SGH,
ITA....brings back memories of my clothes when I was 6 years old. I don't want to dress like that again.
@DREAMONEven then I thought it looked cheap. I ask my Mother to please not put that on my clothes. Of course, I didn't know what the word cheap meant but I just didn't like it. Good to see you
I'm with you. My mom sewed for me too, and she used WAY too much rick rack. Then for some unGodly reason, I used rick rack when I sewed for my sons as babies and toddlers. I have definitely had it with rick rack!

LOVE IT! My all time favorite white stovepipe pants were white pique with red rick rack trim. Stovepipes were skinny pants. The pants had a matching crop I was a teen, so this had to be the mid 60s.

@silkyk a really bad choice if you are going to have a cat on your lap .![]()

@silkykbeat me to it but I was going to bring up the use of the pom pom trim (again!)
What's next? Decorative patches?

No Way!
I remember being a child and having it on my dresses and clothing. Then, when I 'grew up' I was surprised to see it on adult clothing. No thank you. I left that behind. Don't like rick rack on adult female clothing.

Yay.
Loved it way back then and love it now in small amounts, such as on the cuff of a long sleeve sewn on the wrong side and just peeking out. Same with the neckline, and that can take the place of a necklace.

I also remember it on the clothes my mom sewed for me. I didn't really like it then. I would not wear it now. I can still picture clearly in my mind my mom sewing at the machine in her bedroom. Mom passed away in 2012.

This topic got me thinking ...(at times that can be dangerous!)
I have a denim shirt I bought to embellish ... and I found the patterns for crocheted rickrack ... and I have a bunch of metallic yarn ...
