Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 17th)

I certainly remember what a big deal it was to have your boyfriend's ring, Glenda.  That never happened to me. but I was pretty envious of the girls who wore a ring on a chain around their neck.

Glad you have gotten approval for your shot and insurance will pay for that bill.  It is a very, very long story, but the drug benefits for my health insurance changed to Part D Medicare.  Supposedly, the drugs would cost less, etc.  That may happen, but I don't take many drugs with the exception of Prolia every six months.  Anyway, we (quite a few of my fellow retirees with the same insurance) suddenly received an unexpected bill for this coverage.  Some are trying to change back to the old plan, and others may wait until "open season" to do so.

Glad you made it to the gym and saw your friends who had gone on the cruise.  Nice that you will be playing bingo with your DH's Mom.  Good that she is doing well for someone her age.

The senior lunch program was busy today, but we had a new volunteer to help.  Very nice man whose wife passed away last Fall.  That was a pleasant surprise since my regular partner was off doing a different volunteer job.

Like you, I went to the gym today, and that went well.  I worked some more on Turbo Tax.  So far, so good.

I heard from Jean, and she is extremely pleased with her surgery.  She was having her last hospital PT today and going to a rehab facility later today.  She is very appreciative of everyone's thoughts and prayers.

Waves to Glenda, Fressa, Bernie, Susan, Barbara, and all of our posters and readers.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 17th)

I received some good news today.  "My" hospice patient who was supposed to have an amputation didn't have one after all.  They will be sending her back to the assisted living facility and working to provide more pain management.  Hope to see her briefly on Friday and have our regular visit on Monday.

Other good news is that Jean had her first extended PT today -- it was not easy, but she is doing her best.

We had a hospice volunteer meeting today, and after the meeting I went to two grocery stores and Walmart.  Since I'm trying to empty out my refrigerator as much as possible, I didn't buy much food that required refrigeration.  I also picked up a Rx and got cash from the ATM to pay the landscaper who will be spraying pre-emergent  weed killer when he has a chance. After lunch, I went to the hospice office and did some filing.  The volunteer coordinator looked good and said she is feeling okay.  I think she saw one of her doctors yesterday and will see another on Friday.

Hope everyone sleeps well.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 17th)

Hi Everyobe!

LindaLatte---What good news about your friend's amputation being cancelledd. Good news that the hospice coordinator was feeling back to normal. Good to hear that Jean is making progress.Progress at any speed is always good.

Today is another severe storm day so I've postponed the grocery shopping until tomorrow. Just as well as my "bad" knee was giving me some major issues this week. I'm thinking I probably over did it last week and the weather flips always bother it.At least...it gave me a chance to put my desk in order for when the final tax form arrives.

It's cloudy and raining with wind gusts and excessive rain in the forecast until 1AM. They are already predicting power outages. (that's a new approach). Thor is already upstairs with me so I hope he stays there. Ada could care less.

I did cave an order the L&L pitcher bowls w/ lids last night. I usually keep tomato sauce and canned tomatoes in a L&L in the refirg most weeks. It's my "go to" to add into dinner if it needs a little "something else". The pour spout is going to be great so I no longer have tomato sauce running down the side of the container. The price was crazy ($16)

Have a good afternoon/evening.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 17th)

Good Evening!  Hope the weather isn't as bad as what they predicted, Fressa.   I certainly don't blame you for postponing the grocery store run.  We had a nice day here -- high in the mid-60's and sunny.  It was a bit windy, but not too bad.

I had to look at the L&L set you ordered, and it looks like a great idea. I am trying to resist, but.....

Jean is happy with the food at the rehab facility.  She has no idea how long before she goes home, but isn't worried about it.

I went to the gym in the morning and saw a very strange sight.  A man was using lots of machines in his bare feet.  That is totally against the rules of the gym, and he also failed to wipe off the machines after use.  I considered saying something, but was concerned about a confrontation with a much larger man who I don't know.

After the gym, I took a nice (shortish walk).  Later in the afternoon, I had my OLLI class about the origins of the Civil War.  It is interesting that there were 15 people in the class and only four were women.  I know many older men have an intense interest in the Civil War, and there was a lively Q&A session.

Then, I went to the hospice office and picked up supplies.  I delivered most of them, but have one more for tomorrow.   I have my Tai Chi class, visit with one of my hospice patients (and probably will stop by the one who is back from the hospital) before I make that delivery.  Later, I will do filing, etc. at the hospice office.  Pretty much a hospice-full day.

Waves to Fressa, Bernie, Glenda, Susan, Barbara, and all of our posters and readers.

Sleep well everyone.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 17th)

Hi Everyone!

The sun is out and it's cool. YIPPEE!! We have a reprive on the rain and bad weather until Sunday evening.  Most of the snow and ice has melted which is always a good thing.

LindaLatte---The Civil War OLLI class sounds interesting. I always found history interesting. Good for the 4 women in the class.

I'm wondering if the gym has security cameras and maybe they're see that man who wasn't folowing the regulations. The staff should handle that and not a client. It is tempting because it's so inconciderate.

I'm not sure if I'll accomplish the grocery shopping today or not. I may do some minor decluttering in the laundry room. A few too many wicker baskets with dog towels an curtains waiting in line forr the washer. Trying to stream line some of those things in prep of installing new floors in that level. Still trying to pick paint colors for the upstairs and work up the energy to peel the last wallpaper in the kitchen and stairs.

Have a good afternoon.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 17th)

It's been a quiet around here in my neck of the woods.  Earlier this week I did the grocery shopping at the local Meijer shortly after it opened at 6 am, lol.  I was up, already drank a cup of coffee and had my list so I figured why not?  I usually shop with laser focus and stick to a list.  It was nice being able to browse in the store - felt like I had the place to myself.

The weather has been mild this week and we've had lots of sun.  I've enjoyed seeing the moon get fuller every night this week.  I think it's going to get chilly tomorrow and then get back into the 50's.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 17th)

Birdmama---Last night I kept hearing wind gusts and I thought it must be the forecasted Sunday night rain. I woke up to snow and really cold temps. (No wonder my knee was hurting...one of these days I'll get a "clue".LOL)  We got lucky that nothing glazed over with ice. Today it's cold but sunny. I still moved a few planters to the front porch to anchor down the rugs. The wind has been picking up the edges of them. The convert a benchs are on them but they were still fliping up on the corners. That's a first. Hopefully, this will solve the problem.

My bf loves to shop as soon as the grocery store opens. I'm more of an afternoon person but I would love to have a less crowed store.

Have a good afternoon.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 17th)

Good Afternoon/Evening!  My DD often shops early in the morning, Bernie.  She likes it when she does due to the reduced crowds, etc.  Glad you have had nice weather.

Happy you didn't get any ice, Fressa.  But, cold winds are not fun.

They are getting cameras for the gym, but they are not there just yet except at the exits.  I spoke to one of the staff when I was leaving, and he told me that if I saw that (barefooted exercisers, etc.) again, that I should go to the office and they would take care of it.  Unfortunately, the man had left before I did.

I was very happy to have "my" hospice patient back from the hospital after nine days, especially since she didn't have the amputation.  However, I found out that she still has a serious problem with gangrene, but decided not to have the surgery and just go back to the assisted living facility.  The surgeon told her that there was a very good chance she would not survive the surgery, and she decided it was better just to go back on hospice.  She is getting a lot of pain medication, and told me that she has trouble staying awake.

She was very happy to see me, and we had a nice chat.

The other patient I visited is increasingly saying things like she wants to get her car and drive away.  So, I'm concerned about her as well -- she is probably having hallucinations and sleeping a lot.

After the visits, I did some work at the hospice office and came home to take a walk -- I'm happy that it stays light later these days since I don't like walking after dark.

Today I went to the thrift shop where my former partner at the senior lunch program is working on Saturday.  After dropping off some donations, I went in to see her, and she told me that she is so tired that she is sleeping at least 12 hours a day and has no energy.  So, she is taking off a month at that job and seeing her doctor.

Not a lot of good health news around here.  I consider myself extremely fortunate to be as healthy as I am at this age.

Waves to Fressa, Bernie, Glenda, Susan, Barbara, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone sleeps well.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 17th)

I am trying to keep up with all of you, but I had an exhausting week.🤔🤔🤔

Fressa, last week I put on nail polish #2.  It was kind of a pretty coral.  This morning I put on a lavender color. Nice too, but I  put on two coats.  They don't have a name color, so I am not quite sure what Warm Whispers, I'm yours, & Close to Me are.  The other 3 are Please Me, Dancing with a Stranger & I Beg your Pardon.  Lots of fun for $2.00 though.

Bird Mama, we got a dusting of snow a couple of days ago.  Needed a lot more as we are in a drought.   We have been in the 50's-60's.  We are supposed to be 65° tomorrow and tornado warning on Tuesday.  The last tornado did $4.2 M & has devastated a lot of farm families.  The lost a lot of buildings, animals and a few homes.

Linda L,  sorry about your insurance plan charging for your prolia shot.  My dh had to pay $20 per month last year for his rx plan.  This year it is free   but mine went up $20 per month.   I have two expensive ones🤔🤔🤔

My infusion went good on Monday, but it takes me a couple of days to recover from tiredness.  No big deal.  I am thankful that they are  still effective after 22 years. Lunch out was my treat.

Wednesday with my mil did not happen.  They had a meeting in the BINGO room.  We went to her room and she had a bad stomach ache and slept most of the time we were there.

My dh saw his opthomoligist on Thursday and we took a step backwards.  The eye scan showed liquid in the right eye again so we are back on the nine week injection plan instead of the 12 weeks we were hoping for.   Both eyes have  cataracts which are a bit worse.

The good news is that my labs/2 Dr. follow up appts. on Friday went well.   My new rheumatologist is retiring so I will have one less Dr. to visit.

I got a call on Friday saying that my gel injection in my right knee was approved so I am getting it this Friday morning.  Hopefully it's not as bad as the cortisone shots have been & It works.  Hopefully I am in the 10% that get  good results from it.

The hot tub was so nice.  I am going to have a lazy day to get my head back on straight.

Tomorrow I am going to get a call from a pharmD guy to talk about me going off/staying on Xarelto.   It's pretty much a "keep taking it."   I don't ever want to have PE again.  He is a nice guy and knows what he is talking about.

W are planning a two weeks road trip at the  beginning of May  so it should work out fine.  My great nephew from S. IL will be graduating from HS & quite likely going to an Aeronautical College in FL.   He has been in ROTC for 4 years already, so I think he is well prepared for what comes next.  It will be a fun graduation party.

Hugs to all of you.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 17th)

twinny70-----You are so busy with all of your health appointments. I wish I could get back into my routine. Hopefully, I'll feel motivated in March. Crossing my fingers . Sorry your DH took a step backwards with his eyes. Insurance coverage is so tricky and it seems to change yearly regardless of your options. I'm still scratching my head about my prescription problem .

Today is sunny and a bit cool. Tuesday and Wednesday are heavy storms with rain and cold temps and possiblle flooding. This all should be snow. UGH!! Still it could always be worse.

Congrats to your great  nephew. What an accomplishment!!

Have a good afternoon.
