The oncologist's hospice recommendation had to be so hard for Bev to hear.  She's been in a battle with cancer for a long time. I'm glad there's a tentative agreement with the dock workers.  It really makes you wonder how the products you use get here. I hope that the retirement party goes well and I'm sure that the chicken dish you prepared will be well received.

My grass didn't grow very much since my sister last mowed almost 3 weeks ago.  That said leaves have been falling off of the walnut tree.  I decided to mow yesterday, the first time for me in 130 days and wow did I get a workout.  I took my sister grocery shopping after that.  I did a lot of walking or should I say limping and both feet and knees let me know about it last night.  Short of doing my own grocery shopping today I've been taking it easy.

Hi Everyone!

It's sunny and warm today. We're taking advantage of the weather to cut grass and bag leaves. I'm searching for the Dyson attachment to dust the blinds.etc. in all those hard to reach places in the lower level. (I sure know how to have fun.LOL)

Birdmama---WOW!!! You did so much in one day. I know they say to "pace yourself" but I never mastered that "pacing" part. It's still a work in progress for me. Hope you get some rest.

LindaLatte---I have grocery shopping on Sunday's schedule. It's been one of those weeks. We gased up the cars yesterday. Gas $3.69/gallon which is 20cents lower than the usual price. I think our state is the second highest in gas prices. Crazy. UGH!!

I see today it's free shipping day. Nothing has tempted me....yet. I've been focused on getting the dog food supplies in the house so I don't have to worry (too much) about strikes or weather . I think I'm numb to price increases at this point weather it's for four paws or two feet.    

Prayers to all of those dealing with the aftermath of the hurricane and health issues.

Good Afternoon!  Please do take it easy today, Bernie.  I know several of us want to accomplish quite a bit in a day, but overdoing things can come back to bite you.  

I am very happy the strike has been postponed.  I tried to figure out if bananas would still be coming to West Coast ports.  While I didn't find the answer, I read that the majority come through those ports that were expected to be on strike.

Hi Fressa, your gasoline prices certainly seem higher than many.  The local prices are $3.35 a gallon, and I think that is higher than many areas.

Our weather continues to be ridiculously hot.  Many record highs are being broken.  It is already 101 degrees, and it is expected to make a bit higher.  In addition, the 100 degree plus temperatures are expected to last at least until Wednesday when they will be in the upper 90's.  It is cooler in the mornings, but is pretty hot by 8:00 a.m.

The retirement party for the hospice director went very well -- tons of food, flowers, and gifts.  She was pleased, but a bit weepy.  The Volunteer Coordinator and I spent most of the day setting up, assisting party goers, and cleaning up.  Both of us were pretty tired by the end. 

I had purchased some flowers for Bev, and took them to her after work.  She was pretty weak, and so far isn't happy with the hospice recommended by the doctor.  Long story, but it seems they are not well organized/staffed (no RN's that come to our area), plus hit her with making decisions that could have waited until later (like what she would do if she needed full-time care and didn't have someone to provide it in her home.)  She is giving them some time, but may change to a different hospice.  We have quite a few in the area in addition to the one where I volunteer.

DD still has not received any mail, and is waiting for roof repairs and estimates on repairs to the fence, etc.  The insurance company told them to get estimates for the work and file a claim if it were more than the deductible. 

i had my flu shot and went to the bank ATM afterwards.  Standing in line outdoors in the heat convinced me to go back home rather than do any shopping.

So far I have not found anything of interest here, but I check back now and again since I would like to have free shipping.  I have been spending quite a bit on parties, special donations, etc. so it would have to be something special.

Hi Everyone!

It's another warm and sunny day here. What a surprise ! It's been an oarnge breathing weekend sot that's the downside. That rating always knocks me off my feet but there are many other worse issues.I didn't have much energy so I did those little "things" that nag at you while you're usually doing the vacuuming. 

LindaLatte----Sorry to hear about your DD and the storm damage/isurance "mess". My bf in SC said that they got a ticket with an assigned number that listed when each damage item would be addressed. She said that dates assigned span many months even into their winter season. My heart aches for eveyone.

Glad to hear that the retirment party went well. Sorry to hear about Bev's accomodations but hopefully things will improve or another option will become available.

The only item that caught my eye on free shiping was JM body butter but then I remembered the one that was on back order since August. Not sure if I should cancel that one or order this one. I did order the set of Kuhn Rikon scissors. I have one set in use and we are always looking for them. It will be a treat mpt tp have to run up and down the stairs when you need to snip something.
