Maybe she thought you'd grow into them.

That sounds like that could be heard around the house as we grew up. LOL

Re: Retirement Clothes! 😬

When I retired the first thing I did was donate all my "Wall Street clothes" to charity.  Even though I live in Manhattan, I would have no need to keep/wear office clothes.  (If I recall ... it was 12 bags of clothes that I took to the Goodwill store.)
My personal style really hasn't changed much over the years. (I don't do trends, and only wear certain colors.  My entire wardrobe is mix and match.)

Please help me out here! Lol... kidding, kind of! I have TONS of clothes that I will not need anymore... after I retire from the city. I've got many sisters ... but most that have retired before me and do not need my clothes. Tons of nieces that do not need my clothes. Maybe just donate to a local company, which I most likely will do.

I have bought so much from the Q over the years that I could probably buy a house! 😬 What have I done?! 🤪 QVC has served me well! 🥰

Sad to say but most donated clothes end up in landfills.

they do?

@smoochy.  Many are sold by the pound and recycled into new fabric,  which is sad if the clothing is great quality in good condition.  What a waste.

OK, so now I have a question.  What do women in business wear now?

Re: Retirement Clothes! 😬

In my area the Salvation Army has a very clean and popular resale shop, a shelter, and programs where hey offer food and clothing, and also help people start moving upward.  They have an excellent reputation and they haven't refused clothing we take to them yet.  Woman LOL

Clothing, household, furniture, it is one stop donating!

I wore scrubs uniforms when I worked. The day I retired I pitched them, woo hoo how free I felt! Then I bought a tee shirt that said Every Day Is Saturday.

I never have to dress up and thats fine with me.

@RedTop  That's one of the main reasons I kept my work clothes after I retired. Their quality was excellent. Even though I bought many of my suits and separates from Talbots, the quality of Talbots' current merchandise can't hold a candle to what I had.
