Re: SHOPAHOLICS ON DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, September 7th)

Fortunately, it wasn't a phishing issue, Barbara.

According to what I have been reading, it was a widespread breach (estimated to be over 270 million Americans) of something called -- nationalpublicdata.com which does background checks.  Hackers managed to get in and put the data on the "dark web".  Experts suggest that you freeze accounts with the three credit bureaus (so no one can open new accounts without you knowing) and monitor all of your accounts (Experian, TransUnion, and Equafax) plus all of your financial accounts.

Part of my problem is that all three credit bureaus are being swamped with inquiries from people in the same boat.  I have been able to establish that the freeze I have on two of them is still present.  But, the third has been too busy.  I remember putting the freeze on quite a few years ago after a breach of  my pension, one of the credit bureaus, on and on, but this is the first time my social security number is out there.

It was pretty nice on my walk this morning and the senior lunch program went well.

Hope everyone is having a nice day.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ON DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, September 7th)

LindaLatte---What a mess with that breach. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get some relief sooner than later. No matter how careful a person is it seems the "bad guys" are two steps ahead of the situation. Still...you had good progress with two out of three.

We have a bit of a heat wave (for us) this week but it does cool down at night. At least the a/c slows down running so mcuh at that time.

I have two crocus flowers blooming this week so that's my signal that Fall is coming. The leaves haven't really turned on most of the trees. Our grass is starting to grow but I'm not sure if we have enough time left to plant the other half.

Have a good afternoon.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ON DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, September 7th)

Good Evening!  I hope your weather turns cooler soon, Fressa.  They are predicting a high of 99 degrees here tomorrow -- at least it will be out of the 100's like we have had for the past few days.  The mornings are pretty nice, which makes walking more pleasant.

After spending way too much time answering automated questions on the phones yesterday, the third credit bureau said that I needed to mail in a form with some documents.  I have it ready to mail, and plan to do so tomorrow.  Today was pretty much devoted to grocery shopping and other household tasks.

A few bargains on produce and OJ, but nothing exciting.  I picked up some more food for the hospice food bank drive.  We are doing great -- after two weeks, we have collected 172 pounds of food and nearly $100.  Hope we can collect some more this month.

Not sure if I shared it, but my friend Bev is having more problems.  Her pain medicine was causing severe nausea and vomiting, so she decided to give it up a couple of nights ago.  But, her energy level is still very low (probably because of the hemoglobin issue).  And, then there is the psychological issue of waiting to hear the results of her biopsy.  I am sure that she would appreciate your good thoughts.

Meanwhile, I heard from Jean, and she had quite a day yesterday.  The fun part was going out for a very nice lunch at Outback. And, her grocery pick-up went fine.

She went to the eye doctor and will be getting new eyeglasses.  Her cataract operation made distance vision good, but she needs readers.  Taking the glasses off and on is a pain, so she is trying lenses that can handle both.  Not sure if they are progressives or bifocals.

The cardiologist appointment was concerning.  Her AFib has caused congestive heart failure.  Basically, her heart is pumping oxygenated blood at 35 percent of its capacity so the body doesn't get its needed oxygen. The seriousness of this depends on several factors including activity or even the altitude. She will go back in six weeks.

In the meantime, the cardiologist will be checking to see how someone in another health facility made a mistake on a med change while she was there.  Also, she has to check her vitals daily and send them to her cardiology practice.

I really hope that we hear something from Glenda soon, and that Barbara, Bernie, and any others who are having health issues feel better soon.  How is your Mom doing, Susan?

Waves to all of our posters and readers and sleep well.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ON DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, September 7th)

I don't have anything exciting to report.  I've transitioned from the medium compression to light compression knee stockings.  Even though I could only tolerate the medium compression stockings for 8 -9 hours a day for the week that I wore them, they did wonders with the crazy swelling that I was experiencing on the top of my foot.  I gotta tell you, I know where they went in surgically to insert the screws - under the ankle bone on the outside of the foot.  They must have twisted my foot in really unnatural positions during the procedure because I've experienced swelling in the strangest areas.

The light compression stocking is pretty comfortable however there are days when my right foot just wants to be nekkid or in a loose non compression stocking after a couple of hours.  I listen to the foot and give it what is asks for to keep the peace overall Woman Very Happy

We're having a mild warming trend here.

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ON DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, September 7th)

Good Morning!  Glad you were able to make the transition to light compression socks, Bernie.  You never know what side issues might happen during surgery.

They revised the weather forecast so now we are expecting a high of 100 degrees.  At least it was nice on my walk this morning, and tomorrow's high is "only" supposed to be 96 degrees.

I will be helping out at the hospice office this afternoon, so I plan to go to the gym this morning.

One of the three credit bureaus sent an email this morning saying that there was a fraud alert on my account, and that I could find more information on one of my bank's website.  I tried, but no dice, so I called them.  Answered the usual ton of questions, but amazingly reached a representative.  She looked up all the background and assured me that it was the same breach that I had heard about.  Also, my account freeze is in place, and no one has tried to access my credit.  Whew!

Waves to Bernie, Fressa, Barbara, Susan, Glenda (praying for you), and all of our posters and readers.

Hugs,

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ON DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, September 7th)

Good Morning/Afternoon!  Happy that our weather is turning somewhat cooler -- high of 96 degrees predicted, and it was in the upper 60's - low 70's on my walk this morning.  And, they are predicting cooler weather for the next week.

Jean posted on FB that she was finally able to get her regular shoes back on yesterday.  Ever since her knee surgery in mid-July, that has not been possible.  Hope you can say the same in the not-too-distant future, Bernie.  Although it sounds like you may need to wear a different size.

My DGD got some pretty good news from her urologist -- no kidney problems.  Before prescribing new medication or treatments, they want her to have a cystoscopy.  No idea when that might happen, but....

Yesterday evening, I received a message that my e-mail password had been leaked to the "dark web".  So frustrating to have to keep updating my password and tracking down all these breaches to the dark web. At least I am notified when it happens.

I don't have any exciting plans for the day -- I will visit my favorite hospice patient and then spend time in the office.  I was able to make my supply deliveries yesterday afternoon.

Waves to Bernie, Fressa, Barbara, Susan, Glenda and all of our posters and readers.

Please post when you have a chance.

Hugs,

Linda

Re: SHOPAHOLICS ON DAY AT A TIME (SATURDAY, September 7th)

I drove my car for the first time in 110 days Woman Happy  The doctor cleared me to drive 18 days ago - I wasn't ready then.  I never exited the vehicle and hit up the ATM and BK drive through for a double cheeseburger and onion rings.
