I would not buy a raincoat without a detachable hood.

I don't like sweaters, jackets, bath robes, coats, sweatshirts with hoods unless they are detachable.

A rain coat or winter outerwear absolutely needs a hood for me.  A dress coat is the exception.  If I'm shopping I sure don't want to lug a dripping umbrella around the store.  I also like hoodies and hooded sweatshirts.  I am a fan of the hood.

Raincoat WITH a hood, definitely. Otherwise, it's useless as a raincoat. NO hoods on any other coats, however.

I live in the PNW, if it doesn't have a hood it's useless.  Only rarely does it get cold and stay dry, so a hoodless winter coat would be on the sidelines nearly all the time.  Even my wool coats have hoods on them.

I purchased two Dennis Basso raincoats, one in tan and one in blue, each with a detachable hood, many years ago.    I still wear them.  I wear each with and without the hood, depending on my mood.

Don't ask me why I bought it cuz it makes no sense to me not to have a hood to protect me from the rain since I don't own/wear hats....and the days of my mom's little foldable plastic rain bonnet seem to be gone.

Not keen on having a soaked head at my desk all day!

Hood.  That is why I am wearing the coat - To protect myself from the rain.

I live outside of Seattle and I have one "serious" raincoat.  It is from Pendleton rubberized fabric and does have a hood.  I almost never wear it.  I don't like hoods on anything.  I have umbrellas in car, house, etc.

If it's a raincoat I don't mind a hood -- a detachable one.

I will never buy anything else with a hood.
