It was designed by Christian Dior, she was instrumental in making Dior an international name. The dress is on display in a new Christian Dior exhibit at the Victoria & Albert Museum. The photographer Cecil Beaton took her official 21st birthday portrait.

PBS is doing a 2 part documentary special on Margaret, starting next Sunday night (2/10/19).  I think it's called "Margaret: The Rebel Princess".  Check your local PBS listings for time & exact dates, which may be different.

It reminds me of my aunt's wedding gown, she was married in the late 1940's.  She had the biggest wedding our family has ever had; as little girls and teenagers all the girls poured over her wedding albums and wedding photos.  Her wedding gown was very similar, not as bare on top because it was a churc wedding.

That’s quite a dress. It’s spectacular. After the war, couturiers went wild with styles and fabrics. It may not be everyone’s favorite style but it was memorable.
