Hi girls! Well, it seems like we went from summer to winter overnight - it's COLD out there!
Temps are only in the 40s, and there's a frost warning for tonight. I guess I'll just putter around the house; I was going to go to Earth Fare for my Stevia soda before the sale ends on Tuesday, but for some reason the pension I get from my late husband that's supposed to be paid on the 1st isn't showing up yet, nor is my SS; usuallywhen the 3rd is on a weekend, they pay at midnight on Friday, but since neither is there it's probably something to do with my bank. Oh well... Then again, I could always write checks, as they won't clear before the money is in Monday... I need gas, but Walmart lets you get $20 in cash if you write a check; it's down to $2.54 a gallon.
LindaR, sorry you didn't sleep well; I had a bad night as well. Since it was so cold out I brought the dogs in; Honeybun slept next to the bed, but Autumn jumped right up on it, so it was a battle for space.
Well, let me tell you...all night long that dog was passing the worst gas you could imagine - it was totally disgusting!
It was so bad it would wake me up! I tried spraying Lysol, but that didn't help much. In desperation I tried putting Vicks under my nose, as I've read in mystery novels that homicide detectives and coroners and such do so to mask the smell of rotting bodies. Yeah, well...apparently Autumn's clouds of stench are worse than a decomposing corpse, as it didn't help one bit. I wish I could remember what canned food I fed them yesterday, as I'd avoid buying it in the future.
When I get a clogged drain I pour in a few ounces of baking soda, followed by a couple of cups of vinegar, cover the drain, and let it do it's thing - it works all the time
I try to do it as preventative maintenance once in a while as well...when I remember to.
Jean, that snow looks beautiful, but I sure wouldn't want to have to go out in it! Hope you're feeling better. My friend sent me some Vitamin B12 that you put under your tongue; she swears it gives you a lot more energy. I'll let you know if it works.
Gayle, I exchange gifts with very few people - three cousins, and two good friends; my BFF doesn't observe holidays, so we send each other packages "just because" throughout the year. I also send one of my famous rum cakes to my "adopted big brother" and a gift to my pastor in Hawaii, just because I love them. I pick up gifts (Christmas and birthday) throughout the year as I see things I think people will like, that way I'm not slammed all at once.
Twinny, I hope things get easier for you - I can imagine how exhausted you must be. Praying for you.
Hi Rosa! Hope you're doing well!
Marijane, I've never had a kid come to the door trick or treating since I moved here. When I lived in the apartment building there were no children living there, and it seems that trunk or treat is more popular around here, which is fine with me - I'd rather not be bothered with that day. In fact, I didn't see a single kid in costume when I was out yesterday, apart from one from down the street whom I try to avoid because she's a trouble-maker, and all she had on were some sort of ears.
Well, I guess I'll spend some time with the cozy I started last night, then get some more cleaning done.
Have a blessed day, everyone!

Marijane--You are so correct; it has begun as far as winter is concerned. I'd rather see the rays of sunshine and warmer temperatures.
Twinny--That is quite a bargain on the GILI bag. I haven't been tempted by them but the price point with the discount makes it more tempting. Enjoy your dinner out; you deserve it!
Arlene--I far prefer "just because" gifts to buying a Christmas gift because we are supposed to do so at that time. I think "just because" are far more appreciated as they are received at unexpected times.
Midnight and I shared the bed while I read my Kindle until I decided it was getting too cold in the bedroom. I was trying to conserve on the heat but comfort is comfort and I am very cold natured. For that reason, I love Summer as I'm comfortable. I put another blanket on the bed and am now have one of those Berkshire throws on me as I type and watch TV.
A friend in Ashville, NC posted a pic on FB of the snow they received which was more than we got, and they are south of us.

Good Afternoon/Evening! Thank goodness I don't need to deal with snow out here in Arizona. Well, we did have some a couple of years ago. But, it was a pretty light dusting, and melted quickly. I'm definitely a fan of warm rather than cold. And, I can tolerate hotter temperatures than some -- especially if it is a dry heat.
We are having cooler weather today, and our temperatures are expected to continue their downward spiral next week. I think it might not even make it to 70 degrees on Monday. Still that beats a lot of temperatures in the East.
Hope your new coat fits well Jean. I find DB coats are very nice and warm. Also hope you feel better/stronger soon and stay warm.
Sorry you didn't sleep well LindaR. I did pretty well last night, since DH is sleeping better. I seem to deal with slow drains quite a bit. Glad you were able to get your drain unclogged.
I don't have any great advice for you Gayle, but I think it is a good idea just to tell people your plans. For the past few years, my DD and family are the only ones who receive Christmas gifts from me. DH is impossible to buy for, and I usually buy things for him when he needs/wants them rather than waiting for an occasion. Glad you were able to find some jeans at Kohl's. I always wanted gift cards, but rarely received them. LOL
The bluegrass festival sounds fun twinny. Hope you are able to reduce eyedrop duty after your Tuesday visit.
Hi Marijane -- your DH must be a big fan to watch the game on the computer. I have done that, but I prefer the TV since it is easier for me to do something else at the same time. Sorry no kids came, and your weather isn't nice.
I know lots of people do it, but I have never slept with my pets Arlene. That odor must have been awful.
Waves to Kathleen, Rosa, Susan. Kelli, Karen, Nancy, Sonya, Kathy, and all of our posters and readers.
DH went for our "regular" (40 minutes plus) walk with me this morning. That was a surprise. I think he is feeling pretty good. He did take a nap when I went out to the bank, etc.
Usual laundry and financial stuff today, and I did some much-needed cleaning earlier.
Hope everyone has a nice evening!
Hugs,
Linda

Linda--I'm happy to see you check in and that DH was able to go on a walk with you in your beautiful weather. On the issue of Christmas gifts, our family never went overboard with it. I know there are some who buy several gifts for an individual and I know there are those who go together and buy one nice family gift. I always thought it was interesting when some parents would spend major bucks on toys but the children would end up playing with the simpler things. Whatever, I don't think individuals should be paying for Christmas several months into the new year.
Since I decided to get the coat, I went into my order status and cancelled a jewelry item on advanced purchase that I had planned to be part of my Christmas from me to me. The coat is more practical and a better use of the money.

Gayle - Our family no longer exchanges gifts among the adults, we do give gifts to the nieces, they are 8 & 9. My mom & dad do not send Christmas cards out, they emailed everyone and told them they will send a donation to the Humane Society in the local area instead. This was okay with all of us since we buy what we want anyways. Hope this helps.
