SHOPAHOLICS: ONE DAY AT A TIME (SUNDAY)

Good afternoon, shopping friends. It is a beautfiul sunny but cool day here....a great day to deal with a cold that has decided to visit me.

I survived Accessory Day without any purchases from the Q; I did buy groceries and needs yesterday. I was skimming some of the threads and noting the caution some were expressing about buying items..expensive ones... in this time of economic downturn. True, quality items at a higher price can last for a long time and be cost effective but if we already have them, then do we truly need to invest that type of money when the money might be directed toward more necessasry areas. It is also true that some do not have to be concerned with this at this point in time, but one never knows when that time might arrive.

I'm living in an area of very high unemployment right now. College educated people are working for slightly more than minimum wage becauses there is no longer any demand for their training. When bills need to be paid, people set aside pride and take whatever job they can get.

Sometimes, I feel a little wasteful when I look at the quality handbags and shoes I have. At the same time, I know that these will last and will potentially save me money compared to the cost of these items in the future. I take good care of my items so they last a long time. At the same time, however, I do like something different and it is at that time I wrestle with the buying decision.

We are all different with different lifestyles and incomes. Buying wisely still remains a common concern among all of us.

Have a great day. If you shop, shop wisely!
