40 days equals 40 items.

Good evening ladies, hope all is well.
Fressa - Thank you for starting us today. Good job for sticking to your list for gardening. I have not thought much about flowers or vegetable garden plants. We are debating about a garden - we seem to feed the rabbits, chipmunks, and the local groundhogs. In other words - we get nothing.
Jean - Like you I am tired of winter. I hate to look out the window. We have been much luckier than you the last couple days, the most recent snow went north and south of us. I don't order plants on line either, I got them too early and they did not survive. The ones that I did get planted, they did grow nicely.
DH and I were just talking and he said he is tired of winter and he just wants to sweat. I don't want to sweat, I just want to be able to sit on my deck. Oh well, soon enough. Not much happening around here, I can not believe February is halfway over. I hope everyone has a great evening.

Good Evening and thanks for getting us started, Fressa. Like Jean and Susan, I no longer order plants from the Q. Our climate is just so different than most of the country, and I use local garden centers instead. They know better what grows here, which is a help. But, I still am not having a lot of luck growing anything other than cactus and some herbs.
Glad you are "sticking to your guns" as far as scaling back on the gardens goes. I have not seen the Q all day, but I am probably not ordering the D&Co. TSV due to my clothing excess.
That PBS show sounds interesting. I have been watching the latest version of "All Creatures Great and Small" and really enjoy it.
Glad your Snow Joe is working so well.
Sorry about the snow and wintry weather, Jean. DD said it was snowing there, but so far, no ice. Nevertheless, she had no plans to go out, and many places were closed due to the weather.
I am not doing the Lenten challenge, but I do try to declutter -- just way too much stuff.
Hope your weather improves as well, Susan, and you can get back to sitting on your deck.
You certainly have been doing a lot of shoveling, Bernie. Hope you can keep your shovels working.
I know it is much warmer than most places, but it feels chilly here (went down to freezing last night), but it made it to the upper 50's today. Starting tomorrow, we are supposed to get warmer weather, which I welcome. While it wasn't too chilly outside, the house is pretty chilly since I don't turn up the thermostat very high to save $$.
The big news is that I finally have an appointment to get my first COVID vaccine on St. Patrick's Day. There doesn't seem to be much hope for getting it locally, but I did find a place about 25 miles away. And, I could pick a time in the middle of the day rather than late at night.
My grocery shopping went fine as did my OLLI British History class, and hospice deliveries. I learned that one of DH's nurses (she had been his nurse for nearly two years and changed to a different hospice), is back at the hospice where I volunteer. I'd love to see/talk with her again sometime.
Waves to all of our posters and readers. Hope everyone sleeps well.
Hugs,
Linda
