I used to be strictly a pullover sweater gal.... rarely, if ever, did I wear cardigans unless it was a twinset. I've noticed that just in the last few years, I've gradually gotten rid of all my pullover sweaters and have bought only cardigans. Hmmm..... Didn't even notice that until I cleaned out drawers and closets last week. No pullovers. And I've been checking out cardigans in catalogs or stores for possible fall purchases.
Which do you prefer? cardigan or pullover sweater? and why?

@tototwo- I prefer cardigans so I have the option of removing if I get hot (you never know). I also had more pull over sweaters when I was younger! Hmmmm.... ![]()

I wear both. It depends on my look for the day.

When I was young and had a fabulous figure I loved pullovers that showed it off. Now I prefer a cardigan or jacket that hide my no longer fabulous figure.

I can’t remember the last time I even owned a pullover sweater. I was thrilled when loose, open cardigan style dressing became popular and available. I like all lengths too.

Cardigans although I do have a couple of pullovers.

Same here. Just over the past two years I have been into cardigans, not the super long one though. I still do like tunic length pullover sweaters but wear the cardigans more. They are more versitile to me.

@tototwo I started wearing cardigans at the same time as menapause. I could wear a lightweight blouse or shell underneath and strip down when the sweats hit. Lol. Now way past that, I still enjoy the occasional cardi, but have mostly pullover sweaters, but have refined their style: no cable or heavy knits. Finer knits only (if cold, wear cami or tee underneath). Also no more turtlenecks. They accentuate that piece of “meat” beginning to form under my chin. 😝

@tototwo I've been in Florida for 17 years, and I haven't bought an outerwear pullover sweater in all that time. I always bring a cardigan or jacket with me when I go out... the air conditioning here can be arctic-like!
BUT..... I do wear warmer clothes in the winter, and have thought about pullovers versus front-closing clothing. Back in the late 90s I made a fleece zip-up jacket and a fleece pullover with a half zipper. I LOVE the fabric of the pullover, but I rarely wear it because I can't open it all the way if I get to be too warm. I don't love the fabric of the zip-up, but I wear it all winter long because it has a full zipper and I can control the heat.
So, it's not a fashion thing for me, it's a practical thing. Cardigan over pullover!
