Actually, I've pretty much given up jeans for more casual pants, Talbot's weekend chinos and the like.  I think they are more comfortable, and easier to dress up or down than jeans.

I agree.  Unless you wear them with a tube top.

Hahaha. At my age, the tube top would have to be worn around my stomach!

Re: Question about Jeans?

[ Edited ]

I think you should wear whatever is "you"!  What IS that?

Often, when I meet a friend (in cooler weather), I have on black dress jeans, black boots, a crisp white shirt, and a leather jacket, either white or black.  It's me.  I wear black Bandolino bootcut jeans.  (Today that means straight, not skinny jeans).

When I go shopping with someone, I will look at something and my friend will say "You can wear that, I can't!".  I guess it's all about attitude.

After teaching, I worked for a major anchor (that was where I killed my spine).  I had a customer who was a lovely country woman.  She was SO sweet.  About 5' 8", slim, glasses, about 70, about a size eight, and she always wore dress jeans and boots.  She looked like she couldn't breathe in anything else!  She was lovely!

Be yourself.  It will "fit"!

Way too many threads about age & clothing.   Age has nothing to do with looking finished, polished & stylish.   At 60 maybe you can't wear the jeans you wore at 20 but there are jeans for all ages.

At what age do all of you think that a woman should no longer wear Jeans?   I don't mean Skinny Jeans or those torn Jeans that young women wear.

I have never been a dress or skirt type of woman.  I live a casual type of life style.  I no longer work outside of the home so a more formal type of dress pant is not needed.

When choosing a pant to wear for shopping or the occasional night out at the movies or dinner at a casual restaurant what would most of you "over 50" ladies wear?

If anyone has a particular style or an on-line store that they purchase their pants from I would love your ideas.

I'm never going to give up my jeans, lol. I've been wearing jeans my entire life and don't plan to change now. Btw, I'm 65. Mine are, for the most part, Levi's, I've tried all the brands, but find myself back to my all time favorite of all time. Levi's boot cut.

No age limit!  No body size or shape limits!  Jeans are for everyone to enjoy.  The beauty of jeans is -- there are a million styles, designs, price points, colors, etc.  You can wear them any old way that suits you.  If you like them baggy or loose, go for it.  If you like them fitting close to the body, fine.  If you like dark wash, light, pastels, black, whatever!  Go for it!!!

Age has nothing to do with whether one should wear jeans.

My aunt is in her 80s and she still wears jeans.  Not a style I would wear.  That's the good thing, there are so many different styles.  My mother who was in her 70s accidently picked up a pair low rise when they came into fashion and then wondered why they wouldn't come all the way up.  We laughed about that for a long time.

I am a big fan of Marla Wynne's FLATTERfit pant, which is available on another shopping network. They are a pull-on style, but the construction of the waistband lays completely flat; avoiding the "paper bag" effect so many pull-on pants seem to have.  The content of the fabric is wrinkle-resistant – though it is not advertised that way.  There is no question that they are a little more expensive than many pants seen on the Q, but  as often as I reach for them, they have been worth it for me.  The vendor advises sizing down 1 size and for me, that was the right advice. As for your jeans question, I am 54 and continue to wear jeans~ the trick I believe is choosing a figure-flattering style. I often wear a "dress jean" out with hubby for dinner- styling it with a pretty cardigan or blazer and a low-heeled pump or wedge. I think "flattering" should be the consideration, not age!
