SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME, Saturday, May 2nd

[ Edited ]

Good morning ladies, hope all is well.

Bernie, Hope you leg is doing better.  No,  you are not the only one marveling that it is May already.  How are all the animals doing?

Linda -  Sorry your lunch was disappointing, I think I would stick with the salmon or macaroni and cheese also.

Fressa - Sorry about the reaction to the thorns, glad DH is going to dispose of it.  I am also decluttering clothes (again).  Right now the weather has been weird here, warm one day and cold and damp the next so it is hard to put away the winter clothes as of yet.  I told myself to wear every shirt I have for the summer and get rid of what I don't like.  We will see how that goes.

DH and I were supposed to be leaving for London next Tuesday, but, he had a mild stroke this past Monday and came home on Thursday.  He was very lucky that the effects of the stroke were short term. I can tell his speech is still a little slurred or should say lispy.  We go to the GP next week and will be getting physical and speech therapy prescriptions for him.  He has been very lucky when it comes to the strokes he has had.   So now I am putting away all the piles of "stuff" I was taking on vacation, I really need to learn to pack lighter.

Not much more here to report on.  Hope everyone has a great morning.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME, Saturday, May 2nd

Good Afternoon!  So sorry your DH had a stroke, Susan.  Glad it was a mild one, but of course, it would be much better if he didn't get them at all.  Do they know what might be causing the strokes?

It is really a shame you could not take your trip.  Hope you are able to go at a later date when he is well.  What a drag to have to unpack everything.  Good luck with your decluttering plan.

My SIL's car (the one they drove to Maryland yesterday) broke down today.  They were able to get it into the shop, but there is probably no way they will be able to return to South Carolina on Monday as planned.  What a mess!  DD's car broke last week, and the mechanic said it was beyond repair (old used car), so it is very important that my SIL's car is in good working order since his office is at least an hour drive away from their home.

She looked around a little, but did not find a car so far.  When it rains it pours.

Jean posted that she will be going home on Monday.  I'm not sure how far along she is with PT, or how difficult it will be for her at home.  But, imagine that her insurance for the rehab facility has run out.

I am extremely tempted by the TSV sandals, but I am trying to resist due to the price and the cost of returning if they don't work out.  Meanwhile, my electric toothbrush needed to be replaced (ordered from Amazon), and I will probably be spending on new hearing aids soon.  That should be enough to stop me from ordering, but.....

Waves to Susan, Fressa, Bernie, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone sleeps well.

Hugs,

Linda

@PAlady I am so sorry to read that your husband had a mild stroke and that the both of you will not be able to travel to London as planned.  Do the doctors know what's causing your husband to have strokes?  It has to be frightening for the both of you.

My menagerie is doing well Woman Happy and Piper the cat has settled in better than I could have hoped.

Linda @LindaLatte   I'm really sorry to read about your daughter and son in law's car problems.  Cars new or used are so darned expensive these days that it's ridiculous.

I hope that Jean is able to manage at home after she's discharged from rehab.

I never really talk about the price of gas in the thread however I got the shock of my life yesterday.  When I filled my gas tank on April 20th prices were still under $4 a gallon (regular unleaded).  Yesterday I stopped in the gas station to fill a new gas can (for the mower) and top off Camille (my car) and I paid $4.68 a gallon (regular unleaded).  It was $4.79 but I saved 11 cents per gallon as a Speedway Rewards member.

That is a really high price for gasoline, Bernie.  The last time I looked, regular was 4.45 a gallon.  The price for diesel was nearly $6.00 a gallon.

Glad things are going better than expected with your menagerie.

PALady---

Sorry to hear about your DH's stroke.  Glad that it was a mild one.

Our weather has been odd for this time of year. We've had frost the last two nights. So far...it looks like the cucumber plants didn't surviv. Crossing my fingers for the the other plants.

I always packed too much when I traveled.  I tried to pack "light" (for me) but was always missing something when I arrived.I gues it's a skill that I'm missing. LOL

Have a good afternoon.

LindaLatte--

Thanks for the update on Jean.

Car problems are such problem. Repairs or purchase give me a migraine. We're at that point where we question -do we both need a car and then one of them has an issue.I guess we'll wait another year or two.

The TSV sandals looked nice, especially the colors. It's so difficult to stay on budget when there's a good deal and a coupon code.

Have a good afternoon.

Birdmama--

Sorry to hear about your illness but glad that it's able to be treated without being in the hospital. I don't leave my dogs either. So nice to hear that Piper is making progress. That's always such a relief.

Have a good afternoon.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME, Saturday, May 2nd

Good Morning/Afternoon!  Hope the weather is okay where you live.

Nothing new from Jean at this point.  Hope your medication is doing the trick, Bernie.  Also hope your DH is doing okay, Susan.

I am relieved to report that my SIL's car is repairable, and they hope to have it back no later than tomorrow afternoon.  Whew!  Not a good time to buy a car, and particularly difficult when you are many miles from home.

Quiet day here so far, and the weather is fine -- it was in the low 60's on my walk and the high for today is predicted to be 81 degrees.

I was surprised to see one of my LED bulbs was flickering.  Fortunately, I had a back-up bulb, but need to buy more since I notice that several other seem to be not at bright as they used to be.  I guess I was fulled into the idea that LED bulbs last for many years, but when I looked at the box those long times were based on the bulb being used for three hours per day.  Several of my lamps are on much longer than three hours.

On the bird front, I found a broken egg on my patio this morning.  Those doves are certainly not having a lot of luck with their nests.

Waves to Fressa, Bernie, Susan, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone sleeps well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME, Saturday, May 2nd

Hi Everyone!

This is our first day of sun and warm temps. We are seeing a few more veggie plants and flowers that look in "sad" shape from the weather changes. Today is our first day of sun and warm temps. YIPPEE! It will be nice if the weather just holds like this until next week. The replacement garden fence has arrived and I'm anxious to get that installed and toss the rusted panels in the trash. It will be nice to have one item checked off the "to do" list.

I finally switched the front door wreaths from Spring / Easter to a Garden wreath.Soon I'll add the patriotic wreaths and flags on the front porch. I don't feel as behind on the "to do" list if the front door has the proper wreath hanging.  It's a small thing but ....

So much fashion on the weekend shows but I did resist.... this time. I love to look even at kitchen gadgets. It's calming to me. I think it's from all those years in a hectic career. At least that's what I tell myslef. LOL  Hope those that shopped found some bargains.

Hope evryone is feeling well/recovering and having nice weather.

Have a good afternoon/evening.
