Haven't really been a belt wearer but I think I could use one for maxi dresses. I am 5.4 and a size 6, sometimes maxi are too long. I saw the G.I.L.I brand. Can someone educate me on the virtues of an obi belt? I don't think I am either short or long waisted.

Since the time I posted, the blush color sold out. Any comments on these belts?

Educate you?  I don't what that means,   It's not about your dress size, it's about how you are built.  An obi belt works for women who have defined waists, flat stomachs and who are not short waisted.  I'm a size 16, those things apply to me and I love what my blush obi does for me.  I've been wearing a lot of maxi's and  since I own a blush Gili bag, I bought the blush obi to wear with my maxi dresses.  While I have a good waist, the obi belt makes my waist look even smaller.  It gives me an hour glass figure.  I have friend who is size 10 and she had to return her obi belt because after having 5 children, she has no waist at all.  She's straight up and down with bit of pot belly and a wide belt simply didn't work for her.  I haven't looked to see if there are any of those belts left but if there are any in black, I'm going to buy one to style with long skirts and black boots in the fall.

I have two leather obi belts that I purchased from HSN probably ten years ago now.  I definately wear them when I want a different look to an outfit.  They are wonderful at giving one a waist.  I will use one to jazz up a simple sheath dress, which is one of my favorite ways to use an obi  Give one a try!

youuu whooo... Erin's sister featured with Shawn on 8/8 is SHORT... if she works at the Q, why not call on her (like she and her twin sister) to model for shorties!  She is DARLING and where have you been hiding these two?

I'm short waisted with big boobs.  The Obi belt isn't for me. I don't want to see

I am larger on top than around the hips, some waist definition but definitely not hourglass. I like an obi with the right outfit because it really does create more of a waist for me. I wear with maxis, long tunics, long skirts, whatever, but I do not wear it with short leather jackets as styled on the Q, just not a look I'm after.

I think the obi will be showcased multiple times tonight, much to the consternation of many posters here. Woman Very Happy

Although I like obi belts the GILI is too wide for my short-waisted self.  I do have an obi belt that is thinner than the GILI one and it works for me when I want/need a belt to highlight my waist.

Unfortunately GILI Jill wears the obi on everything whether it is flattering or not.

So will Skinnytees.  Skinnytees and Obi belts must sell a lot-otherwise they would not be on every fashion show.
