SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME. (Monday, June 2nd)

Good Morning!  It was cloudy this morning, and there was a threat of rain.  But, the rain did not happen.  Yesterday, we had record amounts of rain -- less than half an inch, but that was a record since June is usually our hottest and driest month.  We will have cooler than usual weather for a couple of days, but the 100 degree highs and dry weather are predicted to be here later in the week.

My walk was nice this morning.  You can really tell that most of our "winter visitors" have left since there is very little traffic in the early morning.

Today is my first on-the-job training at the Sheriff's Auxiliary, and I'm pretty excited.

I like Renee's pants, but do not care for the length on these nor the lack of pockets in the TSV.  Probably a good thing since I already have more than enough pants.

Jean posted on FB that she is headed to the orthopedist today.

Waves to Barbara (belated Happy Birthday to Mollie), Fressa, Bernie, Susan, Glenda, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone has a nice day.  Please post if you have a chance.

Hugs,

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME. (Monday, June 2nd)

Hi Everyone!

LindaLatte---Thanks for the update on Jean.

How was your first day as a Sheriff's Auxilary? It sounds interesting.

I couldn't tolerate those high temps but I know that many prefer them. The weather out west really agreed with my system the best. The east is second best for me. It can always be worse.

Today is the first day without rain in the forecast. Hi temp of 80 during the day but dipping down into the 40/30's at night. UGH!!! I wish it would just level off so I wasn't fussing with the a/c.

I did treat myself and ordered Renee's TSV. I like the 86/14 pant because of the fit around my knee. I'm hoping they fit as well as the full length ones. I do miss the pocket.

I finally saw the young doe yesterday. I hope she still  has others with her in the woods.. The township has some of the wildlife somewhat displaced with their construction in the parks and wooed areas I have my fingers crossed that the chyotes

don't visit.

Have a good afternoon/evening.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME. (Monday, June 2nd)

Good Afternoon/Evening!

Jean said her orthopedist visit was very successful.  The doctor said that her range of motion is quite a bit better than others who have had the same sort of injury.  She has another appointment in a month.

One of DD's dogs was sick yesterday, but the vet gave her antibiotics, etc., and she is fine now.  The vet said she probably got into something in the yard.

DD's house insurance went way up this year -- probably related to the hurricane in her area.  At least the insurance company did not drop houses in the area as I understand they have in some parts of the country.

Hope the pants you ordered work out for you, Fressa.  Those are certainly some crazy temperature swings.

There is a lot to learn about the Sheriff's Auxiliary job, but I think that I will enjoy it.  The front desk leader provided me with a checklist which she is in the process of revising.  She said it was a good time to learn since we are not as busy this time of the year. But, we were certainly busy yesterday (in my opinion). Another lady will be training me on Thursday.

I visited one of my former hospice patients later in the afternoon, but she was sound asleep almost the whole time.  I will be glad when I can visit her earlier next week.

The senior lunch program director told me that the menu will stay the same (we have a monthly menu).  I still am confused, but I think the changes will be more with ordering and delivery.  We have two student "interns" this month, and both seem pretty fast learners and willing to work.

Hope everyone sleeps well.

Good afternoon..it is another lovely day. Sydnie left a little while ago

We had such a great visit. Lots of great conversations. She is so competent...besides working this summer, she will be teaching English to adult learners, shadowing at a couple of hospitals, modeling.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME. (Monday, June 2nd)

Good Evening!  Glad you had such a nice visit with Sydnie, Barbara.  Sounds like she has a very busy summer ahead.  Hope the PT helps.

I went to lunch with the neighborhood ladies yesterday, and my lunch was pretty good.  But, the restaurant is changing hands, and they do not have their act together at all.  It took quite a while for  most of our food to arrive, and two of the ladies only received her food as the rest of us were leaving. (Both ended up taking their food home.)  I don't think we will be returning until things are settled.

The grocery store had a good price on grapes, but not much else on my list.  I treated myself to some asparagus, just because I am into treating myself these days. LOL  Walmart was pretty crowded and took a while, so I skipped Sprouts -- probably will go tomorrow or Saturday.

I left pretty early for my walk this morning (6:15 or so), and discovered water coming out of the utility closet and back door.  I suspected the water heater was leaking, and confirmed it before calling the plumber.  The receptionist said she would call the dispatcher who would call me.  About an hour into my walk, he called and said he would check to see if his crew could fit me in today.

I was closer to home when he called back to say that they would be there in 10 minutes to see what was happening.  And, I barely made it into the house when a plumber showed up.  He and his partner had been her last November, and he is extremely nice. Anyway, he said that I needed a new water heater, and he arranged to change his appointments so that it could be installed today.

I had my second on-the-job training day at the Sheriff's Auxiliary today.  I really liked the trainer (another Linda), and she had me sit at the desk and greet people.  We had several people who came in to have their fingerprints done, but only one call (wrong number), and one unrelated visitor (turned out to be a long story).

Hopefully, I will remember all the steps, computer, etc., etc.

I came home to find the plumbers were already here and had been able to start on the hot water heater.  I had to pay $100 extra for "emergency" service, but I think it is well worth it not to have to do without hot water for a day or more longer.

Waves to Barbara, Fressa, Bernie, Susan, Glenda, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone sleeps well.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME. (Monday, June 2nd)

Hello all,

I'm glad that you had a great visit with Sydnie @sydsgma1

@LindaLatte  you are going to be an asset to the sheriff's department.  Your training sounds interesting.

@Fressa I look forward to hearing about your pants.  I've tried Renee's past line - Effortless Style by Citiknits and had many of tops.  I've always been curious about her pants and one of these days I need to try them on special.

Glad Jean is healing and making great progress.

Presto passed away in January and the ground was hard so I kept her refrigerated until Monday and finally buried her in the small pet cemetery that I have in the backyard.  I'm trying to grow wildflowers in planters and pots and did that on Tuesday.  The air quality was foul yesterday and today and I stayed inside; I can taste fire and my eyes burn in SE Michigan and can't imagine how folks closer to the Canadian border are faring.

My wildlife was active yesterday - today not so much.  We had rain and humidity and I think the air was almost too heavy for them to rip and run like they usually do.  I think about the wildlife affected by the fires and my heart breaks.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME. (Monday, June 2nd)

Good Afternoon/Evening from hot Arizona -- it is already 97 degrees and the high is expected to be 102.  They are predicting temperatures in the 100's at least until next Friday when it is "only" supposed to reach the upper 90's.

Seems like a lot of areas are having storms and/or poor air quality.  Hope it isn't too bad where you live.

I had a nice visit with my former hospice patient yesterday, and then picked up a few things from Sprouts.  It was pretty hot, and I didn't do much else outside of the house.  The same for today.  I did do a little much needed car washing this morning, but not the full job due to the sun/heat.

Laundry is finished (except for ironing), and I have compiled the information for my weekly financial review.

So far, I have not found anything that I wanted here despite the free S&H.  Some things looked interesting until I read the reviews.

DD told me that her "co-pay" for an ER visit (including a CT scan) was $4000 -- that took care of most of her deductible, but wow!

I know you have done a lot of shopping for household items, Bernie.  Do you have any recommendations for a garden hose?  I have looked at a large number of them on-line ("A", Lowe's, Home Depot, Ace, etc.), and many had issues like kinking and/or leaking.

Waves to Bernie, Fressa, Barbara, Susan, Glenda, and all of our posters and readers.  Hope everyone sleeps well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME. (Monday, June 2nd)

Good Sunday afternoon. I will be going to have dinner a little later with the family.

it is a cool, drizzly day. V4 is playing baseball and V3 is running a football camp .

i managed to fall on Friday at a grocery store. I dropped an item and when I tried to pick it up down I went. My replaced knee took the brunt of it. The fire department got me up. Vyrn and Vanessa rescued me with Vanessa driving me home. She did a great job.

the fall makes me angry because I know better.

Linda..that is a lot of out of pocket for your dd. I think M has the same. A comment on your hose... because of the heat, we used a 10 foot and never coiled it up. We never watered our many cacti and my few pots , I used a watering can. Our landscape was rocks.enjoy your job this week.

Hugs to all of our readers and posters.🤗🤗

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ONE DAY AT A TIME. (Monday, June 2nd)

Good Afternoon!  So sorry about your fall, Barbara.  Glad Vyrn and Vanessa were able to rescue you.  Hope you enjoy the afternoon with them.

Thanks for your comments about the hose.  I do not do much watering -- actually very little since I have a stone yard and cactus.  I water a few potted plants on my front patio with a watering can, and on rare occasions water some plants in the front yard.

The hose idea came up when the plumbers wanted to use my hose to drain the old water heater.  The nozzle was stuck on the hose, and it was not usable.  So, they had to get a hose from their truck.  This is not the first time workers needed a hose, so I decided to shop for one.

Another dry, hot day here.  My walk and church were good, and I am headed to the gym this afternoon.   Nothing exciting.

Waves to Barbara, Bernie, Fressa, Susan, Glenda, and all of our posters and readers.

Hope everyone has a nice evening.
