Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME. (Monday, June 2nd)

Good Evening!  Another dry, hot day here (high of 102).  It wasn't too bad on my walk, thank goodness.

I visited my former hospice patient who was asleep most of the time.  Her roommate greeted me in Spanish, and I hope that I replied okay.

Had an early lunch at made it to the Sheriff's Auxiliary in plenty of time.  Another new volunteer and our trainer stayed for a while since there were several things undone due to a staff meeting and a long-winded visitor.

It wasn't too busy after they left, which was good for me.  And, the people I spoke with were very kind when I told them that I was new and asked them to bear with me.

I was surprised when people started showing up for a board meeting -- turned out they were from the thrift store and just used our meeting room.  They needed help with a microphone, and fortunately the supervisor was able to help them.

Found out  that I need to find another volunteer to cover my shift when I am on vacation next month (two days).  Hope that I am successful in doing so.

Waves to Barbara, Fressa, Bernie, Susan, Glenda, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone sleeps well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME. (Monday, June 2nd)

Good morning ladies, hope all is well.

Linda - Your new volunteer job sounds interesting.  I think it is something I would enjoy.  Please send some of your nicer weather my way, it has been so rainy and cloudy the plants and flowers are giving up. I am sorry your DD had to pay so much at one time, sometimes you wonder why you have insurance.

Barbara - Sorry to hear about your fall, do hope you are okay.

Bernie - Glad you got to bury Presto in the yard.  How are the wildflowers doing?  I was going to try that here but, the weather has been so yucky with not sun and a lot of rain I did not even bother.  Oh yeah, of course the squirrels love to dig in my planters that I do have flowers in.  I have to fill in the holes this wee.

We went to youngest granddaughters highschool graduation in MD over the weekend.  Of course, on the way home it rained and it flooded the turnpike and we sat for two hours while they cleared the road.  I hate to drive the turnpike when it rains.

Last night we lost our dog, she had cancer and now is over the Rainbow Bridge with her sisters and brothers.  Now DH and I have to get used to a new routine here.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME. (Monday, June 2nd)

Hi Everyone!

I had some kind of "bug" that got the best of me for almost a week.UGH!!! Today I feel that I've turned the corner on whatever that was.

Our weather has been heavy rain, storms and then sun. It doesn't get as hot here as in some of your states. I think I would melt. I so better with th e ice and snow.

PALady--I'm so sorry that your dog died. That is always a difficult time.

Sydsgma1--Glad to hear that you had such a nice visit with Sydnie. It's such a treat to  see your child/children do well.

Birdmama---It is such a worry with the wildfires and how the wildlife survive. We were excited to see the largest of the woodpeckers return yesterday to our big tree. There's at least 3 varieties around here. Always a good thing to see them.

LindaLatte--I'm crossing my fingers that you find a person to fill in for your vacation time. That's certainly a different approach to the schedule. It sounds like you have quite the list of duties for a volunteer job. So nice that the people are pleasant. That really does make a difference in the work place.

Thanks for the update on Jean. Glad that her pt is progressing.

have a good afternoon/evening.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME. (Monday, June 2nd)

Sorry that I'm late getting back to the thread.

Linda @LindaLatte  I bought 2 Aqua Joe hoses from Amazon a couple of years ago.  I probably paid about 40 bucks per hose.

AQUA JOE 5/8 in. Dia x 50 ft. Hybrid Polymer Flex Kink Free Hose ...

Amazon describes it this way:  Aqua Joe 50 foot professional grade garden hose with dual swivel grenade grips, kink free and abrasion resistant flexible hybrid polymer.

You know Amazon, they can't name it something simple which is why I provided a picture.

I chose this hose because I wanted a hose that was drinking water safe.  I fill water sources for birds and wildlife and I didn't want to poison anybody, lol.

Oh no Susan @PAlady  I am so sorry that you lost Laverne.  I remember that you mentioned near the end of last year that she wasn't feeling good.  At the time I think that you hands were full with your husband recovering from a slight stroke.

My wildflowers are in pots and planters and the roll and grow wildflower blanket product is slow going but I see sprouts.

I also used what I thought was expired wildflower mix from Pennington.

That's taking off like crazy.

Again, I know this doesn't help with the grief - Laverne was so treasured by you and your husband and I'm confident that she's telling everybody on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge about you both.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME. (Monday, June 2nd)

Barbara @sydsgma1  I'm so sorry that you fell down.  Yea we all know better and then sometimes we forget.  My roof has been replaced for almost a month now.  When the guys came to deliver all of the supplies the Friday before the job was going to start I was talking to the delivery guy and he handed me a clipboard with a form that I needed to sign.  I don't like it to look like I wrote my name with my feet and I knew that trying to hold the clipboard with my left hand and signing my long full name was going to look sloppy.

Since I broke my foot I really have no shame.  I said, wait a minute and I sat down on my fanny in the driveway.  Now when I say that I sat down I'm talking like a toddler - kinda on all 4s and then you sit. The clipboard was in my lap, signature came out looking normal and I handed the clipboard to the guy.  He extended his hand to pull me up and I said no no hun, I got it.  And I got up like a toddler.

I still have to watch how I manipulate and put pressure on my ankle and foot and yea I look awkward but I avoid injury.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME. (Monday, June 2nd)

@Fressa  It's hard the wildlife near me this summer because the local school system is finally doing something with the big school behind my house.  Trees were taken down, all the ground was clawed up and they are putting in tennis courts and I think 2 baseball diamonds?  This disturbed every bird and small animal that grazed in the field and lived in the trees.  The geese don't know what to do.  The excavation equipment has been going since the end of January.

I thought I read that they are using artificial turf so there goes a food source for much of the land.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME. (Monday, June 2nd)

Birdmama---That's a shame how there is no regard for the wildlife. I swear none of them have any common sense.  Around here....they "expanded" the building of town homes into the park area which disturbed the wildlife that have no place to go. It must not be the only "park" area that has been "revised" judging by the wildlife posts from the townships further away.  Everytime they post a" wildlife watch post "it makes me question what's up. I didn't think that coyotes and bear moved around that much once they had established an area they could find shelter and food. I have more questions and concerns than answers. I didn't expect this in the suburbs.

They did the artificial turf  in the next township to us. They demolished the school and playyard and put in a huge m;ulti court area.  I think there are plans for a larger school in the next few years. They claimed it was more expensive to add on to the existing school than build a new one. I'm not buying that one but at least I don't have to pay tax on that one.
