This is just an fyi. I went to Target this weekend to buy light bulbs and thought I'd check to see if they had a plain black Tee-Shirt. I ended up buying one in black and one in white. They are 49% Modal/49%Cotton/2%Spandex and very soft. They weren't on sale and cost only $8 each or 3 for $20. They also had tanks in the same material and same price that were a little flared at the bottom. I was pleasantly surprised to see how the women's apparel department had been updated.

Updated? They've had great stuff for years

All of a sudden, everything everywhere contains modal which we're told is very pricey (yeah, right). There must have been a bumper crop or huge clearance sale in China.
Modal is a type of rayon, a semi-synthetic cellulose fiber made by spinning reconstituted cellulose, in this case often from beech trees. Modal is used alone or with other fibers (often cotton or spandex) in clothing and household items such as pajamas, underwear, bathrobes, towels, and bedsheets.
Modal is processed under different conditions to produce a fiber that is stronger and more stable when it is wet than standard rayon, yet has a soft feel, similar to cotton

I don't think I've purchased anything Modal at Target (or anywhere else) but I love their 100% cotton offerings

When I was in Target earlier this spring, they were in the process of completely revamping the women's apparel department. I live on the west coast. They used to carry 100% cotton, and perhaps some of their items still are. However, I checked the label before I bought these tees because they were so soft and then rechecked them before I posted. In fact, the cotton portion is "pima cotton." Their website probably has them.

I have not bought clothing @Target in YEARS. The hem of tops always seemed to roll. I don't care for their quality of clothing.

Q tells the customer that it is pricey, but I have found some nice pieces for less at other stores.

Yep, you can find reasonably priced t-shirts made of the same materials as shown on QVC, elsewhere. You don't have to pay $30+ or $40+ like you would for a Susan Graver plain tee. Nice find!

The only way to know what is the best deal for good quality in styles you like and sizes you need is to shop around. Sometimes a higher price is warranted because the item cleary is worth every dollar even factoring in retail markup. In other cases it's easy to see that you don't have to overpay for some things because the retailer tells you it's so good and/or so expensive to manufacture.

I just did my seasonal "refresh" of wardrobe staple tees at Costco and Old Navy. None were more than $10@ including shipping. They were combo cotton and modal.
